Tonic Table/Brewing = Convoluted Mess
This is the worst nonsense and completely unintuitive mess I've ever seen in this game!
Apart from the Tonic Brewery Guide being buggy and now blocked one of my characters from brewing any tonics - thanks for that btw! - what even is the point?
* Sometimes you have to get a reagent from the shelf, sometimes not - is this random?
* A dozen of silly materials you need to farm to actually do this tonic nonsense
* Then you gotta put stuff in here, drink there, do some other mumbojumbo to get a tonic
* Then these fieldwork tasks that somehow enhance somewhat and then you need to discover more tonics to unlock more of those quests
* How do you even discover new tonics? I have 7 now - do I need to grind the heck out of the "brand new" seasonal content and hope for a lucky drop? Is it timegated?
* The info thingy on the tonic table says you can discover more powerful tonics by synthesizing related tonics and a not specified item description should have more information - excuse me, but what?
* Is there any info but this stuff written in a language nobody can understand?

Why does brewing the tonics take so long. Brew, taste Animation More animation obtain it. Why not simply brew and pickup.

5 RepliesLets just look at the taste test and that bullshit.. its literally doing nothing but taking up more time to show us annimations that do nothing to invest us in the game or what is happening. Just keeps us logged in and not actually earning loot. For a looter, has anyone noticed the amount of time we are pushed away from shooting our guns and looting stuff?

If you craft enough green tonics you unlock the equivalent blue tonics. I am working through that, then will do the same for blue and see if that makes purple ones…. Otherwise not sure but yeah, Tonics suck, are pointless and aren’t fun. The crafting process is unnecessarily complex and they have done it to remove crafting which isn’t great. Otherwise am enjoying the new Onslaught and the lore!

Also, picking ingredientes to make tonics? Really Bungie? This is what you meant when you implied that epidodes would be better than seasons? A Dawning like boring routine supported by the return of a six month old activity with some small changes? An increase in Power level when 95% of the pinnacle source is behind high level endgame activities? Is this your vision for the future of content in Destiny? No wonder you're bleeding players. Soon enough not even the ones you tuned this game for (streamers and youtubers) will be playing Destiny. Try to guess why. (A free tip: trying hard won't save your game if you keep making the same mistakes. Think out of the box.)

Honestly, making the tonics is just a bunch of unnecessary running around, made even more apparent by the fact there is a triumph reward that removes the need to grab reagents from the shelf. Why even have that as a step in the process to begin with if you're just gonna remove it so easily? It should've all just been done at the table. Play a little animation of us pouring a bunch of beakers and flasks and maybe a little puff of smoke, tonics done. Even better, let us make them from the Tonic menu instead of going back and forth to the last city every time. I mean, if you're gonna copy the dawning formula, go all in and just give us a portable lab.

I play shooters because I hate all that stuff that you find in fantasy games. Mix this, drink that, scavenge ingredients all day long. Nope, not doing it. Looks like this 'expansion' is more like a contraction.

Agreed, this potions nonsense is an unnecessary, complicated chore. It seems as if Bungie is deliberately trying to turn players away from the game. Baffling decision after baffling decision.
