Almost 5 hours since reset and we haven't heard a word from Bungie about the name change issue. Just address the issue already and say something... anything. Not communicating on the issue will just make things worse. People are already taking matters in their own hands, starting to use their only name change token to change their names. Others are waiting it out hoping the (in many cases unwarranted) changes will be reverted. Some of my friends are scared to log into the game after reset, for fear of having their usernames changed. It's a mess. And for the people defending this debacle: Take a hint! The forums, reddit and twitter are blowing up with people complaining. Something went horribly wrong and tons of people got wrongfully hit by this. We understand that Bungie has the right to ban names at their sole discretion even if those names did not violate any COC, TOS etc. But this is obviously NOT what happened here. No Bungie employees looked at thousands of names and made a conscious decision to ban said names at their own discretion.
