To Bungie: Please bring back crafting.
To players who don't want crafting:
If your excuse is that players don't spend enough time in the game as expected, then the problem is (yourself). Bungie's job is to provide content, not to babysit players by forcing them to keep playing until they get the god rolls. If you want to repeat content, then do so; there's no need to drag everyone else into it.
Also, once you've obtained all the god roles from this episode (Revenant), will you continue playing/repeating the content, or will you scream victory and move on to something else?

Yeah bungie is just walking back crafting because of their greed. They know their activities suck so instead of making fun ones, the just make you repeat them. All the while you never know when you are getting screwed by one of their “bugs”

Edited by xbroggiex: 12/6/2024 1:24:33 AMNope and it should stay gone and the rest should be removed from the game it has killed the replayability and player pops of seasonal activities and raids. This is a looter shooter and loot is supposed to be random and/or rare.

1 ReplyBringing it back now would be middle finger for people who farmed for the rolls they wanted.

It should have never been in the game in the first place. RNG grinding and Light Level grinding has been a core pillar of the game since launch. It wasn't until the last year or two those went by the way side. This game was never ment to be played uber casually and that should be the basic understanding before someone downloads it. It's an MMO it isn't meant or designed to be played solo and getting the drop you want or need should be expected to take a while. It was never designed to be a catch all for all player types and thats ok. If you want to point a finger at someone other than a player who downloaded a game not designed for them then blame Blackburn. He was the person who nuetered the games corw pillars in attempt to appease a wider audiance and filling the community full of to many different types of players with to many contradicting wishes.

Edited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 12/3/2024 9:09:16 PMAll they had to do was balance it. Instead it was removed AND focusing was removed. Complete and utter over correction. The community is too evenly split on crafting to have just removed seasonal crafting. All they had to do was have no more weekly freebies and make it so that red borders only drop from activity completions. Make random drops enhanceable and then both sides are appeased.

26 RepliesI’m playing less this season because of no crafting. I don’t mean a little. My playtime fell off the cliff. I’ve seen the light, and praying for good rng isn’t it.
-
I despise crafting but nothing wrong if you like it. I personally find it boring and tedious
-
The biggest part of crafting seasonal weapons is that you can keep their patterns to make one whenever you want. When all the seasonal sources are long gone a few months later, you can still craft all the weapons. A rare occasion where you actually get to keep what you paid for?! No way! Alas, Bungie can’t have that happening, so they removed that one.
-
If you want to repeat content, then do so; there's no need to drag everyone else into it.
The only bad part has always been when "everyone else" shows up and tries to run everything even if they don't want to chase the god rolls.

If these seasonal guns were as good as the last , original, Onslaught weapons I would’ve been fine with this system. The fact is these seasonal guns aren’t special at all. I’ve gone into detail before on them and most of them are useless in pvp. The handcannon has a terrible zoom, terrible stats. Terrible stats on most these guns. Except maybe the shotgun for pvp. The rest nobody will ever use after this season. So why shouldn’t they be craftable? No idea.

Crafting should be a catch up mechanic. You can have crafting but I think enhanced weapons should be better than crafted weapons.

Oh, not a red border. Delete. Oh, already have this one crafted. Delete. Loot doesn’t feel exciting despite weapon rolls being better than ever before. Last time loot was exciting was Into the Light. Guns should become craftable later on after their time in the spotlight is up. Give them some new perks and make them craftable. Like how they have done the raid updates. That revives new loot. They should make all reprised Guns craftable and keep new guns as rng drops.

When is Destiny going to return to being a giving tree?

42 RepliesEdited by Obi-Juan: 12/3/2024 2:41:31 AMLike it or not, rng gives you a reason to play these activities more than you otherwise would have. When an entire act essentially only has 1 new activity to last us, crafting is bad for the longevity of it. There's no incentive to play the activity when you can just grab a weekly red border and log off. They made a compromise where you can focus a specific weapon so it's not just pure rng, there's some middle ground. I know because i'm not just agreeing with you you're probably going to get upset with this message, but I genuinely mean well. Just trying to get you to realistically think about the situation. What good is catering to crafters if they stop playing much quicker than rng enjoyers stop? The best alternative to pure rng and crafting is to give people some control over the rng. Which is what they've done. Now, tonics aren't perfect, but still you have control. Ideally they should go back to Into The Light style of rng control where you don't consume 66 minute timers and instead just have something attuned permanently. You might not feel the same, but I certainly feel more excited about the possibility of my god roll dropping at any moment than I do about simply waiting to get 5/5 red borders. It's all about the excitement of loot, since this is a looter shooter. End of activity chest rewards lose almost all of their excitement when crafting is at play.

Nah, dude. I have a gambling addiction and you should too

Ya know what I find funny. People crying about others obtaining god rolls faster than them bro no one cares what you are running as long as you ain't throwing. Crafting just made people sick of repeating the same thing hundreds of times and removed the viel destiny has had for so long. We see this with dungeons and raid exotics to this day. We should be having FUN not throwing our heads into the rng wall to finally get what we want. Besides to shut the anti crafting crowd up just remove enhanceable perks.
-
I am finding a lot of interesting drops by playing the game all day. Its very satisfying.
Bungie's job is to provide content
To the players who think crafting = content? What? Crafting is not content. Crafting is a lame excuse to address a core issue of too many perks, too many useless perks and useless perk combos. This leads to throw away weapons that have bad perks or perk combos that are so ineffective as to be useless. If you did not have 100+ possible combinations available for a given weapon, it would be easier to get what you want to drop. Because there are at least 6 perk positions on a given weapon all with 4+ options, there are too many variations to statistically, or reliably get a given drop. It there were fewer perks and they were all useful, the pool would be small enough so players could earn the drop they want. Even the weapons without the best roll would still have some utility. Fix the game, do not persist with crafting as a band-aid to get players what they want.
-
Crafting shouldn't have been removed if the core weapon grinds haven't changed in years! Tonics are not it.
-
Bungie should add all the revenant and re-re-released Splicer weapons to Crafting before this whole year seasonal stuff is "FOMO removed from the game". Especially now that we learn there is a bug with Tonics and loot is not dropping correctly For the players that say they want to grind and hate crafting, just ignore it, keep "grinding away" and chasing your loot, nothing is stopping you.
-
Edited by BridledPear926: 12/3/2024 7:58:45 PMI think they just need to make it so enhanceable can have their barrels and mags changed. This would be a good middle ground between crafting and RNG issues. You still have to grind for the perks and masterwork you want, but are able to get that 5/5 god roll that is practically impossible to get through RNG alone (.02% chance).
-
14 RepliesI don’t want crafting back but weapon focusing and perk focusing needs to be introduced. Getting a drop and checking the roll is such a massive part of the game. Just deleting every red border or non-red border until you can craft is boring. A system whereby you can change or combine perks on weapons would be a good mix.
-
Agree, by the time you get the pattern most people would have gotten their preferred rolls.
-
Crafting didn’t go away. We got a set of reprised raid weapons this season so just because seasonal weapons aren’t included doesn’t mean it’s gone lol
-
I would be in favor of getting rid of crafting altogether so that god rolls become rarer and more meaningful. HOWEVER, unless they come up with a much larger vault system then they should make everything craftable so we don't have to keep half a dozen versions of every gun. They should also do something about Ergo Sum and exotic class items. They load you up with tons of these things when you have no idea which ones will be the meta in a few months or a year. I don't even want to think about how many god rolls I have probably sharded over the years because of the constant inundation of weapons and armor coming up against the lack of vault space.
