Well, as we all know, we control a specific character in the entire franchise. The guardian. He has many names... The End of Crota, Slayer of Oryx, Shadow of Calus, Young Wolf, Queen's Guard, Acolyte of Eris, hero of the red war, the associate of the spider, Champion of Violence, Cayde's Favorite, Ect. But we have all wondered something. It's "The Guardian" canonical?. Well, I am no one to decide what is canon and what is not, but according to history the guardian is canonical, since we are literally in charge of murdering all the antagonists of the DLC, except in very specific seasons.
