So Destiny isn't dying it's dead.
The final shape was really good, but now the word is that Destiny 3 has been cut. All future content drops will be lighter and smaller instead of expansions. The game is dead.

TBF the games been heading this way for a while now with all the ambiguity concerning the future, D3, Frontiers etc. Seems like they didn’t know either and wanted to keep the door open to entice people, but since the writings on the wall now with 20% of the studio being let go, I think apathy is setting in and they don’t want to overpromise on something Sony would have to reimburse or take a reputation loss over.

6 RepliesI liked the final shape. What really turned me off is as soon as the new season hit...same old same old. I play for maybe an hour a week, and that is all I can muster. A game gets old after 10 years. Seasons were introduced way later, sure. But there's only so much recycling old content you can do before it becomes a shameful act. I still to this day try to figure out where all the development time goes and for the life of me just can't understand it. Expanding the engine? Assets? New enemy factions? New boss models? New gun models? If you take the rng mechanics out, you're left with the bare minimum. Shame on us for being on the hook for so long. Sony got grifted, and I honestly can see why layoffs are happening to the extent that it is. This company is being mismanaged into obscurity. What a sad state this industry is in. I'd be ashamed if I worked at Bungie. If the philosophy were to make a mediocre product because people are already invested in your product. You go from making games you want to play, to what's the minimum we can spend to have a bigger return? Talk about having no soul. What was once considered an art form and fun, turns into a cold machine designed to extract money out of addicts. GaaS is really something else.

Still 600+ million a year....yeah destiny is hurt but fine. Maybe we get less expensive storytelling production now but I preferred how Destiny used to tell storytelling anyways through lore, and environment not sitting at the helm

There was never any chance at a Destiny 3 idk why people think this Frontiers was literally leaked to be a complete overhaul of Destiny 2 in every way. Why assume a destiny 3 is coming (with a terrible project name for it lmao “payback” we beat the witness) when these massive overhauls of a new engine and re-addition of almost all of D1 was gonna happen

You’re jumping the gun. It’s been cancelled by Bungie, but a new Sony game studio will be in charge of it. No, they’re not going to make it a PS exclusive. You can see the graphical overhaul some of the visual mods did to Cyberpunk 2077 on PC and that’s the type of graphical fidelity Sony has in mind for Destiny 3. It may not be released until it is ready for upcoming generation consoles and PC, but it will be nothing like the vanilla D2 release.
