Finally, Solo Ops is coming for solo players

Thank you Bungie, I am looking forward to this option.

  • I think it's funny watching them scramble to gain back the players they lost just so they can have a tiny chance of keeping their jobs. They need to get a decent game director that understands the value of a diverse playerbase and caters to every aspect of that playerbase including solo players. Commendations, leveling that excludes solo players at level six, basic DLC missions with mechanics that exclude solo players... All those things are insults that were answered by a huge fall off in players and subsequent loss of the studio by Bungie. They turned Bungie into a sinking ship. Funny how they scramble so hard while pretending everything is okay with lies (" we brought the community together like never before"). But yes, it's a big step in the right direction... IF they include s tier loot in those ops. Also "we never want to tell you that you can't play content with your friends." Oh, okay... What was the lost sector exotic thing then? Btw, I loved the solo lost sector exotic chase.

    • This is Bungie. Odds are solo activities are going to be lost sectors selectable directly from orbit. Just with new modifiers and possibly random spawning ng enemies at some point in the future....

      • Solo Ops is a great idea... ten years ago. It's a solution to a problem they've known they've had since the launch of Destiny 1 but refused to invest time into. They finally cottoned on to the scaleable options thing in D1 year 3 and then didn't carry it over into D2. A shame it's taken them so long to do the actual listening they always claimed to and that by the time it arrives, Solo Ops will be for the solo player who's still playing the game...

      • Onslaught normal mode is great for solos and new players and it’s not rewarding enough. After hours and hours with all tonics unlocked and no double perks. Season is over because the rewards are not worth the salt. Same thing will happen when solo ops comes out. Will grind and grind for enhancement shards maybe getting something good for you to grind weeks and never getting anything for you to give up and everyone hating it because there’s no reason to run the activity

      • Same, it is so cool. They also went the extra mile and spiced up encounters. Random groups of enemies invade as you progress. There are so many things for solo players, along with things to add to more of the universe. In the details, lots of great things to come for all of us. I consider myself an everything player, but when I am solo, Lost Sectors are my go-to. I enjoy the build crafts, rare unseen locations, and the end rewards. This goes even further, making solo experiences the main event and solidifying what Destiny is, being able to engage based on your small time to make progress and have fun. So excited for these missions!

        A little too late for many SOLO players who already quit the game bc they were unable to participate in high end content and that has not yet changed. Making vanguard ops for solo players will not motivate any solo players to comeback to the game bc they're still unable to play high end content. The class item is still unavailable to solo players which motivated many players to quit the game. If Bungie wants to correct their mistakes, they should make the class activity available for solo players. Vanguard ops right now is really trash with all those Battlegrounds strikes. I actually believe this new solo activity is a slap in the face to solo players bc the class activity is still unavailable to solo players. Bungie only cares about all the money they're losing due to low player count...they reek of desperation.

        I would prefer they would take like 20 minutes each. And let's see how quick the elitists in this game start asking Bungie for changes to cater to them. That said, I [b]REALLY[/b] hope Bungie takes this opportunity to make the exotic class item to drop just a single time and just for those solo players that don't have it unlocked yet.

          Knowing this community, the solo players will still not get the hint and complain that dungeons, raids, and other team based are not included in solo play.

          • Mean while they screw solo players even more, for instance we can no longer reach even pathetic guardians level 7 anymore solo. Anything they can to force us to play with the multitude ( ya know, the 500 or so -blam!- that validate themselves with minor Destiny achievements) of -blam!- in LFG. No solo friendly dungeon mode, i guess I threw my money away on a dungeon key, but it’s the last time. Couldn’t get the ten year badge, it doesn’t matter to bungie that I have thousands upon thousands of hours or that in D1 I played every raid. That I’ve bought every expansion and spent money in eververse. No, all I get from bungie for years of dedicated support is a big middle finger. Well I have a middle finger too, Bungie

            • The loot is going to cause complaining. It always does. Look at this from Bungie's perspective: solo players want activities just for them, so let's have those activities drop loot that is commensurate with 10 minutes of solo playtime. Rewards should be good, but not great, after all, we built them 3-person dungeons and 6-person raids for the good stuff. Solo Ops is not designed to be end-game content so there's no need to populate it with end game rewards, right? Surely players will grasp that self-evident concept with no trouble. Solo Ops loot won't be what the solos are picturing right now, and they will get mad. Solos will complain that inferior loot relegates them to the little kids table, makes them second-class citizens and victims, and they deserve the good stuff. I help people every time I'm online playing Destiny and sooooo many solo players want a version of this game where they can do EVERYthing with no comms, they get perfect team mates from matchmaking, and everything they do drops the best loot available. That's not reality. Not even close. I appreciate Bungie looking at player engagement and designing around the "holes" in the player experience, but I suspect the true-blue committed solo player will NEVER be satisfied or happy in the game. Bungie's own words are: "we’ve built on the promise of Destiny as a game where you can come together with other Guardians and enjoy the game together," and this puts solo players on the fringe of the core player experience BY DESIGN. I hope this makes things better, I really do. I often hop on when I have 30-60 minutes and tackle shorter, solo content like the pinnacles we are grabbing in week two of an episode (just need those Hunter gloves and I get another character to 2010!) But I don't plan on eating appetizers for dinner; I'm looking forward to raids and dungeons with my friends in the evening or on the weekends.

            • Meh. I don’t need a tailored solo activity. I just need more activities to be able to be done solo. Presage is a great example when it came out. It’s easy now, but gave you a challenge as a solo or fire team when it first came out. It was fun. You didn’t even need a sliding calculator, but there were some puzzles involved, none of the craziness that we have now.

              • They were really condescending in their language, making out that solos are weak players and whining about how it's all too tough. All we asked for is a fair shot at stuff, not a handout. Didn't ask for shorter, easier content, just content that's scaled for a solo player. It'll be interesting to see how it turns out.

                • I read their developer blurb and the words are good. 10 minute opportunities for XP & rewards. Rewards scale up with performance. Underused locations. Variety in the combat. Can play solo or with friends - making them great for teaching the basics without some rando running ahead and killing everything because bounties. Sounds a lot like what I expected to be available in patrol areas 10 years ago.

                  • They should allow us to solo other options like gambit 1v1 option or dual destiny but put in champions to beat to extend timers would be nice
