8.0.5: text chat bug
There’s a weird text chat bug appearing in 8.0.5, where usernames from your Friends list will suddenly appear in white in the text chat box. It happens while in orbit, a social space, or during an activity. Disable text chat is the only workaround for this annoying bug.
Update: seems I missed this from the patch notes. Although it does still seem to be bugged right now, as there is no disable toggle:

1 ReplyMy only option on PS5 was to turn off chat. Imagine the meeting at Bungie. Hey, lets make a new feature that spams chat when their friends come online, bet they'll love it. Not their brightest moment.

Added a notification to text chat when friends come online. Added a setting to toggle on/off the notification for friends coming online. Altough AFTER THE UPDATE on ps5 there is a issue were players can NOT being able to see the setting to turn it on or off. Wich means pa5 is getting the text chat spam everytime a friend hops on. Pretty anoying when doing solstice grind

having the same problem but my friends online playing destiny don't show up on my friends list. my friends already online and playing destiny show up. after people signed and it displayed them in text chat they have disappeared out of my friends list...
