You had an amazing chance to give us such a good season story with the Vex and yet didn’t.
All we got was a full 3 months worth of love stories about Saint and Osiris and Maya and Chioma. WE GET IT THEY LOVE EACHOTHER. Can we move on from that? Every mission dialogue feels like I’m either eavesdropping on a newlywed couple, or I’m reading a damn fanfic novel written by a 40 year old person that has never been held. Just make the conversations interesting at least since the whole season has been less than meh.

3 RepliesEdited by CrimzonReaper: 9/4/2024 6:28:07 PMTrust me I get what you’re saying, but if you pay attention to what’s actually happening Maya is basically bringing her wife back to life and then killing her over and over again because she’s not Maya’s perfect version of her. Not exactly a touching love story at this point lol Saint and Osiris, yes they’re getting on my nerves, it’s time they get on a ship and go far far away.

Everything since the Witness being revealed as Megamind v1.5 pixar-lookin villain has been garbage save Savathun, who would've made a much better BEG.
-
4 RepliesI'd prefer if Osiris got lost in the vex system again. I swear the voice actor must be making a fortune. I'm over love stories now, seems like since the witness is gone that all they have left. I think we have killed nearly all the vex minds. Also hate how you can't skip the holo projector chats. You have to sit there for 5 mins listening to dribble.

1 ReplyThe Saint and Osiris love story feels forced in my opinion
-
That killed the whole story line for me. I stopped caring about this seasons story.
-
Zombies being able to love is weird in itself. Then add robot zombie loves normal zombie and somehow they’re both gay even though they might not have been before they were revived by their ghosts.
-
Yep, these stories we paid for are not very good at all. It’s dull and boring to sit through. At least give me the option to skip these parts where you need to hear them talk for 10 mins. don’t care about how characters are feeling about each other. We need better writers in Bungie studios.

2 RepliesNah next they’ll all hold hands and sing Kumbaya

1 ReplyFr. The saint osiris love story was out of place and shoehorned into the game multiple seasons ago, the fact thats its still a centerpiece in narrative is just tragic

1 ReplyI think there was supposed to be a "Maya as the dark reflection of Osiris" thing going on, with them reacting to similar issues with their "partners" in drastically different ways. That idea probably would have had some legs to stand on if they didn't, yet again, use Osiris as the crux of the entire story when he's by far the worst character in the franchise. Saint is mostly fine, and even Maya is salvageable, but Osiris just grinds the entire story to a halt by being in every single thing for no reason. He hasn't even been cool or helpful since year 1, but the writers keep insisting on beating him down at every opportunity to make sure he's the most useless, whiny, jobber character possible. Trying to figure out if our Saint was the "real Saint" or Maya timeline hoping to find the outcome of the Golden Age she wanted and us having to follow her through time would've been great story stakes, but instead they shafted all of those ideas to make a D tier fanfiction soap opera about "I love muh boyfriend even if he's not the real one" and "I can't love muh girlfriend if she's not the real one".

The storytelling is uninteresting, predictable, and unrelenting. I’ve started to skip the dialogue. I’m a campaign player (I log in for the storytelling) and I’ve never felt more uninspired to play. I do the must do stuff for the week and log off. Such a distraction from the amazing campaign story they just gave us. I mean the finale was an example to the gaming world about how you tell a story and pull a community together. Absolutely beautifully done. They set the bar high. This season should’ve easily been an amazing Vex follow-up. I just don’t get it. It’s such an amazing universe and there’s so much to work with.

6 RepliesPersonal opinion/gripe, but it doesn’t help that the season revolves around two characters portrayed by “recognizable voices” instead of actual “voice actors”. How many times have you heard Oded Fehr dispassionately snooze his way through weekly dialogue that sounded beat for beat like: [Kzzzzzt] “Guardian….something something …Chioma Esi….bla bla something ….Maya Sundaresh. ….Perhaps bla bla… [Kzzzzzt] Thanks Oded. Cheque’s in the mail buddy. See you next week. Or Shoreh Aghdashloo croaking her croaky croak so croakily, you’d swear it was radio static instead of actual words. Yet simultaneously giving the exact same performance as she does everywhere else. Might as well have named the character Shala’Raan vas Tonbay, or Roshan. Can’t believe I’m saying this, but Failsafe is hard carrying this season 😂

At and Osiris are boring af. Robot lady and her wife have an interesting concept thing going on though.
-
No, next season will focus on Mithrax and Spiders romantic relationship as well as Crow and Fikruls romantic relationship.

Edited by ErisXDrifter: 9/6/2024 1:51:12 AMone hundred percent agree. Like, Eris and Drifter's relationship has been good, cause it's been slow growing, and every season and expansion you see a little more growth between them, and they just overall work for one another. Eris seeks joy, the Drifter seeks trust, and they find both in one another. Their dynamic is unique and interesting, and both characters are great together and separate. But the other two relationships you mentioned? No, doesn't work, doesn't make sense, feels rushed and forced. Bungie should have stuck to a few slow growing relationships, instead of going around forcing multiple that just don't work :I
-
Where the hell is Ikora and Eris, Surely they have lovers too. Maybe mix it up with the drifter and Eris getting caught banking dark motes in the drifter den. Maybe Ikora gets caught having some fun with Shax in Zavalas old office in the tower. Spice it up Bungie, then we can worry about story later.

2 RepliesWitch queen is better storyteller than final shape. It make keep going to fight tougher boss on story mission. Final shape, meh
-
At least there's some 'meat' to the Maya/Chioma storyline (Maya's transformation into MSUND and what that relationship turns into gets pretty disturbing toward the end) The Saint/Osiris stuff is just tedious and nonsensical (why a robot powered by sentient milk who's been reset 13 times goes all 'emo' wondering if he's 'the real him', is just beyond me).

1 ReplyNone of the D2 story has interested me. In D1 I was the main character. I spoke to other major actors and they spoke to me. I wanted to know what was what. Now I'm just hanging out in the background making coffee for the Important People. Bored now.

6 RepliesEdited by xbroggiex: 9/4/2024 2:53:16 PMI hate not only the retcon of Saint and Osiris because of some writers headcannon before he joined Bungie but also the retcons in this episode that make Dawn pointless and ruin the whole "Perfect Paradox". Maya Sundaresh would have a more compelling motivation if she was attempting to rewrite history and return the universe to the Golden Age, as it could create an interesting element of if the outcome she could produce would be better than what we currently have. But no instead its about how she is trying to find her dead wife or something and simulating a bunch of her and killing them if they aren't "the real Chioma" so dumb and boring. The whole Choral Vex were a fantastic idea to give the Vex some identity but instead of leaning into musical themes or something as their identity to set them apart from the rest of the Vex they are just Precursor Vex and are a complete waste. What should be happening right now in the story is the enemy factions should be building their armies and strength to fill the power vacuum of the Witness and we should be having all out war across the system, and it should actually feel like we are at war instead of being told we are. This was a major problem with TFS at no point did it really feel like The Witness was "throwing everything it has at you".

Edited by Motorhead England: 9/5/2024 2:12:34 AMI used to enjoy the cut scenes and storylines to the point where I had my subtitles constantly on, and would mute my mates when playing with my clan. When I can bothered to log on now, subtitles are off and I just hammer the skip button when any of this dross interupts my gameplay. If I can't skip it, I'll mute the volume and put the kettle on for a cuppa, or go grab a beer. I've got nothing against what this story is trying to convey, but we are constantly told in real life that we have to be tolerant, and are subliminally bombarded on TV and social media, to the point where even young children are having to be counselled. Most of us play video games to get away from real life for a few hours, so please can we have a storyline that's actually relevant to a shooter looter?
-
Maybe the story is the friendship we made along the way

1 ReplyWhat if they break up next week!? Tune in to Destiny next Tuesday.....unless it's still timegated
-
Destiny has never had good story telling btw. Season of the bromance is no different
-
I’ve had the dialogue off since season of the hunt. Game feels so good

You haven’t been paying attention have you? Saint and Osiris are dealing with their own issues and stuff but MAN the stuff that maya is doing is horrible, she’s seeking perfection but she’s incredibly flawed and can’t see the evil she’s committing.
