BABOON & WEASEL Error Codes, "Contacting Destiny Servers" and help.bungie.help unreachable

Hi, I'm still constantly getting BABOON & WEASEL Error Codes and Contacting Destiny Servers since the new season dropped, but I discovered something new & very interesting last night. As I was getting the error codes followed by "Contacting Destiny Servers", I wanted to search the Community for any possible new solutions, but as I tried to load help.bungie.net, it would not load. Both my Mac Studio & PS5 are hard-wired. So I also tried the PS5 browser, and it would not load help.bungie.net either. I tried multiple browsers, and none of them would load the site. Then I tried my iPhone on WiFi, and it would not load it either, so I tried 5G, and then it finally would load on my iPhone. So I decided to try something. As "Contacting Destiny Servers" was continually flashing on my PS5 I started refreshing help.bungie.net constantly on my Mac. I did this for about 5 minutes still while "Contact Destiny Servers" was on my PS5 and at the exact same time as "Contacting Destiny Servers" disappeared help.beungie.net would finally load. Don't know if there is a correlation, but the coincidence is very interesting, to say the least. And I thought that Bungie should know ASAP. I have tried three other modems, two stand-alone modems, and one integrated modem/router. And I've also tested with four other routers. All still report these same errors. I want to test using a VPN because I believe it's the connection to Bungie from my ISP that's the issue. Doing so would, at least, establish a different route from my PS5 to Bungie. I will try to test this method today & report my findings. Has anybody else tried to load that website when they are getting error codes on their PS5? If not, can you the next time you get "Contacting Destiny Servers" to see if help.bungie.net will load? Thanks! -Doren

  • What you are describing is your ISP's inability to route you to Bungie.net / bungie servers. That could mean their is / was a routing issue, an overloaded network, or network disruption between your ISP and Bungie servers. My ISP frequently decides to throttle data on the ports that D2 uses, causing me the constant Contacting Destiny 2 servers. I connect my VPN so it obfuscates my data, and boom, no more problems. Granted I'm on PC so it's easier, but it's good to have this knowledge in case you need to discuss the issue with your ISP. They can generally view data in realtime and see whats happening.

    • Hi there, Thanks for reaching out about this. The WEASEL error code is an all-encompassing error message that is usually an indicator that you are experiencing a general networking issue.
