PvE Player’s PvP Impression

>Turns corner >Four Gravitons unload >I die Overall it was a fun experience and a nice change of pace. I’m certainly not good at PvP. The experience gave me some insight into a lot of the complaints I see on the forums. Here are my takes as a PvE player: 1. Graviton is fine. Cry more. 2. The only annoying ability is duskfield (not even OP, just annoying). 3. Most maps encourage the “hiding in the back with a long range weapon” playstyle. Wish there were more opportunities for short range engagements. 4. Did sidearms get nerfed recently? I’ve been loosing close range engagements to pulses despite getting the first shot and landing crits. Might’ve just been Rat King and a skill issue. 5. Is melee cancelling a thing? I’ve seen a lot of people (mostly warlocks?) punch back-to-back without the normal melee cooldown. 6. Liar’s Handshake in PvP is funny. 7. Make Rat King kick people to orbit with a quitting penalty on kill. Pretty much all my takes. Take them with a grain of salt. I’m not good at PvP nor do I claim to be; my KD reflects that.

  • In the same boat but I had a 5 day weekend for the holiday. Hit IB hard to get the 2 resets done. Graviton was a pain at distance. Used Randy’s with gut shot or mida and was able to usually out gun them. As long as you expected it in the open areas you could be prepared. I got hung up in doors A LOT using storms edge. Got some great multi kills as well but I benefitted from respawning close to the point they were capping. Manticore is fun as hell to use! Got a 4 piece kill while floating in the air as a hunter! 😂 The load times were terrible in some games. Teams capping points before we had spawned in or vice versa. Trying to maintain 2 points in close proximity when having the other team spawn on you was disheartening to say the least, but it happens. Not terrible by any means, I was able to finish my mida catalyst and almost the entire quest and catalyst for manticore! If this week is rift may work on jade rabbit if it’s the other one may finish manticore.

    So.. you noticed that you get insta killed by teaming gravitons. But think they’re fine. Notice your point about how maps encourage sitting back and waiting ? Combine that with meta pulses and knucklehead (stay hardscoped with pulse) and what do you get ? Oh add fusions take away the need to push anyone. And we wonder why the meta is so bad and population is crap.

      Haven’t played PvP in ages, but decided to go all in during Iron Banner to get that sidearm. My not so young age, reflexes, and lack of familiarity with some maps did work against me a bit, but most of the time I had fun. I got killed by a wide variety of guns, powers, and guardians that were well above my pay grade. There were only a few games when I felt completely overmatched by a team. Got some good gear and a few chill clip sidearms, but no air assault. Did get Impulse Amplifier with one though.

    • I have a hard time believing you never play PVP if you noticed all that that fast. The only things I'd disagree with are duskfield and somewhat sidearms. Freezy javelin is the most cheesy stasis ability. And sidearms are in a good spot in general. Some rpms might be a little weak but sidearms overall shouldn't be too strong because it causes shotgun users to complain and somehow the ultimate result will be a ton of fusion usage somehow.

      • It helps to have dedicated build for PvP. Different perks, mods, exotics… than PvE and it makes a difference in the overall experience. For better or worse, this is not a pure skill based experience like a Counter Strike, but space magic with RPG component.

        • To answer number 4, sidearms themselves are fine, pulses on the other hand are overpowered atm, specifically 340s with headseeker

            I'm a side arm main, and my observation is that when the body shot/headshot ratio was changed a lot of ppl put down closer ranged guns, likely due to an inability to hit precision shots consistently enough at speeds close range engagements take. So yes, likely a skill issue, as to my knowledge side arms still have the lowest optimal ttks, loving anonymous with lone would and precision instrument though, I'd recommend that. Unless they fixed it, I'm not keeping up with patch notes 🤷‍♂️, strand warlock has a bug that let's them punch at light speed, and stasis titan melee has almost no cooldown between powered and unpowered melees. Divinity had a bug one time where it'd crash everyone in the lobbys game and it was kinda funny.
