About a week and a half ago, I noticed someone changing sound settings when I'd log on for my daily D2 time. Days later, I was issued PVP bans/warnings even though I'm a strictly PVE player.
I changed my Steam PW. Problems solved, right? Wrong! Next was a small number of missing vault items used to buff some PVP God Roles that I've never used. I read up on account security, enabled 2-step, SteamGaurd, deactivated all devices, etc.
This seemed to piss the person off, so they deleted my Titan (I'm a Hunter main) and more vault items.
How did they still have access?
The person also changed my D2 profile to mirror another player (their own?) with a long D2 history, removed me from my clan, and moved me into a private 9-person PVP clan. Oddly, the clan founder was the person my profile was changed to mirror.
At the end of the weekend, the person gutted my vault of the remaining 600 items, deleted my Hunter, and left me a million miles from where I was minutes before.
It turns out that when the person accessed my account the first time, they enabled CrossSave and linked up Xbox and Epic accounts. This is why they felt no fear of being blocked out of Steam. The worst part is that I can't disable CrossSave without logging in to the accounts that are not mine. That decision should be revisited by Bungie.
Upon sharing my experience with the Help Forums, I was immediately banned (just was unbanned) for Name Shaming?!? I never shared the persons user name, but I did state what my name had been changed to, which seemed harmless enough at the time.
There is not a single piece of content I don't own. Each expansion has been purchased several times, as I often gift them to my friends. I'm no drip-aholic, but I've spent my fair share of silver. My 11,600 Steam D2 hours seem largely taken away. On top of the loss of my D2 financial and time investment, I feel like I have been harassed as well. I recognize most people IRL will not understand what has been stolen, but I'd imagine plenty of the players and moderators here could imagine what it's like to care about a character, weapons, and armor as much as I do, then have it removed from existence by a trolling hacking cheating pos for no reason or benefit to the person. Maybe they deleted everything to remove the evidence of my claim.
If they wanted to, I am sure Bungie could see exactly what happened and probably who was responsible.
Is there anything that can be done? Id really like to have the Xbox and Epic accounts off my account. It qould also be amazing to have the deleted items back.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to be able to safely rejoin my community?
