Unfortunately, Tribute doesn't work, because players don't play the objective. They just run around with their heads cut off. I've watched so many players with big stacks of motes not bank while they are literally standing right next to the bank. It just doesn't play as you intended. I would much rather just have regular control, or even rift.

2 RepliesIt's a long range meta. I can't run into the whole squad to pick up one crest. The meta makes me have to ignore the objective. I vote for it being a trash objective and should be changed to getting a kill gives you charge that you deposit to grant allied assist mechanics to spawn around the map. Like turrets that shoot the enemy, healing stations, and ammo drops.

You do know people don't play the objective in other modes, right? The community plays every mode like clash except for ironically, clash lol. That they play like hide and seek lol.

Regular supremecy would be better , everyone can pick up an engram , I hope

Doesn’t matter what they do. Matchmaking will always hold this game back.

It would still be trash. It's a bad mode, just like fortress, just like this game's version of rift. It's why Control (still an OBJ mode to an extent) is the most popular IB mode and it's why the zone control playlist is populated right now. People hate these IB modes, and I can't blame them. Two of them are horrible and the third is a worse version of something we had 7 years ago in D1.

13 RepliesEdited by Paul5013: 7/14/2024 10:43:01 PMThing is: playing the objective is never rewarding individually - not in D2 and not in many other PvP games. It doesnt feel satisfying, it doesnt get you any individual progress and with the amount of garbage thrown out as loot, a good individual performance will always feel better than sacrificing that for the match win. In D2, it also takes an unnecessary amount of time. It takes way too long to fe. capture objectives, which essentially prevents you from taking part in the action - and you dont even get something for it apart from a higher place on a scoreboard nobody gives a -blam!- about since they removed kills from it, as if they weren’t the most important thing in a PvP. As much as people like to push that mindset, a match is first and foremost won with kills, not by standing on an objective all day. Both is necessary, but you cant capture and hold objectives without the kills and its ridiculous to pretend they matter so little that they arent worth to be the top influence for your place on the scoreboard. Bungie needs to design objectives as side goals to force fights, not put people in front of the choice of action vs. objectives. This simply makes this mode and pretty much all the other objective modes in D2 bad - the focus on objectives is way too heavy.
I've watched so many players with big stacks of motes not bank while they are literally standing right next to the bank.
It evens itself out as an equal number on each side do and don't play the objective (as long as no stacks). Some people are very team-oriented banking even 1.. some are having fun or think they can get more.. (and they sometimes can) thats just people.. don't worry about them.. just have your own game and fun.. I was in the hating tribute camp earlier in the week.. up-voted all those posts.. and I left the mode for comp.. zone control... the moon.. pve.. but eventually you just need the casual PVP fix and I decided I am gonna test some weapons so I can delete them.. and it became very ok.. and acceptable.. it has its gameplay loop (trust me now have played like a hundred...): your team takes position and no one will score for the 1st bit.. for a while.. then the dunking crests will begin.. there is a moment where the other team better realize that a team has decided to beat them and get more loot.. if they do the score will naturally get tighter and may remain close until the very end.. less often you get the early mercy at least later in the week from what I saw... I also saw almost everyone start playing the objective.. passive players will cost their team.. high resil.. rush in there and dunk your crests (using the podium to block the gunfire).. less worry about your "combat efficiency" because its not displayed and this is not the mode for that.. it still let me test my weapons I've saved several copies of and delete them if they don't perform or I find the good ones... I also found people having some good gunplay battles.. and then its decision time if u can grab the crest.. and will you go dunk or not.. ..actually now my biggest issue with it is the maps.. I just see the same stuff over and over but I guess thats usual as a PVP issue.. was happy to see the Dead Cliffs finally though -
1 ReplyNot many people want to play these objectives, they are terrible for the gameplay
