DO NOT listen to content creators who have barely scratched the surface or who have not played gatcha games telling you Destiny Rising is a good game, this game is not what you think it is and anyone telling you it is good at face value is not a reliable source of information, all opinions are valid but gatcha games take a certain mindset to appreciate. This is not a hate post about Destiny as a whole or even Rising but a realistic take from somebody who does play gatcha games.
These games will lure you in with a lot of currency and minimum pay/grind walls at the start, likely giving away some decent characters or weapons, sometimes allowing story content to be unlimited (so long as your characters are strong enough to progress) but there will be a wall that you can only get over by paying or grinding. When I say grinding I’m not talking about the kind of grind Destiny players are used to, this is the kind of grind usually accompanied by resource/currency time gates that can take weeks or months to equate to someone that dropped hundred of dollars to be at the same point.
The activity’s that feel fun or new now will quickly wear down, the xur rogue like is a good example. Right now it’s enjoyable but what it will come down to is likely having to run the activity tens or hundreds of times to farm the material you need to edge the character you need leveled just a little further to hit the next break point. By the time you do that you’ll log in and the new limited character banner will be up just in time to have to do it again.
The guns you get outside of banners will most likely be an illusion as well, no matter what you farm no weapons will compare to the limited banner weapons they introduce, there will always be a new OP “thing” to get and you’ll only have about a month to get or you’ll be waiting a year for the rerun for your next attempt, oh and you thought just getting the gun/character was enough? Nope, if you want the full potential you’ll need 6 more of it to power it up, historically something like this would cost in the high hundreds of dollars.
No amount of good gunplay will change that this is a gatcha game at its core, can you still have fun with it with the right mindset? Yes. Can you play this game without spending money on characters/weapons? Yes. All I’m trying to get at here is there is a lot of misinformation and praise spreading from people that absolutely do not understand how these types of games work and are just parroting second hand info and don’t actually know first hand how gatcha works just what they’ve heard from somebody else. If you’re not careful you could potentially waste a lot of unnecessary money. Aside from the gunplay or activity enjoyment I would NOT use a Destiny content creators’ opinion specifically unless they have history/understanding with gatcha.
If you’re in need of a content creator worth listening to on this subject I recommend Mtashed, not only does he have history with Destiny but is now primarily a gatcha streamer, he’s already made a couple of videos regarding this and makes a lot of the same points. You know just in case “some guy on the forums that plays gatcha” isn’t good enough for you and you’ll only listen to the gospel of content creators, as if we aren’t all just some random person posting information on the internet. If that’s not enough for you Aztecross also gives a realistic take taking gatcha into consideration, he also references Mtashed’s takes which apparently isn’t good enough for some people even though dude literally makes a living with gatcha.
Final note, this is in no way me saying destiny rising is a bad game, just that gatcha games have a very particular play style and should be gone into with proper information of what to expect which is not being given by content creators unfamiliar. There are definitely people that will enjoy this for what it is.

Edited by xLegalMurder: 9/10/2025 9:09:58 PMthis thread is 100% B.S. hearsay garbage. You literally posted an entire novel of "maybe" and "usually" and "they said." No actual reason to 💩 on the game besides the gacha concept, and I see you posted this entire novel of personal opinion before the game was even released. So far, I've spent absolutely nothing except for $5 on the battle pass TODAY, and it was essentially free because I had $5 in Google Play credits saved. The PVP is balanced even with the P2W aspects, and everything in the game that you can pay for, you can already receive in abundance by just playing the game. They give you only 120 energy for the real tasks (all of which cost 20~ energy to complete) but at the same time, there's so much content that I don't even end up using all 120 daily. Stop hating, spreading misinformation, and passing personal opinion as actual fact. Edit: I've come top 3 in every single PVP event against even some P2W players. They literally nerf OP perks for PVP to level the playing field. The starter character is easily the best character in the game besides the one single actual P2W character available, being Gwynn, and she is made for PVE and not PVP.

1 ReplyThe only thing (so far) I hate about Destiny Rising is that it's getting SRL, after a lot of people asked Bungie to bring it back. Still won't play it anyway. Mobile games are WAY too money hungry for my taste. Just look at Diablo Immortal. Destiny Rising won't be any different. I won't try and stop anyone from playing it. Lessons are best learned from experiencing them.

1 ReplyI don't have a good enough phone to run it lol So I'm not going to bother Does show how much the community wants a refresh, and how much the IP needs a fresh take I mean Net Ease has customizable clan houses, something we have been asking for in D2 for years , and Bungie just ignores it
-
6 RepliesI have more trust in NetEase than bungie
-
But... I want to see what happens when Destinys spinoff game is sucking the players away from Bungies own. I might have a morbid sense of humor, but I find it very funny that Bungie could lose to their own IP.
-
It's free to play and if I pay for anything it is by my own free will. OK, I'll be careful. Thanks for the heads up. Now compare that to buying Destiny 2 & Forsaken on physical disc and Bungie arbitrarily deleting the content I purchased in good faith from the game. Even selling Forsaken discs in stores after it was removed from the game. Bungie's business practices are infinitely worse IMO.

1 ReplyI’ll try Destiny Rising and see what it’s like. If I really enjoy it and play on an ongoing basis then I might drop some money on it. I do have an idea of what to expect as I’ve played a game with gacha elements for a couple years now and still really enjoy it. So far it’s the only game of its type that really ‘clicked’ with me.

18 RepliesSo don't trust opinions about a game in its alpha just because it's a gatcha?
-
Imagine being stupid enough to play a Destiny mobile game. Imagine being stupid enough to play ANY Destiny game.
-
Isn't the game gonna be free? And literally everyone has a phone. We'll just download it when it drops and try jt out
-
Edited by Duke: 11/5/2024 5:45:12 PMPeople, just try the game for yourself and decide on your own. It's free to try, just like D2. Good lord. Also, gacha*

Players (well, many of them) about Destiny 2: "We despise the Eververse, and Bungie will never get a dime from me through this money-grabbing monstrosity." Players looking at the new mobile game: "Wow, even though this is Eververse the Game, I can't wait to try it out." Don't say you were never warned if you play it and feel the itch to pull your wallet out.

1 ReplyIf only the game was canon and not in a alternate timeline

2 RepliesEdited by Morakx: 11/5/2024 12:33:06 PMContent creators should NEVER be taken serious when it comes to ANY opinion about ANY game. They are either paid for their "opinion" or they have future sponsors in mind when censoring their "opinion" for their upcoming benefit. Or they simply desperately try to convince their community to stick with them and therefore talk positive about the game they play even if they think its trash. Theres literally no inbetween. The very very few like 10 streamers out of the millions out there who aren't opinionated based on their income are either back in the normal work life or they got lucky with generous viewers. Everyone else is fake af. Never trust anyone of these fake clowns whos financial benefit is tied to their "opinion" on a game. Golden rule #1 in this social media infested timeline.

3 RepliesBig thing about gachas is they release characters who cost like 100-200 to pull are 100× stronger only to conveniently nerf them like a day before some new op character comes out. People don't care about this though I mean look at Genshins fanbase they'd probably pay 10k a week if they could. Also netease doesn't have a good reputation yet despite this they still have defenders.
-
People playing games like these actively makes the gaming hobby worse.
-
8 RepliesDO NOT listen to content creators who have barely played the game. Listen to OP, who hasn’t played it at all…
-
Content creators are only good for free emblems.

Edited by Killapete232: 11/5/2024 11:55:49 PMGacha games are trash.

So funny people saying it’s good when they are the same people who complain about eververse

"I've seen enough things sponsored by Raid Shadow Legends to know I never want to play it."

Edited by BarStool: 11/5/2024 1:18:16 PMSo essentially the whole thing is that it boils down to being a Gatcha game. A lot of the compliments I have seen about the game is everything not apart of the Gatcha system. I mean, Aztecross himself says that one of the few issue he does have with the game is that it is Gatcha. If the game wasn’t Gatcha, sure it would need some work from its current iteration (it’s still in Alpha afterall) but it wouldn’t be a bad game. And look, if your complaints boil down to it not being as good as Destiny, that is to be expected. It’s a mobile game first and foremost. It’s going to be designed to appeal to mobile players, but because it’s designed for mobile, it has some hardware limitations. It’s not like Fortnite which is a Console/Computer game retrofitted to be able to be played on Mobile either. Edit: to add onto this, people often say that you need to try or do something before you have an opinion on it, even going so far to list the fact that you need some level of in depth experience with the subject, just so you can have an opinion about it, but that’s wrong. People are capable of judging for themselves if they might like or dislike something. So what am I trying to get at? Well, if you watch these reviews expecting an in depth analysis of both the streamers experience along with all the game has to offer, on top of the pros and cons of the systems within in the game, I think your expectations are misplaced. The thing about these videos is that these are not traditionally Gatcha players, meaning they are looking at the game with a unique perspective. Maybe that perspective doesn’t hold the same weight as someone who does have experience in the Gatcha Genre, but the opinion and perspective of that person is still valid. It is possible that they are coming at it from the position many people will also come to the game from.

1 ReplyUnfortunately, sage advice such as this will fall on deaf ears. Everyone who knows what mobile games actually are already knows to avoid it. Everyone else is too busy confusing their instant-gratification Skinner Boxes with P2W systems for "fun" to care what you think. And, unfortunately, there's way more of that latter group than the former. It's one of the primary reasons gaming as a whole has fallen as far as it has.

The thought of a mobile game makes me 🤮

Rev up those wallets!

It's a phone game its going to be a predatory money hungry joke just like every other phone game so this is nothing new. The only news here is its getting everything that we asked for d2. Cool weapon design, unique ideas, better supers designs, and SRL fml. I hate you bungie how could you (srl really) you b@stards I will not be suckered into this I refuse.
