No Weapon Crafting this season.

I hope all the burgers that wanted this enjoy wasting hours on end in a boring seasonal activity to not get the weapon they want for 3+ months.

  • I mean they added a focusing aspect. Buddy plays a looter shooter and complains about not getting the drop he wants in 4-5 runs of an activity because it’s not craftable. The game has lacked that chase for some time now and crafting ruined so many aspects of the classic looter genre. Let me guess, single father, 6kids, 70 hours a week?

    • Im sad, no crafted weapons this season. One of the things I actually look forward to in the game. My time actually invested in working toward something, -blam!- roll, that I crafted. Can we at least get a vendor that has older craft able weapons. When will Bungie learn?

      • lol but "chasing" things is what keeps these people entertained! They need something to do! 🙄 I can't relate to that. I play because I like to shoot aliens and other players. I don't want to play an activity 300 times for a stupid random roll I'm satisfied with. How is that even fun?

        • Between trying to chase the non-craftables in Deep and Witch and grinding for dungeon guns, just for 2/5 rolls too, my incentive to chase non-craftables is just gone. There's only so many times you can go; garbage roll, garbage roll, garbage roll, dupe roll, garbage roll, armor, garbage roll, garbage roll; before you just don't care anymore.

Unlocking the pattern IS the motivation I use to grind the activities to be able to get the red borders to unlock them. Taking them away is just making me want to just do the story and then wait for the next story beats and with them removing the time gates for the story in each act it means I will probs be playing the game even less as a result. Way to bungle it Bungie.

            • Why not just disable crafting of weapons until the final few weeks of the season?

With you on this one. Crafting needs a bit of a rework for sure, but with no vault space and many rolls "expiring" when they do weapon tuning, crafting was a huge buffer here. Would be ok with this if you could use matts to reroll a perk or something. They just need a little imagination to make this better.

              • Yeah, this is a dumb change. Like, really dumb. I've ground out every single Red Border in the game (with the sole exception of Salvation's Edge weapons, because I really only want to do that raid with my clan, and we still have lots of time). Even when my 5/5 roll drops (and it has a few times), I will finish out the Pattern. I refuse to grind out 5/5 rolls by RNG alone; I'm gonna stop at the perks I want and be done with it. That's what I did with ITL, and that's what I'll do here. Crafting essentially gives us another way to store weapons; we don't need to store rolls in our limited Vault space if we can just craft them later. Not to mention the fact that perks get buffed and nerfed semi-regularly; being able to recraft the weapon gets around issues like it being Content Vaulted. And it's not like Bungie literally admitted Vault space was gonna be exacerbated by Armour 3.0 and they still don't have a good answer to it.... Oh wait, they said exactly that. Are the weapon and armour teams even talking to eachother? So my play time will probably go down, not up (and that's before Monster Hunter Wilds comes out next year). GG Bungo, great change.

Not a fan of the non-crafting only because once the year ends we don't know how to obtain these weapons again, if we get to obtain them again. I saw an arc grenade launcher in the heavy slot. If that thing is a DPS monster, then people a year later who missed out on it or weren't there for it are missing out on what is right now potentially the best arc heavy GL out there. (Emphasis on if it is a DPS monster with envious/ Bait & Switch or explosive light) Farming should be there and respected, but crafting should be guaranteed when they exit.

Bungie going all in on every little way of getting players to spend more time in game. Remove crafting, and just slide it in as an offhand remark. Make the new seasonal activity a reskin of Onslaught, the activity that takes around 45 minutes to get to Level 50. What are the odds that, if you want your pinnacle to get you to the newly raised power cap, you'll have to do more than one as you, yet again, rescue some hostages. You know, like we did in the first season last year. Want that god roll ?? .. get in that activity Guardian but your chances will be somewhere between slim and none because you know, RNG. Clearly all about bumping up those engagement numbers. Standby for their paid for YouTube Shills to shovel out just how super awesome this all is. Bungie don't care if you enjoy your time in the game. They just need you in it to stop their next job being Pete Parson's full time car washer. Sony must really be turning the screw. GTA 6 out in a year as well. Frontiers is going to be right up against it.

                  • Just keep killing the game for the causals. I don’t trust the rng Bungie uses. When they throttle perks and make it impossible to get good rolls, I just get sick of playing and play less, not more. I can cite so many examples of guns I chased and never got the roll I wanted. The time in does not equal good rewards in this game and crafting mitigated that to a large degree. Watch the player counts drop faster next season. Poor choices keep being made. The try hards who think this is a good idea play 30 hours a week. Good luck out there.

                    • Tbh personally I don't care about any new weapons whether craftable or not. I didn't buy FS this time and I didn't feel left out in activities with my "old" gear. I still have a full vault and more options in any gear type than I can ever use. Embarras de richesses.

                    • Agreed and upvoted. Bungie will lose even more players with this kind of changes, made to please only the 1% that no-life this game. Sunsetting armor is another one. All the time that players spent farming for their "perfect" armor will soon be disrespect by Bungie and thrown to garbage. Again, they learned nothing from past mistakes, they keep repeating them and expecting new outcomes.

Onslaught is far from boring it's one of the few activities that actually takes effort to complete fully. This isn't battlegrounds where it practically plays itself. Also, when an episode is more than 3 months long, god forbid the loot chase is designed around that right? Even still, this focused loot thing that was brought with Into The Light isn't going to take 3 months that's obviously a massive exagerration. It's much better for a loot chase to last you 1-2 months than for it to last 1-2 weeks max and the literal only reason it's 1-2 weeks is because it's timegated. With rng, you have the ability to farm in 1 week. Crafting has brought so much timegating to the loot chase because it's the only way they stop people crafting perfect god rolls in the first week and it just stalls any excitement.

                      • For weapons that come from raids and such, I’m all cool with weapon crafting to help out with the grind. But seasonal weapons and world drops, I’m perfectly fine with them being RNG drops. This game showers loot from these areas. Most of the time I have the weapon frames completed in the first few weeks and makes all reward drops for the season meaningless as I’ve already got the weapon frames and who needs armor.

                        • My hope is that the early predictions will be right. That we’ll get the crafting patterns pretty easily at the end of the episode. So the chase is there for everyone throughout the season, but the crafted versions drop for everyone as bad luck protection.

                          • One of the biggest reasons I play this game still is because as a PvP player, I save up my Deepsight things and at the next season I can basically instantly craft the weapon I want the most. I can’t do that now. Now I have to go grind in PvE, which is just not worth it, considering the weapons are only like 0.01 percent better than their predecessors, if at all better.

                            • With you on that one, I have a very specific amount of play time in a week, Crafting lets me get the weapons with a relativly definable period of time; this just means, I get one of each weapon, and feck it, thats me done on the act, especially with the story being entirely front loaded too. Hilarious to see they also made comment on the issue of vault space.. which for many of us is half full of multiple weapon rolls for guns .. something crafting helped reduce.. so they are making their ackowledged problem worse, by moving the stuff they had already introduced that helped lessen it to later !

Getting a five by five roll will be very 😣 tiring.. so won’t even try… all the raid weapons that I have will just use those
