I like the bounty forge mechanics... it plays to my sensibilities.
1. You don't have to wear the armor anymore.
Immediately made Bonfire more fun for me. Because I can use whatever I want... I'm not spending crafting resources infusing and upgrading the gear as I go.
And if you don't like Bonfire Bash... you can still get drops by only technically playing it once.
2. Once you unlock 1 or the 1st set of ingots... your forge gets an upgrade that guarantees drops from the bounties themselves.
As you advance the armor... those drops and benefits improve. All my bounty armor drops have been 62+... I got a 68 already.
That's only the first set of ingots done. Multi-perked weapons too... I'm already getting multi-perked weapons.
3. The grind is easy... I would like a change in the future that reduces the refresh cost (with an upgrade earned... like the Dawning oven, to like 3). Because technically it's better to grab a 1 leaf gray bounty that can be completed in like 45 secs... not including travel time, then to refresh manually.
I think that's what you want people to figure out, but I'm not doing that... and I don't think anyone else will either. I'd rather burn every leaf I have to get the bounty sets I want... go grind more leaves, than breaking my cadence.
And I know it's nonsensical, I'm not being optimally efficient when I do that. I just don't want to change all my weapons/kit every time I complete a loop of bounties.
Optimally, I should build out my inventory to cover the field of objective possibilities, run a class agnostic regen exotic... design my play sessions around Solstice.
The event isn't good enough, activity wise, for me to want to live that life for 3 weeks straight.
If Bonfire played like the CoiL... then maybe. What I'm saying is Bonfire NEEDS something. I know you tried in the past... but I don't think exploration or hidden enemy spawns in obscure locations was it...
But NOW, it seems overly simple... nothing is a threat, you don't really move around the map that much anymore. Remember when we had to go inside the buildings... the perimeter floating islands?
Traversal is easier than it's ever been, our rides spawn... time to bring some of that back.
Here's my idea... after you stoke the fire and kill the 'first' boss... it continues.
After that 1st cycle... NOW... every time you stoke the Bonfire it makes the spawns harder on a timer... if you fail to make it the 2nd boss, extra rewards still drop based on the number of spawns.
After the 2nd Boss... same thing EXCEPT the ENTIRE map is on fire and that escalates as you stoke the Bonfire, creating more hazards and restricting traversal... the catapults & light bumpers turn off during the 3rd loop too.
There would be no real penalty for dying, except losing time... not stoking the Bonfire in time to spawn the 2nd or 3rd boss.
Then that's it. 2 Bonfire nodes... 1 for single loop. 1 for the triple loop. 2nd and 3rd loop escalating rewards in both quantity and quality... like the CoiL, that's why that mode was so awesome. You could matchmake w randoms, no mic... and it was worth risking a wipe because the loot was so good... you would commit 45mins to an hr... because it was worth it.
Bonfire HAS that potential.
TLDR: The new systems and mechanics are great. Bonfire Bash requires growth and improvements.

I do at least appreciate that this year pretty much everything can be done in EAZ and doesn’t require you to spend more time in playlist activities.

Bonfire is kinda lame IMO, especially after 3 times with no iteration on the mode itself really. But beyond that and the drop rate heavily favoring a bad weapon type, it's fine.

It’s the same activity so thats why there is negativity attached to it but you pointed it out in your post that Bonfire needs to be upgraded. Although if they changed it, there would be several posts demanding to put it back the way it was. Free events bring out the biggest whiners. Great feedback and well written.

1 ReplyI found it boring as hell, jus sayin. The adds are usually dead before they hit the ground. There's only 5 spawn locations, that means at least 50% of the maps isn't used anymore, sad, and to top it off there's [b]ZERO[/b] incentive to actually throw your balls into the fire because you get 7 leaves no matter how many you chuck in. Very average, [b]AT BEST[/b] I much prefer the older version where we actually had bosses to kill and used the [b]WHOLE[/b] map. But, ya know, "free event" so whatever.

The bounties shouldn't be random. The GM bounties takes 10 minutes to complete and is just 10x more efficient than anything else. Why bother with the other bounties I'd you can just reset until you get GM bounties.

Well, you do got some decent points for the activity. After so many years the zone/activity should be either reworked or replaced. Still the bonties are annoying af, not the worst grind we ever had, but pretty bad. The armor stats suck, the armor is ugly as heck. No color glow looks ok. There is no pre glow ornament somehow.

3 RepliesSo Timed Bonfire Onslaught? Though, there's a name for it. Bonfire Onslaught. Achievement for defeating the final wave of it will be called "Seen from Orbit" as a reference to Saladin only being happy with the bonfire once he's able to see it from Orbit. I do like the idea, actually. Could be fun.

Agree with it all.. and thx for reminding about inside buildings and islands. Escalating rewards would be key to the 2nd and 3rd loop idea.. Bungie has to understand it HAS TO BE REWARDING FOR THE PLAYER. I actually would add that the game needs even more now in that: -- pathfinder should advance here -- let us earn engrams for ritual vendor of our choice also -- earn strange coins -- even surprise loot like ascendant shards/alloys.. for some challenge round Just start raining down loot.. use the full games potential...and yes the full movement of the AERIAL ZONE! I would add that I am still unsure about weapons but I can see some that do "look" good.. no idea about armor yet.. finding out about added perks really really helps to put some effort towards those bounties.
