The biggest opportunity the destiny franchise has that Sony/Bungie can't fumble

This entire year was about finishing the light and darkness saga. Heretic will finish the last plot treads and no matter how the community sentiment was around the story I think you can say that the light and darkness saga is officially concluded. But what about the next part? Veterans desperately want a destiny 3 and new players are still lost on how the game works. Some players quit the game but would grab a destiny 3 if the opportunity came. With that in mind, how to go about things? Should Frontiers be yet another Destiny expansion, that has exotics, a raid, a dungeon in the middle of the year? Or should it take the unique opportunity it has coming after the well received end of the light and darkness saga with the not as well received epilogue to it to do something it needs to? Here's what I think. Frontiers is the PERFECT opportunity for a soft reboot. Start a new saga. Like how destiny 1 started the light and darkness saga, frontiers can start something else. While we have the systems of destiny 2 too. There won't be a better opportunity to start new people on the saga. Why not just... leave behind all the past plot threads? Sure we can keep the traveler, the vanguard, crow (I don't particularly like the character, but he's good for our needs), the stranger from the bray family, drifter etc... but the mentality should be that the stuff we did in the past is done (which was the idea of the episodes) and our new goal is whatever is on the frontiers ahead of us. Ideally, while we can bring characters and hint at moments at a few stories from the light and darkness saga, and stuff like the traveler and pyramids, frontiers should be about something new. So new players can get into the new story without any past story HURDLES and veterans have something new to look forward to instead of good ole eramis for the 500th time. Old plot threats can be optional dialogue options like we have in rpgs with the cast that came from the past saga to the new one (like crow). Fix the new player experience. Recycle the quest from the cosmodrone and put it in the new expansion and add a permanent bento token vendor. He gives 5 bento tokens to new players and allows them to buy 5 of ANY exotic from the light and darkness saga (raid exotics for spoils too I guess). Give the player some starting weapons as well so they can do a standard raid, dungeon or some pvp without throwing (like the machinegun drifter gives you, but for more weapon types too). After the player completes this initial quest he should be able to do a raid, dungeon or pvp in a fireteam setting without needing to grind onslaught for 5 hours just so he can have some fun with his friends. Because this is the biggest hurdle in the game, you can't just create a new account and have some fun with friends. AND STOP JUMPING PEOPLE INTO THE NEW INTRODUCTORY QUEST OF THE SEASON/EXPANSION AND LOCKING THE ARTIFACT TO THAT. Make the expansion GOATED. Since we want to get everyone hyped for a entire new SAGA of the franchise it might need to be a "Forsaken level expansion" (or superior?). Since bungie doesn't want to overdeliver the general communication should be that the expansion builds the foundation for the new saga (or something like that). To Sony, the goal should be to at least break even, and profit from the subsequent expansions of the saga. I believe there is already a lot of effort put into frontiers but there is no way a standard expansion would build enough hype for a new saga bungie/sony wants players to play for years. Since Sony wanted so badly to have prosperous live services by doing -blam!- like dunking 400 million into concord why not like 1/4 of that into something that has already a certain degree of guaranteed success and ROI? It's only a matter of Bungie convincing Sony for investing into this new saga. The only bet we're making here is getting more people into the franchise, a investment like this will already make the veterans invested into the next saga, the only risk is if new people get into it or not. Hell, we can even do a boxed release. Rename the game on storefronts do "Destiny 2: Frontiers", do a marketing cycle and get the physical game on game stores. Make a bundle that includes all previous content avaible for purchase too so players can get into the game with no setbacks. And... the DCV. I'm gonna be honest, it's very hard to convince people to play Destiny when the idea that content you buy goes away every year. There NEEDS to be a shift in how the DCV works. Maybe every year you can replay a rotation of seasonal activities during the yearly celebration event (the moments of triumph/into the light yearly celebration). The way it's done right now doesn't work... the leviathan castellum came back but went away again, the dreadnaught is gonna come back for like one season but it's gonna go away again. Bungie also needs to toy with the idea of making the game modular for people to install. You NEED a way for people to experience the old content... like make a separate install if you want to play only the story or something, or maybe make the entire saga of d2 into a legacy install and have the frontiers + core content part of the next saga be the main game executable people will want to be playing... or the game being in parts with old stories being optional content you install. The DCV is the biggest meme in the gaming community and it will keep being it if nothing changes. Couldn't epic games do a few more "engine upgrades"? They're some of the best in the business and handle fortnite, ask Sony to give them more money or something. Bungie needs to remember that it's an investment into the new saga, not just a simple new expansion. This is the general gist of it. I had a few other suggestions on things Bungie could do in frontiers/the next into the light but I decided to focus on the important things. Let me know in the comments what you think. Share with your friends if you think this is a good path forward for bungie that can put the game in the right tracks. Now, I don't believe if we don't do this the expansion will necessarely suck. I actually think it's gonna be pretty good (we even know it most likey will solve the armor and seasonal monetization problems). But if that happens the problems will stay: the story will continue being a mess, new players won't be able to get into the game, and it's probably just gonna be... more destiny.
