Make Comp Rank based. SBMM is getting old
I am in Adept 2 playing people is Ascendent.....why you may ask? Because this game mode uses SBMM. If rank is going to be based for the rewarded then make it Rank based and not skill based. It takes me all season to ever reach Ascendent because I have to play people in that skill bracket from the start. I AM A 1.5 KD and all of these people are 2.5+s. HOW IS THIS BALANCED.

1 ReplyI just made it to adept 1. Comp is awful this season. Collision is a worse gamemode than rift. I just want the emblem so I don't have to play it anymore.

I think it is rank based but pushed to be one or two major ranks above you or below you. If you however hit a high rank they will just match you with above. It also depends on the time of matchmaking. If it takes too long then you get something like this!

The current match making system has it so you should only match players up to 1 rank above or below, once that criteria is applied then is will take skill into account. However that is only if their is a large enough population in place. If your queue times are 10+mins with a 50/50 chance of the queue ending in a animal/vegetable/legume themed error code, you may very well start matching players two ranks above your own. That being said the experience you are describing is intended and normal. Being Adept rank means you can match Platinum, Adept, Ascendant rank players. The rank division number(ie: plat 2) means nothing & does not influence the match making system.

The best way to do it is as a duo. I got most of the way through adept by inviting the best player on the team I played against while I did the best on my team and we just flew through adept. Trios is just going to be annoyingly tedious and cordinated. Solo you're just going to get sbmm ankelweighted the second you start performing well. Duo is the only way and most of the time you're going to be sbmm'd in terms of a third player so you gotta be able to 2v3 well. And it isn't ascendant rank max for nothing. Apex legends and other shooters also pair you against max rank players while you're right below that ranking. And in your placement matches you will very likely have to beat ascendant players 2/3 games to get in. It was actually very hard to get at the start of the episode now I think it's way too free and anyone can get it as everyone who already has is really just trying to maintain their rank while farming rose rolls anyways.

I’m hard stuck at adept 2. Before into the light, I barely touched comp aside from a weekly weapon focus here and there. I just chalked it up to such a low player pool at this point because every match I play is a gutter match. Not to mention, the ability spam is much worse after the march 5th update. I stopped playing 6v6 altogether because of the new ability spam since prismatic.

1 ReplyYou’re supposed to be able to match with just over one major rank above and below. Also, all Ascendant players are classed as Ascendant III to help matchmaking (because they have less players to match against). Adept II and Ascendant III are comfortably within the range to be matched up.
