Bungie Team,
I’m not sure if you read these, but I’d like to offer some perspective on the day 1 dungeon experience.
My fireteam and I met through our clan. We’ve been through quite a lot, D2 related and otherwise, but we always manage to make time for two things: day 1 expansion runs and day 1 dungeons.
Day 1 dungeons are a particular favorite of mine. Running through blind, solving puzzles, general shenanigans… I genuinely love the time we’ve spent playing on day 1.
I just got off our Discord call from our attempt. We gave up. And I feel terrible.
I know it sounds ridiculous. Who cares? It’s a video game. But the memories I have from our day 1 experiences I treasure. Figuring out the traps in GoA, shooting bells prematurely just for kicks in Duality, even struggling with the first boss of Ghosts… it was just special. I don’t know how else to describe it.
After this though, I feel like I got hit by a truck.
I get it. Contest mode is fun and exciting. I’ve watched every raid race since GoS. But please, reconsider. Even if it’s adding a normal mode option.
I’ve watched my active clan crumble during Lightfall and many friends have dropped the game for other experiences. And adding this… it just feels awful.
I love Destiny. I’ve met some fantastic friends, and I’ve loved the time I’ve had, and I’ll continue to see out the story as it comes along. But please, reconsider your decision for future dungeons.

1 ReplyIt was literally 6 hours at most.... This is such a non-issue. My god.
-
18 RepliesEdited by Pozey: 10/12/2024 8:17:04 PM5 hours... you only had to wait 5 more hours to get the normal mode and still have 19 more hours to get your day 1 with your clan done
-
I'm sorry that contest was forced upon you. What ever will you do with the other 364 days 18 hours and 27 minutes of the year to run it on normal?
-
1 Reply“Forced” Guy, About 5 hours after it’s release 3 teams cleared it and normal opened up for everyone. 😂
-
3 RepliesI understand the frustration, but you can still experience that same thing by playing through the normal version after the first 3 clears
-
7 RepliesOnce 3 teams complete it on contest, doesn't normal mode become available?
-
10 RepliesHoly -blam!- I'm so tired of this take. Normal mode releasing at the same time as contest ruins contest because all the strats will be figured out. You had to wait 5hrs. The competitive PVE community gets 2-3 days a year.
-
They won’t read it. Sorry. Prove me wrong.
-
I'm not sure whether to be jealous or offer my condolences. For this to be a problem, you either don't have any real problems or you make everything into a problem. It's unclear which.
-
Good news, it's not forced. Wait a few hours for the first 3 to finish then play normal mode
-
5 RepliesJesus, normal is ALREADY AVAILABLE. Quit crying
-
It was only done to appease the streamers... Not trying to hate on 'em but that's the main motivation for doing so
-
Agree it’s just not inclusive for 99.9% of the playerbase, a mistake by them that only breeds negative sentiment
-
Even though you only had to wait a couple of hours for the people that "play" this game for a living to make standard more available, I do think Bungie has been making dungeons too difficult for solo players even on standard mode. This game used to be fun but now its 90% chores and 10% fun.
-
Absolutely, it's such a stupid decision.
-
bungie is destorying its coumminty birck by brick do I need to say more. They should of made this first dungeon contest a little bit easy.
-
I agree its weird they never made a contest mode tab as a select option for contest activities since that can easily be tracked while those that just want to experience the dungeon/raid on normal on its release (it regardless of the time) is weird.
-
That mode to me feels like it’s there to appease the streamers so they can get their twitch subs. The game as whole is just unrewarding and has been for a while. I only play it now for the social side as I’ve made some good friends Once I get my PC D2 will be a once a week play for me but I can see it just being shelved. It’s just so mediocre.
-
This is a whole lot of yapping, with a sprinkle of "my team couldn't do it, so it's not fair" thrown in? I guess I'm just missing the point
-
Don’t worry, it’s not forced.
-
They can’t change major things on the fly like flipping a light switch. It is what it is and it’s really not a big deal.. You could be running it too.
-
Standard difficulty is now available. (΄◉◞౪◟◉`)
