[spoiler]Hi everyone. To clarify what is being shared here, it's not possible for us to simply click a button to undo name changes; that is a tool that has never existed. This is why we will be offering a name change token once we solve the underlying issues.
The vast majority of the names that were changed were in error and will be able to be used again. Only the most egregious names probably won't be able to used (i.e. a name that would go against our Community Code of Conduct).
We understand this has been frustrating, and we're working to get things out the door as quickly as possible.[/spoiler]

We have identified the issue that was forcing a high number of Bungie name changes. We have applied a server-side change to prevent the issue from impacting accounts moving forward.
Furthermore, we are continuing to investigate options to address player accounts that were impacted. This will take some time, as our path forward will be dependent on fixing the underlying issue.

1. It is not possible to revert this name change.
2. We are planning to distribute name change tokens to all players at a later date to address this issue.

How am I supposed to participate in the streamer events you want to organize when I'm currently nameless, and so are many of viewers too. Maybe delegate a few people to read the forum and manually restore players their names since you have no way of fixing this globally. These are not big numbers, but you have to take responsibility for mistakes and fix them.

Some of my friends have lost their usernames to this issue and they are still unable to reclaim them. It's been nearly two months since they were erroneously condemned to play without a recognizable name. They haven't been able to use the tokens that were issued to reclaim their old names, either. Their preferred names are not offensive by any standard. If it's a difficult problem to fix, I understand and respect the effort involved. Acknowledgement that the issue has persisted would be a sufficient step toward ameliorating the harm.

No new updates? Bungie if you're done with this ""Issue"" and checking it off as ""Fixed"" then say this, say that the community in this post have to move on or accept that their original name was against code of conduct and they should choose a new identity. Tell them that they got away with using 7+ years of name misconduct and that they are all wrong. Tell them that the issue with token can be resolved with a better gaming chair. (no bungie mentors, I don't need assistance in name token, they simply dont work/save the name). We remember people, their names not their positions. We dont remember just MR.President, we don't remember the janitor as the janitor, we dont just know guardians as guardian####. They are family and friends and their identity is important. Don't say "The vast majority of the names that were changed were in error and will be able to be used again." when my BFFs name still cant be changed back to her original OR to a similar one cus the token doesnt work. Ever did a raid or activity with everyone named gaurdian####? Give them their names back as you said they could have back!

This still isn't fixed and it's causing sooo much frustration from devoted players who've spent so much money on this game. Make this fix a priority and help my friends get their decade-old names back!

Bungie please properly fix this issue. A name change token isn’t going to give back the name many have had for years! It has been too long for this “issue” to still be a thing.

It's almost as if a database script could be run that manually changes the names back to the original names... But surely that's just too complicated for Bungie.... In all seriousness, it is absolutely baffling that there was a "fix", but then a name change token was just handed out (that didn't really work either), and yet despite the numerous LOYAL MONEY-SPENDING fans Destiny has accrued claiming the issue STILL isn't fixed, they're getting dismissed because the problem was "solved" (even though there are clearly very many people who are saying it wasn't!!) [b]Do better. Wouldn't want the already suffering player base to tank more[/b]

I have had this name for my entire Destiny career and probably would have continue to use it without issue but Bungie made a mistake and won't let me keep my identity. How is that fair? I have four accounts linked to my Bungie account and all of them suggest the name (LilBone64) but won't let me use it. If I can't use it then don't suggest it. It doesn't even tell me whether or not the name can be used.

2 RepliesStill not working. I've tried changing my name and I get "You can only change your Bungie Name one time.". I haven't had the chance to change my name back to PicklePixs. I've posted 5 times in this forum, politely requesting that this issue gets fixed or provide a name change token but 6 weeks on, and I'm still lumbered with Guardian5780. Please, please, please, please provide me with a name token so I can revert my name back to my GamerTag that I've been using on Destiny for the past 9 years. 1 ReplyI’ve tried again on my laptop rather than my phone to change my name back and it still isn’t working for me either. I’ve tried changing my name back to my gamer tag, PicklePixs, but once I click ‘Save Settings’, I get the same message “You can only change your Bungie Name one time.” I’ve posted three times in this chat, politely requesting your help to change my name back to PicklePixs or grant a ‘change name’ token so I can change it myself. I’ve read the Bungie name policy and I don’t see anything offensive in my name that is also the same name as my Xbox and Twitch account. As a Destiny 2 player for more than 9 years and the amount of money I spend with Bungie, I would very much like to see Bungie support loyal players to properly fix this issue for everyone rather than incorrectly posting an update telling everyone the issue is fixed. Cmon, Bungie. It's been ages. It's not actually fixed. Just please fix it. Or even disable the filter, so we can get our names back. Just deal with actually offensive names manually. Because clearly this filter is a problem if it's taking THIS LONG to fix. To truely fix, so please. just find SOME SOLUTION TO THIS
