IDK who's idea it was to add a stacking debuff to ignition damage when they pop off less than 6 seconds apart but it is egregious. Doing solo Vespers on warlock is just a damn slog mostly due to the first boss. Really no reason my ignition-built dawn chorus dawnblade should be a 10-phase when I can get an easy 3 phase on my Glacial titan. I really thought I was doing something wrong since I consistently topped DPS with SoF + DBreath in Warlord's, but after a look through reddit, the forums and the Aztecross breakdown video it looks like ignitions just straight up got shadow-nerfed. Its just really sad to see the first ignition chunk the boss' health and then just watch the booms get progressively weaker each time they go off. Its also sad to see that (at least from the posts I've looked at) Bungie hasn't even addressed or acknowledged the nerf.
Edit - Clarification: 10-phase is a test I did using only Dawnblade during DPS

3 RepliesI refuse to play the game until they fix this! I’m sick of them ruining my builds for no reason!

1 ReplyI’m so utterly sick of Bungie’s lying by omission. Why did they change ALL ignitions? Did they think we wouldn’t notice? Why didn’t they just change it for Raneiks Unified in the first place? Lazy, incompetent clowns. And now we have to wait for Act 2 for a fix for something that didn’t need to happen at all. Bungie waste time, money and effort fixing their -blam!- ups, which, if they put some small amount of thought into, never should have happened. SMFH.

Edited by Eden: 10/24/2024 2:42:43 PMIt's a bug. They applied the ignition nerf specifically meant for Raneiks (Vesper's Host boss) to all bosses in the game. To be clear: all bosses were supposed to receive a stacking resistance to ignitions, they just accidentally applied the (much more potent) resistance specifically meant for Raneiks to all bosses.

Well since it's a bug and only supposed to be present on one boss in the entire game, I'm going out on a limb and saying it's going to be fixed. Not reverted, because it's not on purpose outside of one dungeon boss.
-
1 ReplyThis change was apparently only meant for that one boss in the new dungeon, but in typical Bungie fashion, it caused a game-wide bug affecting its damage output across all of PvE. Apparently, they won't have a fix for this until mid-November, about a month from now. With this, the bug preventing New Light players from progressing, and other significant bugs, Bungie is reaching Bethesda levels. A damn shame…

The irony is not lost on me that a shadow nerf was installed for a completely viable strategy on a multi-target boss.
-
Blanket nerf because of one new boss. Typical Bungie move.

8 RepliesEdited by Magiscene: 10/23/2024 2:59:41 AMI’m just sick of them feeling the need to nerf everything fun in the game. In this game’s decline we need buffs not nerfs. We all fell in love with the power fantasy. They need to stop trying to take that away.

1 ReplyIt'll be okay, they're going to fix the bug that their change for the second boss of the vespers host dungeon has caused. In the meantime, there are plenty of other viable builds out there to play. I'm by no means trying to excuse this massive error on their part, but at least we will have a fix for it. And just for the record, my favorite super to run on my favorite subclass, warlock, is song of flame. So this definitely affects me and my overall enjoyment of the game. I am just also able to acknowledge that there are other fun builds out there to play in the meantime

1 Replydoes this affect icebreaker ignition dmg in pvp?

15 RepliesEdited by Howiepenguin: 10/22/2024 9:18:30 PMUntil it is addressed I'll call it an issue. If it was an unmentioned nerf then it could possibly cause a very big outrage throwing more gas on the fire, though not as potent anymore with the aforementioned issue. Diminishing returns joke aside, I hope it is a bug as it does not bode well if it was an unmentioned nerf.
-
It was a Nerf that came with a bug as it was supposed to effect all bosses but the bug made it severe. It's only being removed from all bosses but the Vesper one because of the negativity around it.
-
3 RepliesThey acknowledged the change around the time you posted this. They intended the change to only work for ranieks because of chain ignitions. They messed up and it was a blanket change, now their working to fix it.

4 RepliesThis hurts my soul. I literally just finished tuning an ignition build and went to play it today and didn't hit right now

Edited by ZigZag: 10/23/2024 2:46:18 AMThe most fun I’ve ever had in this game was Starfire 3.0 before the nerf, and I’m a three class guy no favorites. Solar always seems to get nerfed into the ground. Although……., If they’re going to nerf one nerf them all. I’m the first to admit ability spam has downright ruined modern gun collecting for me. Whats the point of grinding for anything now if I can just ability spam through a GM etc. I literally guilded conq last season in one night with prismatic getaway artist and a risk runner, a friggin OG weapon. Never been that easy, ever.

3 RepliesThats really lame if it's true, ignitions are such a cool effect in this game and makes solar my favorite to run so I hope it's not true and maybe a bug within vespers?

Rip Skyburners

Not important. What was important was players duplicating the nuke. Had to patch that out asap.

2 RepliesThe ignition nerf is lame, but if it’s taking you 10 phases to kill a boss that has no health, there’s another issue at hand

Edited by WinterSolstice: 10/22/2024 9:26:22 PMImo wouldn't surprise me if this was how they tried nerfing triple consecration. 1. consecration is strong but not really game breaking 2. Triple slashes is decent but again not game breaking Combine them (And syntho/wormgod) and you got a busted build. Bungie probably thought "To nerf consecration we'll just add a penalty for spamming ignitions!" without thinking about every other ignition based thing. Edit: They confirmed it's intentional but more intense. No bug fix till basically act 2.

7 RepliesSo they just killed Tommy's even more huh
