Because of the one thing that won't change, and actually get worse
Casual PvE patrol heroes being served up to fireteams of 2000+ Flawless sweats on a platter
Even if you get rewards, having your teeth kicked in every match isn't fun and will just reinforce there decision to stay away
Trials will never change without SBMM

I know that I certainly will engage more, but then I occasionally play Trials anyway specifically for the loot. This weekend was the fastest I have ever gone Flawless, in 17 games! Last time it took around 3 times that many, which was extremely lucky for me. But as it stands the playerbase is extremely low, I matched several of the same players multiple times over the 20 games I played. Will there still be complaints about it? Without any doubt in my mind, or anyone else's that has worked customer service. People complained a lot about Persistence (with some legitimacy regarding the bug) and that is the easiest way to guarantee a single Adept drop for a weekend. Ferocity was the best card for me hands down, Persistence would take too long and I have way too many loosing streaks for Mercy. The new system should theoretically give more loot and cosmetics for those who actually do go flawless with 7 wins in a row, much less than someone who only made 3 wins in a row and only a chance then.

2 RepliesReally gets me thinking that people… Work 40-60 hours a week. Raising Kids In some cases barely making ends meet And Trials of Osiris is eating away at their minds

6 RepliesEveryone deserves the same CHANCE at every reward, but not everyone deserves every reward. Adept Trials weapons can now be obtained through sheer determination, despite one's ability. Play enough games, and you'll eventually win some. Win enough, and get rewarded. No other end-game mode in Destiny operates this way. * Master Raids are pass / fail. * Master Dungeons are pass / fail. * GM Nightfalls are pass / fail. And no amount of "trying hard" can make up for a player's inability to complete them. So why is Trials being treated differently? Is it not an end-game mode? Don't ruin the prestige of the mode by allowing EVERYONE to get EVERY reward.
There are other ways to allow a higher percentage of players to go Flawless, such as reducing the number of wins required to x5.
Three things you can count on in life Death Taxes People crying about trials

2 RepliesTrials wont work with SBMM, old or new. SBMM will give a 50/50 win rate (the way Bungie implements it), this makes both going flawless and going on streaks incredibly difficult. The current (until heresy) version will give about an 11% chance using both mercies and only a 0.78124% chance for a straight flawless. In the new Trials (post heresy) a flawless is 7 straight wins, thats a 0.78125% chance. SBMM removes the skill factor and makes it all luck based. Which team has the slight advantage. SBMM punishes players for getting better or being good. It removes the incentive to improve and only causes fewer people to play. SBMM has never been good for Destiny it always causes drops. What should actually be done for Trials is a Practice Passage that can only be used by players who have a low KD (below 0.8) and fewer than 200 games. The passage works the exact same as normal but will not count losses and does not give access to farming adepts. Then have the passage use very loose SBMM (if youre a 0.5 with 10 games you wont go against a 0.5 with 100 games or a 0.8 with 10 games etc.) so that people are still playing Trials with a difference in skill but are not being steam rolled. They should not be making the changes they are nor should they implement SBMM across the board. Bungie attempted to give handouts with the Passage of Persistence but that only worked for a couple weeks. It wont change here simply because those bad players and the casual plauers still need to sink in large amounts of time to be rewarded. Now its just going to punish the good players by bringing back flawless pool and making flawless runs nothing but luck. Catering to casuals and low skill players is catering to failure. Thats why the games f*cked right now, they catered too much for people who have no skill or no time to play.

4 RepliesSbmm is the worst idea for trials. It would essentially mean every player has a 50/50 chance of winning. People just need to get better & stop whining, if you aren't good at PvP then practice until you are
-
If I have to deal with those players everyone should too 😭

I do agree that when the game mode isn’t fun it won’t last any longer. But sbmm can’t be the issue simply because if trials remains reward base on winning sbmm will only make stuff worse. Now don’t get me wrong. It would give you a extra couple of wins. But will never let you get 7 wins. I think I did the math on this once but getting 7 wins in a row with sbmm you will have a 1/128 change. So once out of 128 trying getting 7 wins will be successful. The whole game mode needs to be removed and set on hold for a couple of years and reintroduced again when players are bored.

2 RepliesAgree plus carry services would disappear over night ,Imagine pvp mains saying they are pvp mains but they carnt hack playing the same skill level . Watch the excuses of nobody will go flawless blah blah lol even though it all depends on who wins the most out of 5 games for the decision of who wins for 1 round , they all act like it's just one not five lol,of course sbmm would work the only difference is compared to now is the top % would have to earn there spot instead of preying on noobs and the bottom percent will still have to work just as hard since they will be playing people in the same skill level. Even if you put aside what I have stated above ,just look at the actual proof from studies that show sbmm is better for a healthier playerbase

Bungie thinks they know the depths of its players disability and dumbfuggery. They are about to find out again.
-
Did you not read the twab or the bit that says if you gon flawless once it’s weekly based performance mm which is sbmm And the only way to not be in there is to be with someone who hasent been flaw for the week otherwise known as finding a person to carry giving you an adv
-
5 RepliesNot sure why Bungie is so damn adamant on dumbing down the game. Seriously what is the point of going flawless now when you can get both the flawless rewards as a random drop without going flawless and now you will be able to get to the Lighthouse. The only thing you get now is the Title, which is only a matter of time before it is even changed.
-
3 RepliesCasuals don't play Comp, either, and it has strict SBMM
-
I dislike your classification of average players but you are correct. Mostly, average players are not doing Trials anyways. Just like they are not doing raids, GMs or most master difficulty content.
-
I agree that SBMM is needed, just not in the suggested form. If you enter a regular SBMM, then the chance of flying to the lighthouse will be 3% for any player, regardless of his skills (5 wins with passage of mercy) What about SBMM by teams? Patrol heroes are stacked into one team with the same patrol heroes, players with kd 1.2 are stacked with players with kd 1.2 and so on. And then we put 2.0 kd team vs team of patrol heroes, no one to blame right? Nah, i am just kidding but that would be hilarious. Actually i am so fkn tired of players like you. Players who cant get enough of everything. “bungee please help me, I cant gitgud, you have to make the game better for me” No. Gitgud, or go play your patrols and dont stick your face in trials where “sweats” will smash you. Well, or at least have the conscience not to whine, but to accept your real performance with dignity and learn from your mistakes

5 RepliesThe Trials changes just make me shrug my shoulders. Who the F cares? Why would I play Trials of Osiris when 95% of the gear blows huge @zz*. Guns that are only good in pvp, crappy worthless armor, and the cosmetics, bungie holy crap how many more ships, sparrows, and ghost shells do we need in the game. Why would I ever play this crappy playlist when pve loot is far far superior? Why should I grind for trials weapons when I can go get craftable raid, pale heart, and seasonal weapons which are way better? Also, they are craftable meaning I am 100% guaranteed the exact roll I want. Trials armor?? Bro who cares?? I can literally go into the pale heart and farm up loads and loads of pale heart engrams, then I can go to the vendor (my ghost) and focus loads of high stat armor for little to no effort/sweat what so ever. Trials was pointless before, it's pointless now, and in Heresy it looks like Trials will remain pointless. And Guess what, ladies and gentlemen boys and girls? I don't think that's going to change anytime soon if ever at all.
-
The more patrol heroes go in the higher the likelihood they end up playing against each other. Do you remember the first Trials change resulting in -blam!- playing? On the other hand, people have the attention span of a gold fish and in 10 weeks' time that won't be good enough anymore.
-
Sbmm would not change it either. Trials is a high stress environment. Losing has consequences if you're trying to get a flawless run. Casual players just, generally, cannot take that stress. That's why whenever big changes happen that promise to alleviate that stress a bit, they come in droves, and then even though they were playing mostly balanced, fair, and easier games, they still don't come back the next week.
-
You mean it’ll stay dead. It’s already dead.
-
I give it a week, maybe two.
-
There will still be bots. Still be throttling your gameplay.
-
I'll play trials time to time if I want to go after a weapon or armor set but I really don't care much about going to the lighthouse, but I sure did in D1.

Trials will never change without SBMM
Good thing they added that second pool then that has the SBMM in it?
This experience builds off the Practice Pool, which despite the lower total population, has helped keep average and below average player participation in Trials over the last several months ~20% higher than the similar low point from before the 2021 rework. [b]Utilizes Weekly Performance Based Matchmaking if everyone in your fireteam is on a Completed Lighthouse, Flawless, or Trials Passage.
Get good. I barely play yet I’ve gone flawless a few times and got the glorious title as 100% solo player. With a five year old trying to take my controller to boot. Trials is something you hop into if you 1) like the map (very important) and 2) want the weapon of the week. If *both* of those aren’t met then don’t even bother.

Three weeks.

4 RepliesEdited by Noevah: 2/1/2025 12:16:19 PMI'm so tired of the lowest tier players in this game always acting like it takes some faceit 10 sweat to roll them. Low tier players get rolled by everyone else. That's why they're low tier. Bungie already has the sbmm pool to go with the participation trophy passage they're adding. This post is completely pointless.
