3 items VS. 192 items(.....it's NOT a "management problem", it's poor game design)

192. There are 192 different class items. We DON'T NEED more vault space, we need better a designed game. Here's an idea; -you earn an exotic class item -you do things to unlock different, selectable, exotic perks -you have 1 item with 8 selectable perks in column A, 8 selectable in column B. 3 items to replace 192. Aside from being user friendly what does having 192 items instead of 3 do? Ditto for sword

  • bungie may make an amazing looking game, sounding game and even the gun play absolutely kills it.. but, the game part, the things we do, the management and economy.. Bungie has absolutely no clue. Material after material, weapons that require us to spend time not actually playing but, organizing and evaluating etc. The idea of op is not brilliant per se but, logical and how did it escape Bungie??? becasue they don't want us to just play the activities. they then would be on the hook for more content to play. So instead, they make guns and lots of things to earn and fill up avault so we then have to manage our assets. This takes time.. Voila.. more time in game not actually playing. Bungie knows How to make it better they CHOOSE not too.

    • If they put everything with perks on a knockout system that allowed you to have any and all perks combinations on a single item, so long as you’ve unlocked said perk. It would eliminate the need for more vault space. Like if a gun has a perk column with 6 perks, then it should take 6 drops of that weapon to unlock all of them. Every time a new iteration is dropped it drops with entirely new set of perks that haven’t been unlocked. Simple concept.

i said this exact thing on a discord post a couple of days ago, having to make some hard decisions with my vault currently. I have 58/64 on my titan and the last 30 drops have all been dupes

I have played Destiny 2 for one year and ten months, and have played a total of 3037 hours. Nine months ago, I started spending more than an hour every day cleaning the vault. My vault is full of weapons and armor, there are some weapons inside,It's not practical but it's fun, because the game keeps progressing and my vault capacity is limited and I end up deleting it. I also deleted some weapons that I haven't tested yet, My vault is full every day after playing the game, Because I want to keep to play every day, I can only delete ,This feeling is really uncomfortable. Sometimes if I want to get a piece of loot, I need to perform the same mission dozens of times, and then clean the vault. Spending more than an hour every day cleaning the vault is definitely a luxury, and the class items mission is a challenge for my vault ! I came to Destiny2 looking for excitement and adventure, sometimes long-term work requires a break, so I have played less destiny2 in the past three weeks to allow give myself system Restore : )

There are useless ones, pvp ones, ok ones and amazing ones yet you want ALL of them which is just a hoarding point issue lmao

      • Here’s my 2 cents: First run of DD drops the class item. Further completions drop 2 traits, one on each column which can then be inserted into the class item. Duplicate protection. Traits carry over between classes (once a trait drops on your Hunter, you get it on your Warlock too) It would still take like 10 runs of Dual Destiny to get all the traits. That’s a lot to ask. As a casual player, I probably wouldn’t even do that. After running Seraph’s Shield once, I didn’t even bother going back. But I think for players who want the class items, 10 runs is reasonable.

      • Yes. This. Unlock the class item then work towards the perks you need. The perks must be earned by completing a related task eh star eater scales needs you to pick up a number of orbs from vanguard gambit and crucible.

        •
We DON'T NEED more vault space, we need better a designed game.
How else are they going to extend the playtime, and why do you guys keep ignoring how this developer manipulates you they care about "improving the game"??? This doesn't apply to everyone, but a good portion of this community ignores the elephant in the room. I've watched over the years how the community has given a lot of ideas to improve the game, and this developer just looks for the worst solutions. I've never seen any developer go out of their way as this one does to always look for the worst things about gaming and call that "designing a game".
it's NOT a "management problem", it's poor game design
The problem here is this developer destroyed the entire loot system in this game. I got back into the game for a bit and just running the Vanguard playlist and a couple of other activities my postmaster was constantly being filled with garbage that I was forced to constantly stop playing the game to manage all the garbage flooding it, and I mean garbage, garbage that is by design to waste a players time playing the game. I've always found it funny how this developer uses the same perks for multiple weapons in this game but they just change the name of a few of them to make it appear you are getting a "new item", but it's the same damn perks, pure lazy development and now it's a lot worse then it use to be. Farming in this game is a huge -blam!- joke that has no goal, no purpose that the joke is on you.

          • I predict this game will be dead by Christmas. I step forward, two steps back. This dev team can’t help themselves. The whole class item needs to be reimagined and made available to solo players. Then you need a proper way to focus the perks - you know - like we already do with weapons… Who else is getting sick of this?

Most games engage users with mindless play time. Hence, the RNG for the roll "you" or "I" are looking for will just pad more playtime. Hoarding became worse since the champion and mods were introduced (and the seasonal artefact perks). Every season might bring a change which may make a random perk combination extremely useful for a season (anyone remember the season when fusion rifles for an extreme advantage for boss DPS?) If Bungie made everything craftable, then people would stop farming the activities. I honestly haven't played the whisper or outbreak mission since I unlocked all crafting perks. The only time I jumped in was to help others. That's it. This must be a huge playtime loss to Bungie across the player base. Imagine if the new exotic class item was craftable. Most people would be done with it by now (ignoring the hate for multiplayer, but that is another topic). Bungie wants us to grind the game to increase player engagement and maybe justify the numbers to the investors. Who knows? However, they forget that every season is a repetitive grind, and after 4+ years of mindless repetitive activities, people are tired. Whenever I see a new grind, I just log out as it's a time gated perk or weapon that is losing its shine, getting nerfed, getting outclassed, or something similar. So many weapons were a must-have and had their grind, but now they are just useless. Most exotics are just a waste of inventory now due to heavy nerfing or better alternatives. People wouldn't complain if there was a good return on investing more in playtime. That is the core problem, IMHO.

            • Tell me about it . I just finished the pathfinder thing it gave me armor with a roll of 54 this is literally why I don’t do any more grinding in this game

            • You stole my idea lol. The exotic class item should just have two empty exotic perk slots and you just unlock the exotic perks. Removes the vault clutter and the need to farm them on all 3 characters

            • Cause they conditioned you to chase and crafting minimizes that foundational loop. And let’s be real, y’all roll over for the simplest stuff. I haven’t even tried for the class item. Don’t feel any want or need for it, so the effort isn’t worth it.

            • Make them craftable. Even if that means multiple further runs of dual destiny. Just make them craftable.

            • Crafting was supposed to be the fix to this. Started with limited weapons. Everyone hoped all weapons would be added. Unlock weapon and use to unlock further. The hope was to use unlocks and crafting to eliminate the excess storage. The balance of crafting vs random roll was never set. Especially how much effort is really needed to get your personal god roll. Poor planning or lack of effort in improving overall gameplay. Way too much focus on the new shiny.

            • While I get the grind is frustrating for class items I wish people would stop using the total number of possible combinations. Nobody is keeping every combination for say apex predator. There are clear best combos.

              • You would not believe the number of people who use this, the number of ergo sum combinations, and the number of exotics in the game as an excuse to hoard a bunch of junk

                • No it is not poor game design, it is poor decision making on your part. If you have a hoarding problem, then how is that on Bungie ? Delete the ones you don't need/want and keep the ones you want. It is as simple as that.
