What is up with the timer for the exotic missions? I have quit both zero hours and the whisper so many times because id be at the final DPS stage solo and not have enough time to finish. That's ridiculous.. I should be able to play an EXOTIC MISSION SOLO I shouldn't have to find one or two others for a mission.
-
1 ReplyNothing should be timed. It's artificial difficulty pure and simple. Salvations Edge Normal should also have it removed.
-
All exotic missions with timers have pretty generous timers… so uh get good

As in life there are minimum standards to meet to acquire whatever one wants. IMO growing up with participation trophies equals to self entitlement later. Why should society keep lowering the standards for those with low self esteem? There are countless examples on this forum. I’m sure there are threads about how a random trials team mate quit, and it cost that one player a trip to the lighthouse. How about, choose reliable team mates prior to jumping into a team essential competitive portion of the game. Or like the his thread, just because some streamers are able to do it, it doesn’t mean you’re able to. If not, try again. At the end of the day, it’s just a video game. No one really cares about your destiny triumphs.

2 RepliesHates timers but drives slow on the freeway...

1 ReplyShouldnt be timed and always available. The timer is just completely ruining the immersion. inb4; get gud i do it with 35 minutes left on the timer.
-
Hate timers agree

25 RepliesEnjoying all the sweaty no-lifers replying "Skill issue just practice for a thousand hours by running the same mission 200 times and learn all the shortcuts to git gud enough not everything in this game is for everyone" like the vast majority of the population has that kind of time or desire. If that's the only population Bungie wants playing this game, they're going to have Concord-like playercounts.
-
I agree with this. It’s a lazy way to make things a challenge. Whisper wasn’t so bad as you didn’t really have to communicate with another player. A lot of players just want to relax and unwind and honestly this game used to be a good game to relax and unwind. The timers honestly prevent that now.
-
I’m sorry, I dont agree and part of the experience is the timer. But it would definitely make more money for bungo to lets the noobs take hours on a 20 minute mission because they don’t know what radiant is, they never use supers, or how to use tractor cannon. If you want to be good, do what the good players are doing. Investigate other guardians when you see them mowing down ads, watch a YouTube video. The game can’t cater to new lights and noobs because people refuse to learn.

Timers only hurt lower skill people, if you are anywhere near descent , they are not even a factor. I think they need to go in most cases IMO. Game should prefer this as a better buisiness model. If their needs to be something like this, keep that stuff in master raids.
-
Memo IMHO…timers are for ‘hares’ not ‘tortoises’ 👈 from An old 0.3% tortoise 😉 Ease Springs! 🫡
-
Whisper time is very generous. Zero hour you use to cheese the timer.
-
As a halfway measure, I suggest removing the timer on Normal, but only awarding the normal, uncraftable version. Base content should be widely accessable; from a purely business standpoint (since we know that the corporate suits are the ones forcing many of the bad choices anyway) there is no point spending many resources for stuff almost no one will play. But I get that rewards need to be earnt to at least some degree.
-
When a mission requires a partner "we are not asking for the mission to be made easy, we just want a solo path" When a mission is soloable "make the mission easy because I can't beat them solo" There is no wining against people who can't accept accountability for their own choices.
-
2 RepliesThe point of timers are to test players efficiency at killing enemies and progressing the mission. If you're running out of time, you're not killing enemies fast enough.
-
Just keep practicing and use weapons that match shields it took me 3 tries on zero hour and 1 time on whisper Don't rush use them as practice runs till you get it down but yea I also hate timers it makes it hard to actually enjoy it
-
3 RepliesIf they want timers for content creators then give a boost to drops for the timed version and let solos have a choice of lower drops but no timer.
-
Timers are something that shouldn’t be for every activity. Raids, Enigma Protocol, maybe Nightfalls (with how the timer works in that activity specifically), fine. But exotic missions, those are not fine outside of legend like how Bungie did Presage.
-
Imo timers are the only thing that makes them interesting or challenging. But I don’t hate the idea of normal mode (or even just a rewardless explore mode) existing without a timer for players to at least practice and explore. Whisper’s timer is ridiculously generous though tbf and Dual Destiny’s is pretty lenient as well. I think Zero Hour is really the only one where the timer feels legitimately challenging beyond the initial exploratory phase where you don’t know anything (and it is also probably the most punishing during this stage too). I feel like there is nothing wrong with failing something from time to time, especially something you have little to no knowledge of prior AND are choosing to do solo (which is a restriction you are putting on yourself). Why are people nowadays so scared of the concept of failing and overcoming it? It’s not a healthy mindset to have.

5 RepliesMight get hate and/or backlash for speaking this but timers should be removed from any normal content while there on the harder versions. Same with enemy power scaling. Normal versions should still be a challenge but never on par with "expert" mode. Usually can hold my own in harder content but Zero Hour...WHO'S IDEA TO PUT BRIGS IN THERE?!
-
2 RepliesIf you can't solo Whisper or Zero Hour on Normal, you have a skill issue.
-
2 RepliesIf this is the entry requirement for how easy somethin has to be to attach a reward to it, then idk man. One of these missions literally came out with half the time requirement back when shotguns were heavy and we had a quarter of the ability optimization. And they were still being soloed back then. You shouldn’t get the weenie hut jr. Version of a mission just because you make the decision to play solo.
-
1 ReplyYou can compete both solo quite easily. It’s not bad game design. It’s a barrier / checkpoint to test your build, loadout and aptitude for combat / traversal. If you’re struggling then go back to these things, improve things and you’ll get it done.
-
15 RepliesThe "I want to play solo" BS is gettting ridiculous here. This is a social game that some parts you can play solo and there may even be some triumphs for completing some of the missions, Gms, Dungeons and Exotic missions solo, however, playing solo is not the optimal way to play this gam. If you want to play football.. you will need a team, same for Baseball or Hockey or Soccer, sure, you can kick the ball to yourself, toss a ball in the air etc but, you arn't playing the game. If you truly want to be a solo player, find a game that is meant to be a solo experience and not an MMO.
-
1 ReplyThree things most players hate. Timed missions, escort when the escort is killable and puzzles.
-
Agreed. I would also like to do every raid solo. It isn’t fair that Bungie made this task near impossible for a 1 day a week, neuro-divergent, gay single dad like myself.
