I wanna start this by saying at first I enjoyed Encore not my favorite exotic mission but not the worst...but now IT SUCKS! I am sick and tired of having to do it again and again....and yeah I know often times we're supposed to and heck I did others like that. To explain this better I'll say in the past we've had to run the exotic mission maybe once for the story progression and then one time on expert for the catalyst and finally a simple run through on normal to unlock the catalyst perks by unlocking all the secrets, so three at most if you were patient and waited till the third week when everything was implemented. Encore however has already had 2 story linked progressions with most likely a third coming next week for the finale, plus with this week if you try to do the new specimen well guess what back into the exotic mission to kill enemies with arc and void translating to doing about half the mission using only arc or void. At the end we're looking at 3 clears of base without doing anything extra with runs taking quite a while if your solo (my last run was 90 mins with three deaths....Never said I was a good player). Now I will admit the sample is optional but if you want all the seasonal perks from Failsafe or the triumph for completing them all, then they aren't really optional for you. So IMO the exotic mission should be fun with it being challenging, more so on expert, and it should be the player's choice of weather or not they want to keep doing it for the upgrades to the exotic. Not something linked so thoroughly to story progression and upgrades that we need to run through it at least 3 and a half times in 3 weeks (less weeks if you fall behind the story). Exotic missions are special so let it feel like they're special rather then a grind to get through the story

I'd rather be forced into that than into a boring seasonal activity with worse rewards.

Edited by Touch: 9/6/2024 3:27:59 PMThey have you play stuff until you hate it. That's their formula. I don't personally have a problem with it because I always end up helping friends throughout the week, but I do think it's lame to lock seasonal story progression behind it. The saving grace is that it's the easiest one they've made so far, so a majority of players should be able to get it done. The 2 progression bugs within it are a buzz kill for solos. (I haven't encountered them personally) They should have been fixed immediately, not weeks down the road.

It is a little much, I'll agree, but there are far worse things we've had to run repeatedly; remember the Altars of Summoning? Yeesh.
