I just want my last post on these forums to be somewhat positive. This post is mainly for any Bungie devs out there who may see this by some random stroke of luck. A final appreciation post.
If any remaining D1-era employees are reading these forums, I just wanna say thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the amazing memories I made during Destiny1. Those first 3 years where nobody, not even Bungie, seemed to know where the game was heading were the pinnacle of online gaming for me. I've been chasing that feeling since D2 released and the only game that's come close is Breath of The Wild. Being a part of a Bungie ride along with Cozmo is one of my favorite Destiny memories alongside all the laughs and adventures with all the Guardians I met during that period. As bad as I hate to admit it, I don't think any game I'll ever play going forward will ever match the sheer joy D1 gave me for my hobby.
Having stuck it out all the way to TFS, I can honestly say that it even with all the gameplay system and QoL improvements, D2 just didn't scratch the itch like D1 did. Somehow, D2 still manages to feel like an imposter, a disjointed alternate universe if you will. Like I said, I want my final post to be somewhat positive. I know hundreds of people worked hard on D2 but I just guess in the end, whatever the vision became, just wasn't for me. But thank you all for trying, I know you all put your hearts into it.
I hate that it's gone this way for all those involved. But it's taught me one thing: games as a live service is a death sentence for developers. To the current devs, I wish you all the very best and may your passions lead you to heights of success not yet known.
Thank you all so very much <3
