Hi all! The reason for my post is to gather some community sentiment on Day 1 of the Second Episode. I hope to appreciate another POV from Guardians, as a means to enjoy the game.
My first impressions and thoughts of this Episode within 1 hr are :
1. Stasis "almost everything" on the Artifact = no fun for my play style. It's just not for me. What can I do to work around this?
2. If this Episodic Model is heavily Stasis-based, what have been the experiences in Crucible & Strikes so far? Is it as oppressive and horrible as Beyond Light?
3. Potion Brewing. Really? Diablo 1&2 got this right in 1999, and Eva Levante will no doubt make us brew/bake stuff throughout the year. Do we really need more of this?
4.Why do I have to play Onslaught to progress? Where's the mission/storyline (something please FFS) outside of Ritual Activities?
The main concern is (only for me) alternative game modes like PvP or Battlegrounds WITHOUT having to put up with Ice Walls, Freezing , Silence and Effing Squall etc non stop. The straw that broke the Camel's Back is when I tried to use Wicked Implement as my Anti- Barrier Main as a way of "working with the system". That proved to be a FAIL on my part by the looks of things.
FYI, I loaded in 45 mins into the update and got stuck into the story, but I have disengaged 100% for now. I'm bewildered at the near zero enthusiasm I am experiencing ATM.

Also ceased playing, seemed interesting to begin with, then came the nonsensical potion bull, 75% of which was back and forth listening to yet more talk bull, and yes, forced onslaught, which in itself is a chaotic mess, so, 2 hrs in and I said enough is enough .. Friend just got the new warlock chest piece, apparently, its next to unusable, the "storm" effect obliterates vision, he said he could not see through it as it was like a thick fog .. One of the worst seasonal drops so far, cheap, short and lazy product ... What the hell has happened to the "imagineers" at Bungie, Destiny no longer has any kind of identity of its own, it consists of copies and fragments of multiple franchises, its a convoluted shambles ..

1 ReplyEdited by glitchHiker: 10/10/2024 9:05:10 AMNo seasonal crafting, no Engram focusing, pinnacle cap increased, terrible/grindy tonic system, recycled onslaught, terrible artifact with no hand cannons/auto rifles/sidearms - definitely the worst season I've ever seen. Everything they've done has been to slow progress, increase grinding and put up barriers to getting what we want. Most likely because of how little effort they put into the story (act 1 finished in an hour without the timegating or as much busy work) and activities and they had to pad out the content somehow. I stopped playing completely. I may come back to do the new dungeon and get the new nightfall/trials/IB weapons by that's it. If they don't bring back crafting, simplify this horrible tonic system and give us something better than onslaught then there's no way in hell I'm ever touching frontiers. It already sounded like a terrible plan for the future. If this episode is an example of the "replayability" and "evolution" in frontiers then no thank you. It's just the least amount of effort they think they can get away with. I mean, onslaught was a free update and now they're repackaging it as a paid episode!? Players shouldn't be letting them get away with this, stop playing as I have, vote with your time.

1 ReplyFor the first time in ten years, I wasn’t remotely interested in playing on day 2 of a season. Being forced into that Exotic mission endlessly during the last season was bad enough (but I gritted my teeth and did it, although mainly once they took the darkness zones out of the boss fights). Forcing me into Onslaught, which I loathe, making everything about Stasis which I have never really had an interest in as a subclass, and then all of that potions toilet can all absolutely Foxtrot right Oscar.
-
Did the mission stuff logged out and didn’t play for the rest of the day, felt super let down.
-
All the nerfs, utterly lackluster story and boring -blam!- activities. I mean even the new onslaught mode has so little variety that you run into the same bosses 2-3 times per 50 waves run. It's just sad how Bungie is driving the game against the wall.
-
My experience? Terrible update. Bungie's making the game worse with every update, the nerfs outweight the buffs by a thousand fold, and I've already lost my fireteam because of their terrible decisions. Bungie, learn to actually improve, not take 50 steps backwards off a cliff.

4 RepliesThe most exciting thing about this season is craftable Garden weapons. Potion system is a bit convoluted and not explained well. I used to farm ALL seasonal weapons to unlock the patterns but with them not being craftable there’s only like one or two I’ll be going for now.

8 RepliesEdited by ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ: 10/9/2024 11:05:53 AMJust finished up for today. All in all, I’m disappointed. I found literally 2 weapons I’d keep to use, from a ton of Onslaught. Did a 2030 50 wave. Did an 2065 50 wave. Ran the 10 waves 8 times. Lotsa garbage rolled stuff, tbh. Was using lotsa tonics, as well.

Bored already and I hate stasis.
-
1 ReplyNot entirely thrilled about potions. Agree about the relic. Most seasons had at least two elemental types to build on. This is nothing but stasis, stasis and more stasis. I have hated that class ever since it first launched.

Edited by Mark, Scholar of Stars: 10/10/2024 1:21:37 PMDemotivation. I stopped after the introduction of Eido's workshop. It's just nothing new, except for a micromanagement system that was designed to create artificial time ingame. It isn't even fun, it's just a necessity for continuing with the game to create progress. Bungie's getting just more unimaginative. At least, it's a foretaste of what Codename Frontiers will be, but not a good one. Edit: I take a look at it once more, I don't want to be unfair.

Haven't seen too much stasis in PvP yet but its still really early. So far its mostly the "little" stuff that I'm noticing that's making feel like the game's going to be okay. The only problem I have with the artifact is that its hard to have all the stasis stuff and really anything else like the grenade things or the couple of arc or void things. And champion mods shouldn't cost anything at this point. Everyone should just have all of the available mods for that episode. The potion crafting is one of those things that I probably won't really use until like this weekend or next week. It looks interesting, I just need to farm bygones and use bygoneses. Other than that, there's a lot of good qol stuff so far and I like the fact that the game is starting to feel more like it just exists rather than that its constantly struggling for existence by maximizing foot traffic. That feeling going away won't be missed by me and with these episodes maybe they can figure out how to increase the kind of foot traffic that makes the game a better videogame instead of just a game that's just increasing everything all over the place.

I saw that almost all of the weapons were stasis and dipped

I am confused about how short act 1 was. I beat the mission “Nothing Left to Say” and my quest vanished so I am assuming that was the end of Act 1?? Other than that, I was pleasantly surprised when I landed in The Last City! I love it. That truly shocked me and caught me off guard (if they showed it in any stream or promo material maybe I am blind cause I was not expecting a new place). As for Onslaught, I like the new maps. I like Onslaught as a whole so I can just go crazy and test my builds and stuff.
-
I'm more excited about the lost city design and colors.

6 RepliesI cant play it. I missed something so i abandoned the quest in order to restart it from the quest archive, but now I can't play it at all. I'm really upset about it because i can't get it noticed enough. I don't play other characters, I do everything on my Warlock. Its depressing that I simply wont be able to play this whole entire season I was looking forward to.
-
1 ReplyI mean, yeah, it does suck. But at this point, I'm just going to ignore it and focus on some of the others stuff in the game. Besides, I already don't like the seasonal weapons and armors and stuff. The other weapons, including the ones for Nightfall, the Bygones pulse rifle in Gambit, maybe the ones in Trials of Osiris, and crafting the Garden of Salvation weapons are all I care about. I don't know what kind of weapons and armor are going to be in the new dungeon, but if any of them are worth, I might be interested. Otherwise, this really feels like the laziness season/Episode Bungie has ever worked on. If anything, it feels like they only worked on half of what last Episode was like. This is the fifth worst thing - at least in my opinion - Bungie has ever gave us. I honestly expect this was going to be terrible, but I don't care enough to rant about it.
-
2 RepliesYou shouldn't need to crutch an artifact to complete content. Artifact perks are extra flavor for simply playing the game that you can choose to engage with. Even the champion perks can be ignored with subclass verbs and plenty of exotic weapons/perks cover champion types.
-
Can't get caydes fate complete. New player. Hating the community for the toxicity around character choice, can't play the unplayable. Why would anyone play this? It is actually worse than warframe. The story is worse, the mechanics are worse and every weapon is the wish version of the alternative in Warframe. I really dislike everything about it

2 RepliesEdited by Mudd-11: 10/9/2024 11:03:39 PMOverall, feels a bit better than last Season but not by very much. I would say that it has potential, though it probably won't be an amazing one. As the story goes, here is my opinion:
So the amount of exposition in the initial cutscene was too much, which with the amount of the cutscenes required felt like I was playing a Kojima game with minimal action in the middle of a movie. Not that the cutscenes were bad nor am I upset at the amount, but rather the ratio between mission and cutscene. The first mission should have come before the initial cutscene, because clearly Crow should not have known Fikrul was relevant until arriving on Europa and seeing him battling Eramis. (On a side note, I had to laugh at the "she's getting away" line from Crow while she casually strides forward.) The exposition cutscene should have come after the H.E.L.M. goes down, which felt like a missing scene where it crash lands and then cut to black, offering players the option to return to the story or Tower. A second mission should have then unlocked to fend off Scorn from attacking the wreckage, while the ship was being salvaged. This would have also been the perfect opportunity to introduce the turret feature added to Onslaught, while Crow and Eramis help the survivors to safety. I appreciated the diplomacy mission on the old Gambit map (still mad about it being neglected and added to a different mode before Gambit) as tension built over a couple minutes as more and more Scorn wandered in. I certainly feel compelled to help the Eliksni and try to save Mithrax, (who is too cool of a character for them to retire, really hope they don't "finish" his story) so I am certainly engaged here. This feels like a proper cliffhanger for the story, so not too upset about the pause. We need to save more Eliksni and gather reagents, which should be our main priority. The projectors are once again problematic, when we just talked to Eido 10 feet away and in the case of Eramis, on the other side of the wall who also does not have a guard at all, very strange. They need to stop doing that, if we are literally on the same location together.
I haven't played the new activity yet, so no opinion currently, but should keep me busy for a few weeks and the Dungeon drops in a couple days which also should keep me occupied. The other two activities coming later in the Season also seem interesting as well. But right now it seems like there are lots of bugs, so I am not going to go too fast here.

Loved it… lots of fun

4 RepliesOverall, it's okay as far as destiny standards go... there's always the wtf was that moments, or just plain why!! Early days, so stuff still to figure out, and stuff to get used to! This doesn't matter to most people, but I just can't get my head these sorts of story moments... for example, why character a, ushers character b in a certain direction (at the end of the first mission) when they both just get teleported away anyway! The stuff that makes the game feel worse - Menu interactions are really bad all of a sudden; I understand this to be a bug, and hope they can fix quick. Counterfeit modifier; I cannot tell you how many times this mod killed me!! It deals damage for 90% of my health bar, with 100 res so you only need to be pinched by something before/after and you dead... in regular strikes!! This might not be so bad for range players, but for melee/sword/shotgun builds this will hurt!! + it will double impact things like exploder units - if they don't get you the first time, they will the get you the second time! Stasis is my least favourite subclass, but although I'm not looking forward to using it as much... it would be cool to switch my play style around for a season to breath some freshness in.

All of what you state is true, but I will do you one better... I thought we use to have the option ( in seasons), to opt in... Apparently, no longer. You see, I had a season, echo, episode in hand. I did not want any part of Fikrul, crow, variks, eramis, eido... I was hoping to save it for the dreadnaught. But nope! Bungie auto- enrolled me in this mess of a story... How about that crash, huh!?! Nice dramatic story telling there. If it's drivel ad nauseum... Call on Bungie. However, if you want anything other than teen crush of the week... Don't look to Destiny. What a horrible year this is. What a horrible year it has been! Way to cater to the faithful. Give us nothing. Use my $$ in your other IP 's go ahead. Strip destiny to it's core once again. Go ahead, it's okay. It is your funeral. Armour again for the third time? I gave Bungie the benefit of the doubt the first three times... Times up.
