Legendary Campaign Final Mission Too Difficult

Witch Queen was the last campaign we were able to finish on Legendary. It was challenging, took many retries, but we got it done. Dare I say, even had fun. In Lightfall, the final mission, we quit after about 30 tries and never finished. Walked away from the game for a year. We came back for Final Shape, hearing that it was better than Lightfall. But again, got stuck on the final mission, Iconoclast. We put in at least 6-7 hours after the release of Final Shape and now another 6-7 hours this Season after levelling up again. 20 tries just today on the final checkpoint. We have tried in a trio, splitting up in groups of 2 and each trying solo. We've watched the videos and read the guides. But at this point, looks like we aren't going to finish this one either. And I get it. You've been forced to design the game difficulty for the Pro/Semi Pro Gamers. Folks that take the hardest content you can make, breeze through then think everything is too easy. The same folks that scoff at anyone that can't complete it as if to question that it was too hard for anyone. Maybe there should be a Grandmaster difficulty level for these folks where they get even higher power drops to get them raid ready and something for bragging rights. Or even easier, just remove the Legendary campaign as the prerequisite for Guardian Ranks, Titles, Exotic Weapon missions and whatever else is gated behind Legendary campaign completion (just make it campaign completion on any difficulty). What IS the % of total players that bought Final Shape that completed the campaign on Legendary? Have those numbers changed from Witch Queen to Lightfall to Final Shape? If they have, maybe use that data to figure out how to get more people to finish the content you are creating and keep playing your game. We love Destiny, have played it from Day 1. But the difficulty creep is real and is driving us away. Thanks for letting me share my feedback and opinion.

    Revive Tokens need to go , prevents stronger players from helping weaker players through content There is already a scaler to make every enemy a tank if you have a full team, no need to throw another anti-player system on top of it They don't belong in Raids either, prevent hero moments, like 1 person talking on a downed person's job along with there own to save a run Revive Tokens are a mistake, but Bungie loves them , they prevent carries , and they want everyone to have the same frustrating God awful experience Probably why there is only 5 people playing the game right now

    • if you can't finish don't do it? after all legendary campaign is for good players that as always the reward is just a emblem and power level prep for raids. That's the problem with this babybase comunity if a bottom 1000000% team can't do something it should be nerfed and remove

      I highly recommend an Auto-Loading Holster Grenade Launcher with Disorienting Grenades, made most of the content much easier since they can't shoot back at you. If you don't have one, the "Pardon Our Dust" one from Dares of Eternity can be crafted with such a roll should one not drop from that activity, and the 4th Column perk doesn't matter as much.       • I just recently completed this today in about three hours on legendary. Might just be me, but I had a lot of fun with this campaign. Prismatic is busted and every mission literally gives you an infinite amount to abuse. Use parasite to nuke subjugators and Microcosm to deal with the tormentors.

      • Legendary campaign missions are easy if you take your time. Savathun was a breeze, just Gally Gally, suppression nade for reload, Gally Gally, damage over. Rinse and repeat. Calus just as easy, scout rifle his face until tormentor. Tractor tormentor and shotgun him, rinse and repeat. Final phase just bait attacks and strand melee. Witness was easy too, literally just play smart and hide. Prismatic is OP. Use it. Legendary isn't too difficult, it's perfect. Don't want a hard campaign, play normal difficulty

      • I don’t agree with the revive token system but the legendary difficulty is DESIGNED FOR the people who are well above average at the game. Who do end game content like dungeons and raids. Conquerer titles, or at least do master nightfalls regularly. The normal mode is for people who just play the game casually. And it seems like you play the game casually. I know lots of people on here are going to be like “git gud” or some other bs. There is nothing wrong with playing something casually.

      • Then play it on regular. There is no shame in sticking to the difficulties that are fun for you. No need to bang your head against a wall for no real rewards.

      • They offer a lower difficulty for those who are unable to complete it on legendary. Many don’t like to hear it, but there is a reason for having multiple difficulties - not everyone is the same. And honestly, if everyone can handle the hardest mode - what is the point of having tiered difficulty?

        • I managed to power through it, but it sucked having to juggle the death gas and avoiding the Witness. That, and the bosses we had to kill. I got it done once I put Heir Apparent away, though. I used Red Death Reformed and it worked.

        • I’m sure you’ll get a lot of negative feedback on this. But I agree with you. It’s just not the same nor as fun now. I can’t even finish the Encore solo, much less expert. Some people will laugh and scoff at that, but so what. It shouldn’t be about builds, it should be about shooting aliens in the head with a little space magic built in….not the other way around like it is.

            Legendary campaign scaling should be honed in a bit more for 3 mans. It's fine as a solo/duo but once you bring in the 3rd it gets a bit obnoxious. Warmind has it at 2.098% of all players they track (which is 68.8 million according to them) so around 1.3 million have completed the triumph for Legendary campaign - if they're to be believed. In a more limited data source like Bray.tech - they track it as 413k out of their 1 million data set and Light.gg has it at 72% of their data set (no released number count as far as I know)

            • Just keep at it. I was playing through the legendary campaign solo and noticed the massive difficulty spike for the final boss every time. All I can suggest is to just keep trying things. If something isn't working, try something new, such as new weapons, a new build, a new strategy, etc. It took a few hours of banging my head against this wall before it broke. You just have to keep trying and learn from mistakes. Lightfall though is a different story. That one is nonsense and legitimately unfair solo. 1st phase boss has a tanky overshield while also having infinite, tanky adds pepper you from all directions, but you can't realistically stop to get a footing or you get punished. So it's like, you have to keep constant fire on the boss, you have to keep moving, and you have to keep clearing adds. How is anyone supposed to do that? I could only do it a handful of times during my hours of attempts, and the 2nd phase is even more unfair. Sure the boss has much less hp in this phase, but there is little to no cover, the boss is faster than you, and can cover about half of the area in a lunge attack that's borderline unavoidable, and you can't survive 2 hits, if you're not just straight up knocked off by the first hit. And of course there are adds peppering you if you try to stay aerial. That fight isn't fun at all, just frustrating. tl;dr I don't blame you for wanting to give up, but you can do it if you just keep going, but it will take dedication. TFS is very hard, but doable with dedication. Lightfall is horribly designed and I don't blame you for giving up. I couldn't do it solo legitimately.

              It definitely isn’t an easy mission. I used The Call rocket sidearm and Red Death and did it two man (if I recall correctly).

            • It certainly was a challenge. Took several goes to read the attacks snd screwed the lmb on my controller. You are correct in saying that over the last few expansions things have been steadily moving out of the range of the average players ability. But you are wasting your time on these forums. The only people still playing and responding here are those that enjoy that difficulty level. And they generally either don’t realise that they are good players above the norm, or in several well known cases are the “git good” “skill issue” brigade that think they are something special. Play the game for story, and ignore all the difficult nonsense Bungi put out. Its what many have done and why the numbers keep falling.

              • It's much easier solo. Make sure you're setup right, 10 resil & stasis resist mods. Practice the boss room, it's just about timing. It took me ages to do it then I did it on a second account & did it first time. Add clear is essential (the bats), & using cover. Found warlock easiest & stasis turrets/prismatic

                  First off i understand your frustrations but having 3 people on a fireteam on campaign will dramatically increase difficulty. It tells you right there when you start it. Then you said you stopped for over a year and then tried this campaign most likely all of your gear is outdated and you didn't do any sort of prep to start with a little advantage. Only difficult mission will be iconoclasm but if you take your time and play smart you can get it done. Is it for pros? Absolutely not. Gear up unlock some artifact mods and try again solo.

                • It was a pain in the -blam!-, but I was eventually able to get it done. I don't mind a challenge, but there's a difference between a fun challenge and a frustrating challenge.

                • Legendary did take me a while solo as well but just keep practicing the timing of enemy attacks when doing damage
