We Finally Have Answers...No More Destiny

Where do I start, we've all been on this journey for a long time. I dont know if I should be angry, sad, or un-surprised to hear Bungie has been sacrificing D2 to fund other projects.Literally YEARS of drama...every expac "its do or die" for the community. Little did we know the pushing of paid event cards, dungeon keys, PAID shaders?!... was all to fund projects that sound so bad its laughable...3rd person hero based destiny puzzle game? mobile games? Years of cooking on a competitive shooter in a market so saturated concord couldnt even get enough players to become a meme. Bungie...you had one of the only "successful" live-service games in gaming history. Maybe just maybe, the expansions sales numbers wouldnt have dropped off if you doubled down like you should have. Instead you've milked a loyal playerbase to fund dumb unwanted projects...When did you decide to betray the fanbase and work on trash incubation projects for years draining all profits away for nothing? Was it the moon reskin and fetch quests that was shadowkeep? we all came back because forsaken felt like a full dev team that cared, then you betrayed us with that garbage DLC. All those MTX, expansions, dungeon keys, and not a dime went to future proofing the franchise that carried you...D3 was the answer, not gummibears, marathon, or a fking 3rd person puzzle game. Free from Activision and any accountability it seems. Farewell Destiny

  • Bungie lied to us on several occasions to prop up sales for DLCs this wasn’t our game or the community’s game this was The executives game and the devs were just puppets and we were just it’s bank account We got dragged along and fed the scraps for so -blam!- long, we believed in this company, we had our doubts about what was being produced and promised and now everything has come to light I’m sorry to say it but good riddance to bungie and what you have done to your community and devs is unacceptable

    • Honestly, for Destiny to survive now, once these three episodes are done, it needs to go a similar way to Warframe. True free to play. Everything, including dungeon keys, and even previous expansions, earnable by a long grind or you can fast track by paying for it, similar to Warframe. Season passes? Everything on them can be earned, just earned faster if you choose to buy into premium. Allow us to grind for deepsight harmonizers to craft weapons. Make Xur sell previous season stuff occasionally. Give us back our campaigns that we lost. At bare minimum, give us the key narrative beats from the lost campaigns in the Timeline. Every other online game, I can experience the story and play it from the beginning, most with few narrative beats missed (Warframe does miss a few, but retains enough for a new player to get the gist). The cost of this game just to experience... Well, not even most of it, at this point, is what has driven many of my friends away, and the reason I can't get my friends who are interested in Destiny as a concept to remain once they start experiencing it. It is NOT new player friendly.

        • The game is dead. And now this company is toast! CAPUT!!! There won’t be any D3 because these guys have no talent at all to make one anymore. They can’t make a better game now let alone make a new one with D3. Like I said, toast! Burning Toast!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Absolutely nothing here but a shamble mess of shallowness!

I stand by my opinion that this will be taught in business classes in the future as one of the biggest failures of executives in running a company. All of the failures so obviously driven by the ego maniacal machinations of an executive class that has no responsibility because they don’t experience consequences. If they put the money back into the game we would be talking about tv series and movies right now that feature the characters. Multi Billion dollar f-up. The right move was to spin off the crucible into a stand alone game and expand the universe of the pve game by bringing back planets and making new ones. They could have sold planets individually. With an upgraded engine they could have sold real estate on planets to companies for r&d and prototyping. Just selling games to gamers is short sighted. They could have sold business versions for team building, meetings, and all kinds of things. Ego driven idiots pushing their own agenda will never see those types of possibilities.

          • Lol. This game lasted longer than most games would dream to last and probably far longer than it actually should’ve. Just enjoy the end and appreciate the good times. Y’all got way too invested into something that wasn’t guaranteed to stand the test of time and can’t blame anyone but yourself if it’s depressing you. Ten years is a good run and you’ve likely made some great memories and cherished friendships along the way. On to the next, guardians.

                  • You know what's honestly REALLY sad? Fallout 76 is more enjoyable than D2. Think about that. 76 released in an absolutely dismal state a year after D2 did. But because Bethesda, queen of glitchy, broken games, actually put their time and effort into fixing 76, listening to their players wants, offering a PTS to help with fixing things, the game is still alive and kicking and, dare I say, good. Running on a relic game engine no less. And yes, before anyone says "Well yeah but they have the boost from the Fallout shows success," news flash. The show happened long after Bethesda decided to listen to their players and fix their trash pile. Now, with the success of the show, it only behooves them to put even more time and effort in 76 and make it even better since Fallout 5 isn't happening anytime soon. The point I'm trying to make here is the difference between one greedy, shady corporation and another. While Bethesda has done its due diligence working with the player base, Bungie has fought us all from the start. Their "listening" to us included giving us rinse repeat content, game modes no one asked for, nerfing the fun out of pretty much every fun build or gun ever, nearly unanimously hated characters and poorly written story content (don't even act like you don't know what I'm talking about.) And above it all, mismanagement from the top all along the way. Hope Greedy Petey really loves those cars and knows that his horrific management is driving his gravy train into the grave. What goes around, comes around, and I have a feeling Greedy Petey is going to get it good in time.

                      • I would love to see their financials, how much $$ went to payroll..each side project..and D2. I’m still dumbfounded about the $3.6billion deal from Sony just 2 years ago in which $1.2billion was supposed to be for employee retention. I can understand that D2 is an expensive game to maintain but with it being your only revenue generator how are you allocating those funds across the company? How much was wasted on those absurd side projects? This is the corporate bs that ticks me off. Piss poor leadership decisions which negatively affect all the employees below. I’m curious Bungie, what happens to all the retention $$ the employees you laid off couldn’t receive due to not being vested long enough? I’d bet their severance package wasn’t near the amount they would’ve received from that vested $$!

What l don't get is why be such a scrooge and nerf so hard . Why jack up the ads and nerf the fun right out of the game so much. l only played this game for 18 months so l have seen major changes during this time. what l seen was bungie self destructing in a way that had to be intentional . did everyone just get completely sick of working on destiny it does make the most sense to me now. but l still have fun playing it. so l do. l used to be a hard core mechwarrior fan and the 6v6 league play was a absolute blast, that was incredibly fun. we had gammers baffled me included that Microsoft gave up on it. the reality is they have to turn profit games are ridiculously expensive to make . and most company's have to really have the cash flow and player base to risk investing in a old game. that could potentially sink there business. bungie is no exception. but it don't make it sting any less. I'll play destiny because l have fun doing so ,or until the servers go offline . something l might add is Mechwarrior gave you a option of first person or third view so when l just heard bungie could offer this in the future it is something that could bring a new level of fun to the game ,like being able to look over things and not be seen getting the surprise attack completely off radar. just brought more intense game play. so it could be a good thing if they can pull it off.

I read several articles about the state of Bungie on the current occasion. Basically, one can say that it will be less in the future because a few wanted more. And, even if my sympathy is with the workforce, what it looks like to me is that all at Bungie, played their part in the current events. One can be curious, how they explain the future of the franchise, with so many layoffs and cancelled projects. It continues, but as more bumpy as ever...

Exactly why bank on a game built off of trends already established and already dominated by titles in the market that game most likely will be DOA or die slowly I mean come on if you can't grab big Tarkov players who also wasn't interested in it First you established a game in a already saturated genre then you turn it into a hero extraction getting rid of character customization and we all know why to highly monetize skins like OW2 this game is highly built off current trends that players moved on from let alone tired off seeing Marathon going in the market with really high chance of failure unless they make it more then just a Hero Extraction Shooter we reached the point you need to try to target the Destiny's Crucible and casual audience by creating alternative game modes to target larger audience especially if you want to move on from Destiny 2 *Extraction *BR *TDM *Control *3v3 or 4v4 Competitive *Rumble Before the end of this year I say we need some video gameplay of this game to know why you banking everything on it
we all came back because forsaken felt like a full dev team that cared, then you betrayed us with that garbage DLC.
Forsake only happened because Activision was around, it had nothing to do with this business "talent" because most of the work was being done by other studios because Activision had to carry their -blam!-. Edit: It's really messed up how gaming in general is crashing when it comes to development. Naughty Dog deliberately -blam!- up The Last of Us Part 2 343 deliberately -blam!- up Infinite "Bungie" deliberately -blam!- up Destiny 2 Bethesda deliberately -blam!- up Fallout 76. It's rare these days that you find a developer who wants to make a decent product because what we have today is that most are always looking to find ways to rip the customer off.

                            • Tried to tell people. Been gaming since the 80's. My first experience with this shady type of business practice was a game called Defiance created by Trion worlds out of California. They did the same stuff, such as not fixing bugs, not patching exploits and not nerfing over performing guns, pay walling gear or essentials hard to find in game to make certain upgrades to weapons. Soon came a bunch of legal issues for said illicit practices and to weasel out of them they filed for bankruptcy and sold their games to Gamigo. Gamigo also had a pay wall practice and also promised a bunch of stuff that v they never came through on all the while saying big things were around the corner for Defiance while also making some small game improvements to get people to buy stuff while v thinking better days were too come only for v them to say a year layer that c they were pulling the plug. They used Defiance the same way Sony/Bungie is with Destiny; using it as a bankroll.
