One of my favorite weapon types in PvP has been aggressive pulse rifles. They can be hard to master but were monsters if you mastered them.
With the body shot changes however these feel very underwhelming. These used to have a ttk of 0.73 with 6 crit and 2 body. Now the ttk is the same but it requires all 8 crits unless you are under 7 resilience which barely anyone is these days.
My question is what's the point of using these weapons then? The whole point of aggressive pulses was that they had a longer ttk than high impacts but were more forgiving and flinched the heck out of your opponents. Now the forgiveness is gone and flinch is all but dead. Sure they have the best range now but only by 2-4 meters. In my opinion the body shot changes hurt aggressive pulses most of all. I say this as someone who has gotten over 3000 PvP kills with a new blast furnace since into the light. They are great when they work but lately have become way to dependent on niches such as damage perks, crouch shooting, etc.
These used to be monsters in the hands of experienced players, it would be really nice to have that back.

At least to me, the 2-shot feels more consistent with aggressives, and it builds up the Athrys’s Embrace 1-hit knife in 1 burst which high impacts can’t do

Maybe they can replace 340s when those get nerfed.

I prefer passive pulse rifles myself.

If you ask me high impacts need a nerf in terms of ttk/damage and aggressives are perfect where they are. Though I will agree the damage changes were weird for a lot of weapons.

7 RepliesI think outside of vigilance and belasarius and their unique traits then there is no point. Vigilance can be great in certain moments and Belasarius can have some crazy consistency perks - my roll is eye of the storm and headseaker which both combined almost guarantee the 2 burst. I think a fair change would be to make them 7 crit 1 body to all resilience.

1 ReplyBest changes will be to lower the zoom values on them to 17 (as right now they're absurdly high in general) and make them more forgiving by 1-2 bullets. The issue is they will never be good even with those changes as with 4 rounds per burst means you're going to die to every duel against anyone remotely gifted enough to peek shoot you. Odds are pulses are probably if anything going to get range nerfed (laziest nerf banjo could make) because the only gun complaints on the forums lately have been sub 1.3kd hand cannon crutches complaining that they can't out ttk someone while standing still out in the open when their weapon of choice fires home appliance sized bullets/ads's and strafes faster than any other in the game and are still used more than pulses in trials. All I have to say is nerf khvostov again. Gun has been the top trials weapon for the entire expansion and it's still busted. 77 stability on a 600 is a joke. It shoots like zen moment is active from the start.

I guess they were good vs unaware players?? You get hit by a 4 burst you stay away. They just seem to only reliably 2 burst really bad players. Once you hear those 4 pops you have plenty of time to get in cover. It’s a really huge audio cue. I’ve only ever killed noobs with them. Like really bad players. Bad noobs. Its fun for that. Even with killclip procced on them, you shoot for like 160+ damage a burst and people still easily get in cover after eating one burst. They’ve always been terrible, you’re on the cope brother. Maybe if they had silencers or some -blam!- idk.
