This modifier in just regular strikes has to be one of the worst modifier decisions I’ve seen implemented since Old Match Game in Nightfalls. I’d rather have invisible baby screebs glitching through floors over whoever thought this would be a “interesting” modifier.
It’s not quirky, it’s not opening up variety, it’s an experimental chokehold that is so punishing for players doing minor strikes that it’s making people not even touch the playlist while it’s active.
And Traveler forbid you even think of putting this in Nightfalls or GMs.
Patch this out ASAP and let’s all forget that this was ever a thing.

This is the reason I've been grinding out regular strikes and not playlist for Strange Coins to get my Xurfboard. Nevermind that certain builds require racking up kills with certain weapons continuously to be effective (Bad Juju/Skull/Nova builds, Bad Juju/Spirit of Galanor builds for example) or certain weapons are just better for ad clear (Trinity Ghoul, Witherhoard, Lost Signal, Wave Frame GLs) and this modifier makes both of these useless.

4 RepliesHere’s where auto-loading holsters come in REALLY handy.
-
5 RepliesHaven done few strikes and this modifier didn't come up for me. Why is it annoying? What does it do?
-
I agree with you 1000% it a dumb modifier that a throwback from d1 it should have stayed there and this coming from a destiny 1&2 vet with 10+years in game all your going to do bungie is drive players away with this logic.
-
1 ReplyIs that the one that if you stay still (like shooting from behind cover) that you get damaged ? I also had some weird stuff where my health was getting leached by a purple beam ... what in the f is this ?? This is not destiny anymore .
-
What is that modifier? I haven't seen it yet.
-
Agreed, sometimes I like to get on and run some strikes despite the slow rep gain from them, just to test out fun builds or space out for a bit. Oscillation sucks, counterfeit sucks, haste sucks. Please, Bungie, get rid of these modifiers. I see them, and I leave the playlist because of how bad they are.
-
2 RepliesAlso counterfeit it’s complete BS not funny what so ever
-
Definitely an annoying modifier
-
Vanguard Ops was a large part of my gameplay, Oscillation? Nah, no thanks, I’ll play something else for FUN until it rotates out. Bungie, you can keep your stupidity!
-
For a company that is flying dangerously close to the sun with their assinine decisions, it really is shocking they just keep pumping out garbage. And marathon will be a guaranteed failure. What happens then?? They neglect their main money maker and have no promising upcoming projects. Sony will 100% take over.
-
The modifier nerfs weapons in real-time. This is the pinnacle of Bungie's development ambitions. There's no way they are getting rid of something like this when they have achieved perfection.
-
1 ReplyHaven’t played with the modifier yet so I don’t know much about it. It doesn’t make sense to me. Do both weapons start at 100% and doing damage lowers that gun while boosting damage over 100% for the other, or is each gun capped at 100% damage maximum and can only be lowered from there?

Game design, often lost on the extremely dim, reflects not in game quality but their inability to engage intellectually with its art. They mistake complexity for error, critique from ignorance, and miss emergent gameplay, mechanics, and story integration due to a profound cognitive disconnect.
-
I haven’t toyed with it, but it sounds super not fun.

9 RepliesI think Oscillation largely falls down due to its specificity. Having two small sets of weapons types (Scouts, Pulses and GLs vs SMGs and Shotguns) that play off of each other with this Modifier while leaving every other Primary and Special ammo weapon with a damage penalty (luckily Heavy weapons are exempt from this mechanic) makes Oscillation far too restrictive in my opinion. I feel they could improve the Modifier greatly by simplifying it to “Dealing damage with Kinetic Slot weapons gradually reduces their damage while increasing the damage of Energy Slot weapons, and vice versa”. And if the devs feel that some level of restriction on loadouts is absolutely necessary to the identity of the modifier then I believe something like “Dealing damage with Primary ammo weapons gradually reduces their damage while increasing the damage of Special ammo weapons, and vice versa” would be a more palatable version than the Modifier as it currently exists. (΄◉◞౪◟◉`)

2 RepliesAs long as the modifier makes streamer types happy, who cares what anyone else thinks? Every new modifier I've seen this season sucks the big one. It's not Oscillation alone that destroys one's willingness to play through the playlist, but all of them together. Bungie needs to revert the game to the way it was. I really don't care if a streamer is begging you to turn up the grandmaster impossibility to 11; don't listen!

13 RepliesEdited by knomey: 10/17/2024 5:45:11 AMIt’s not a bad modifier I love using different weapons and being forced to use weapons in real time is a nice touch guess some people just wanna use the same thing over and over with no switch up to the gameplay loop
-
5 RepliesThey should just remove that “all other weapons deal reduced damage” part. I’ve seen players sit on full heavy and special at all levels. I’m pretty sure they just want you guys to actually switch weapons because lord knows you don’t.
-
I agree
-
Yeah, I decided at reset yesterday that I would not be touching the playlist until today when the modifiers rotated again. It is one of the worst modifiers I've seen added to the game in a long while. Limiting the builds that players can go into a normal playlist with is a dumb decision. Leave those kinds of modifiers for the sweats.
-
Totally disagree, play into the artifact. Running a stasis build with stasis sub, fighting lion and stasis wave frame heavy GL and had a blast on the strikes I ran. The damage with 3x on the sub was unbelievable.
-
You know it’s a bad modifier if your whole team wipes in a darkness zone in the normal strike playlist. Specifically the tank room in Proving Grounds. I read the modifier description, but I didn’t think it would go that bad. The rest of the strike didn’t go as poorly after that first wipe though. That modifier needs to be removed, or reworked to where the weapons that don’t get buffed or penalized from the modifier aren’t as useless than the weapons with the 3x decay stack.

6 RepliesWhat’s that
-
Yeah it seems like a pretty terrible idea tbh.

I mean I usually feel forced to use Scout Rifles, Pulse Rifles, anything with precision really. I like swords and auto rifles. Worldline Zero did great in the strike I ran with oscillation. Plus your Guardian has these things called Space Magic. Try a grenade or a melee sometimes, Pro Sniper
