Hi. I love this game. I spend lots in silver on cosmetics and buy every expansion. Look up my account if you doubt my commitment. Last time I was able to complete a raid was D1. Destiny (1 & 2) and Halo have always been my constants. And I love you all for that. And will always love you.
However, I have an issue with Accessibility in the Dual Destiny mission. Namely, due to my crippling social anxiety, which I take medication for, I cannot access this activity without nearing a panic attack as everyone requires mic on. I’ve tried. Really I have. It just…hurts.
I was most excited for these items in the release and outside of getting VERY DRUNK and finding one random good samaritan to help me with my Hunter item, the very idea of trying to do that again for the other classes is a LITERAL NIGHTMARE scenario for me.
Please explain.
Why did you do this to me? In a loot game? For a couple lines of Savathun dialogue about choice (which ironically we were not given)?
It doesn’t make sense. Can’t there be a way to obtain the first drop outside of a mission that makes me want to die?

1 ReplyJust do it. Please. It’s not that hard. Really it isn’t just do it a few times and you’ll get the hang of it
-
22 RepliesI doubt your commitment chief and here is why. This game since vanilla d1 has included playing and talking with others, and now after 10 years you were expecting it to suddenly just change? Just be real and say what you mean, that you want a handout.
-
3 RepliesI think the current mission is fine.
-
9 RepliesIt's called dual destiny for a reason. Not solo destiny.
-
2 RepliesFor anyone replying to posts like this one here. Don't bother with it. No matter how many options and solutions you tell them they will find 7 more that says otherwise. They don't want to run it only the rewards with 0 effort on their part everything else it's an excuse. So best thing we can do is just stop engaging with posts like this. 👍

Absolutely absurd that this is coming out of an adults mouth. What you’re saying essentially is that you can’t function in society? If you can’t talk to someone over a mic w no face, there’s no way you can out in public. That is a literal issue that should not be catered to or enabled.

It's not just that we should have a solo hard version that players can play by themselves if they want to avoid toxic shitheads. Frankly I wouldn't care if the solo version was so damn hard that it would take me more than a week to practice it to master it. I rather do that than deal with some immature adult whose idea to help others is to blame people for his own problems like a -blam!-. People like that are the reason why 5 years ago I threw away my microphone. I don't have anxiety I'm a very social person, but I'm not going to waste time on a video game if players are going to do half of the mission and then leave because you refuse to play like them some video game for -blam!- sake. Its co-op you help others you do the mission you finish it you don't just leave because you don't like the way to being done. I saw crap like that way too much in the brave update with legend outslaught players quitting before wave 50 and pantheon. I really think bungie should have implemented a much more strict toxic player system where if you are being toxic and you are reported for it you received some kind of consequence. I think bungee let's players get away with too much -blam!- doesn't matter if it's PVE or PVP. After all the player numbers are down in my opinion not because of the content but because of the toxicity of this community. Just like how there are a few popular streamers who even say that this community got worse over the years. Even the people I talked to on social media who did dual destiny multiple times they did it with people that they know in real life they avoided the community altogether.

Has anxiety disorder plays a mmo light you can’t make this up I’m sorry have that but the key word in mmo is multiplayer

Nobody did anything TO you. They are not taking your personal needs into account when creating content of any kind. As someone who's been on citalopram and fluoxetine at different points in the past, you can do it, especially when you have proven yourself capable of doing the mission, albeit drunk. There's SO many portions of this game that either require or largely benefit from communication, like raids, dungeons, and this mission, the latter being the least comm-dependant and can be done through text chat, which you could specify in your own LFG group. We've never needed solo raids or dungeons, and we don't need a solo version of this. I wish you the best of luck. It can be done, and you'll have a much easier time doing it than trying to gain support on this or any other forum for making it solo as far as I can tell.

Theres only one way to beat your social anxiety and this is coming from someone who has been battling with OCD and being mildly psychotic his entire life.. You just gotta face it. Do exactly that, just do the mission and team up. Panic attacks are just that and ive had thousands. Is it easy? No but its the only way. Only you can change yourself. Bungie aint gonna change you by removing the need for 2 people for that mission. Youll still have your crippling social anxiety.
-
It’s a game….. quit playing and change your life, my gosh it’s pathetic, grow up the world doesn’t revolve around you.
-
Play. A solo. Game. Please don’t demand an online game to be modified to work with your disorder. More and more people proclaim to have anxiety and PTSD these days. It is unfortunate, but sometimes those with disorders have greater barriers than those who are… normal. Bungie simply cannot accommodate everyone with issues. Some people are blind, some are deaf, some suffer anxiety, some have arthritis - what would a game look like that accommodated all of these conditions?
-
4 RepliesI’m sure you’ve heard it a 100 times, so forgive me for being 101, but your social anxiety only improves when you take steps to be social. Is it gonna suck? Maybe. But it’s also an opportunity to step out of your comfort zone in a social situation with someone who’s in the same situation as you (of just wanting to get it done, not necessarily the anxiety) and a mission with very few actual callouts needed Bungie didn’t set up this mission to help you improve, just like they didn’t make it to spite you, but that doesn’t mean you can’t use it to try to work through some of your issues

When you pull up to a drive through is it nerve racking? I seriously want to know, because I can't conceptualize living like that.

2 RepliesI also have social anxiety and going for therapy (that doing nothing until now). I managed to do the mission a few times for my hunter (when we double loot bug) once for my warlock and still need 1 for my titan. You also did 1 you said. If both of us could do it once im sure you can do it again. Anyway its barely 20 words over 30 minutes fun mission.

Nothing was done to you. Play the game for fun not loot and you will enjoy yourself more. The only communication required for the mission is calling out or describing some symbols and calling out some numbers in a few encounters. There is no need for any conversing other than basic call outs. If this is a nightmare to you then why put yourself through it? Have you actually tried it to say it's a nightmare?
-
While I sympathize.. it's called dual destiny for a reason. Play with someone you vibe with and get it done.
-
Don’t bother with it. You would probably only need it for their future communication missions.
-
Not to worry, Bungie will likely just hand them out soon enough and players won't have to actually do anything for the Exotic class gear.
-
Why can’t people just accept that they’re not going to get all the loot in this game.
-
Hit me up sometime if you want to run it. My hunter needs to get it. Name is OurLordPotatoAim
-
you can run it with chat / keyboard input. if you wanna go for it without mic I'll help
-
1 Reply
Why did you do this to me?
Because you bought a multiplayer game without taking the communication part into account.
-
Edited by klaahn: 7/15/2024 9:01:00 PMmultiplayer has always been a key part of this game. This exotic armor is no different than the last 20 exotics that can only be acquired by raiding. Except that it’s better because it’s a guaranteed drop if you can struggle through it
-
11 RepliesTake the time it took you to post this and make your own lfg post for Duel Destiny. You can say no mic if you're that scared. Ultimately you bought a coop game. Not everything will be accessible to you if you refuse to socialize.
-
You can run dual destiny with no mic.
