It's soft sunsetting with a nerf to stat's we have ,since 3 stat colums on new armor only will practically make the other 3 colums be at 0 instead of like what we have today where you can have triple 100s atm with mob/res/dis and still have other stat's at 40 like rec/str/intellect ,which those at 40 for example will all be set to zero with new armor changes
Only thing that looks good is wearing full sets of certain armors give passive perks which should of just been added into the game years ago o WAIT ✋️ it has been done before its called shadow keep armor, raid armor even gambit armor that was removed have/had passive perks for wearing full sets
You ask me this looks straight up bad and this choice by bungie doesn't respect the players time already spend in this game farming for high stat armor since it will all be made practically irrelevant compared to the new armor (sunsetting 2.0) just to pad out time in game for lack of content
Obv accounts like Senpai ,wifeaggro ,hermit ,syndeagle and bore will try to downplay it aka shills but you get the idea guardians ,plus alot of the people in the comments of the yt video also picked up on the fact it's soft sunsetting
Edit: just to add some context of why these bdf fan boys have been mentioned 1 of them did spam the forums telling people they were wrong to be mad at the state of the game and religiously posted on every topic that final shape was going to be game of the year 🤣 so there word holds about as much water a bucket can hold when it's full of holes lol,the others banded together to downplay my concerns on the lament nerf which I think that one was kinda valid considering nobody uses the sword now after the nerf bareing in mind it had a low user rate even before the nerf .
They are just mad I put the video up on the forums so you can all make your own mind up about the situation and if it's sunsetting or not .

3 RepliesEdited by TheLastBlackKnight: 1/31/2025 6:12:16 PMNot really happy with the idea of my 4x100 stat armor being worthless Edit: I watched that video and I hate pretty much every single thing the guy mentioned.

1 ReplySo someone who disagrees with you and corrects you on what sunsetting is, is a shill? The high light of my forum career is being specifically called out in a post. 😂

3 RepliesThat's wild. I'm so excited. These are the type of armor changes I've wanted for a while. This is what the game needs! Let's hope no one asks you in case

18 RepliesYou must not know what real sunsetting is….
taken king did it perfectly

beyond light was terrible

DCV was and always will be a scam
1 ReplyThe audacity to include them, but not the og Kelly is insane.

3 RepliesI think you need to revisit what sunsetting is man. Because whatever you’re on about, is just not it. I think you need reread those changes. And as someone who grinded the triple/quad 100 artifice armor, I’m actually happy that there’s new armor. I’ve been wearing the same gear for years. Now we all get to grind out some new armor and try out having stats up to 200. It’s actually a good thing
-
If they didn’t power creep the current armour then why would we farm to get it?
-
Sounds almost like a revert back to how armour originally was...

Stat values per stat column will be higher per armor piece and the cap will be raised to 200 instead of 100. Up to 100 affects cooldown and anything above provides special bonuses such as a chance to double melee. Additionally every point will count now instead of only every 10.
Discipline From 1 to 100, provides increasing grenade cooldown reduction. From 101 to 200, provides an increasing chance to gain a bonus grenade charge whenever your grenade becomes available. Stat renamed to Grenade to improve readability. Strength From 1 to 100, provides increasing melee cooldown reduction From 101 to 200, provides an increasing chance to gain a bonus melee charge whenever your powered melee becomes available. Stat renamed to Melee to improve readability. Special Ammo From 1 to 100, increases rate at which Special ammo bricks drop from final blows. From 101 to 200, provides an increasing chance that a double-sized brick will drop.
Your armor will drop with objectively higher stats than it does now with there being less rng in which stats you get. This means instead of needing to get a set with high discipline on every piece, you just need one or two high discipline to max out the stat. Your other armor will focus on other stats. Overall this results in less grind and higher stat totals.
The result will be a smaller number of unique stats on any piece of armor, with larger contributions to these stats, and every stat point providing a benefit. These changes should ultimately make every piece of armor more interesting and easier to evaluate.
Adding set bonuses now without reducing the time it takes to obtain a good set would make the grind too long for most players to care about getting a new set for the bonuses. Read the changes before trying to comment on them. For anyone who actually want the new armor changes in detail read this.

11 Repliesanother weird post for someone getting mad for having better gear , is powercreep not sunsetting

6 RepliesEdited by The Hermit IX: 1/27/2025 11:10:49 PMOr maybe a lot of people don’t pay attention to your posts so there’s that.. I don’t feel jilted because you’re crying about something involving the game. You do that all the time. What’s hysterical is it bothers you that some players actually enjoy the game to the point you post their handles. Good to see you are hard at work predicting something is bad before trying it or fully understanding the changes coming. Can you check your crystal ball and give me the next power ball numbers?

11 RepliesIt's clear that you didn't actually read the changes...
-
Since you don't play...

14 RepliesMy concern is around my existing armor, I can choose not to grind for the new armor, but if bungie change the stats on my existing armor then they are invalidating all the effort I have put in to acquire it, I don't trust them to get it right.
-
4 RepliesYeah we're going back to D1 armor which is fine I'd care more if the content I was playing was made more fun and less of a chore but that's just me.

94 RepliesEdited by MC 077 Lasombra: 1/27/2025 2:09:07 AMOne thing people gloss over is how some mods are being made into armor stats. https://www.bungie.net/7/en/News/article/next_gen_armor Look under the new armor pic and you’ll see a mod is now an armor stat. And how that affects the limited slots wasn’t mentioned by Bungie. But if it’s a stat and there are only 3 slots, it’s obvious. We are trading stats for mods now. So no surprise they didn’t go into it. This a definite sunset and downgrade. Sure you can get some cool things, I think double nades was mentioned but it’s going to come at a cost most won’t like. Another bad move in a long running series of them.

7 RepliesI want to make sure I'm understanding this correctly. We will still have all six stats but armor will be adjusted to cover just three at a time instead of all of them? So in theory I can use my helmet and arms to address the top three stats and use my chest and legs for the bottom three stats while class item covers all six? Is my understanding right?

2 RepliesEdited by Dooodley: 1/27/2025 10:48:08 AMThe claim is that it will be more straightforward and easy to understand. My question is; was armor really something that was hard to figure out? I can on the other hand probably list ten other things in this game that could use a major QoL overhaul. You can't even finish a good deal of the things in this game without the help of google and YT. And even when it seems pretty straightforward you have to deal with map markers that are off or bugs. Also, armor tiers are probably going to dividie the small community we have even more. It's also going to feel even more pointless to put time into this game as a solo player - because you'll probably going to be even more behind. Reminds me of another game I played - and where I actually cared enough to PvE and PvP on the highest level, the set bonuses I got there gave me a huge advantage - in addition to the gear itself being better.
-
I'm gonna hold judgement until I've got it in my hands and played with it enough. They could make changes between now and than still.
-
7 RepliesEdit those stat's that we never really payed attention to that were only 30 to 40 etc all reduced your cooldowns by minutes or seconds depending on stat so get ready to feel the effect when those stat's are reduced to zero(nerf) . Honestly i think frontiers will be less about abilities and more about camping back with a gun like halo which personally isn't why I play d2 I play because of the abilities which seems like they are gonna be nuked come frontiers
-
23 RepliesI was arguing with some of the bdf, they still say this isn’t sunsetting ….
-
14 RepliesDid you really expect it to be better than what we have now?. Did you really think they wouldn't make everything up untill this change irrelevant? If your answer to either of these questions is yes, you're either new here(and I know you're not) or you haven't been paying attention.
-
🤷🏻♂️ kinda a crap shoot like any experiment. Could be good, could be awful.
-
So theres nothing that will stop you wearing your current armour and nothing that will stop you from focusing the new armour to have the distributions you want. Theres no sunsetting going on.
