My theory is that the conductor is either
Maya Sundaresh or the same conductor from the veil, who sat in the conductor chair and communicated with the veil. Which should be obvious given the Ishtar logo in star crossed, but not sure if it confirmed.
Agree? Disagree? Is there a major plot point I’m missing? Let me know!

1 ReplyEdited by Shockwave 989: 7/16/2024 1:20:54 PMIt’s Maya. There’s no way it’s anyone but Maya. Mysterious Conductor manipulating the Vex with an interest in the Golden Age? It’s just a question of whether it’s a simulated copy or the Maya who got herself brain fried by the Veil. My guess is on the latter, but regardless I’m guessing that the Echo is what finally allowed her to begin establishing herself.

It's Lakshmi-2 She didn't die at the end of Splicer, she just transfered her conscience to the vex Now she will use the anomaly to make an army of self aware vex to get revenge on Ikora -
2 RepliesI think the conductor is Evil Mara. Thank you, I will not be taking any questions at this time.

Tbh I think you’re kinda spot on. My personal bet is that it’s one of the Vex-Copied versions of Maya - specifically MSund 12 (the 12th copy of her that accessed the Insight Terminus). She accessed the prediction engine, saw the future, went rogue, and is trying to use the Vex to “save” humanity. It’s just that her saving means turning everyone into part of her Chorus. She’s crazy, so good intentions leading to bad methods

Well actually to someone of my considerable lore knowledge it's actually quite obvious that it's Asher Mir sitting on the Speaker's shoulders in a trench coat while being mind controlled by Failsafe's sassy personality but don't feel bad, it's a common rookie mistake.

Well in Beyond Light we saw a Golden Age era copy of Maya work with the Vex to torture Clovis for information about Clarity. https://www.ishtar-collective.net/records/clovis-brays-logbook-missing-pages So it’s been setup for a while for it to be her, in some way. I see people bring up Lakshmi but they seem to forget she was only a partial imprint, explicitly stated in the Veil Containment lore. Not to mention she died without being hooked up to anything, so her mind died with her body, as there’s never been a single instance of wireless mind transference. Always requires a direct connection. The only question is if it’s going to be the evil copy or the real her brought back somehow.

Oh really? Maya Sundaresh?

Oh absolutely, it's all but a secret currently. My best guess is that:
We know Maya Sundaresh and Lakshmi-2 are one and the same(along with some other consciousnesses of the brain-dead Exos), during her experimentation with the conductor chair as explained by the end of the Chioma Esi tapes during Veil Containment. With this knowledge I believe she intended to re-enter the Vex Network to link back up with her "copies" however Chioma Esi had her removed from Neomuna before she could, by having a Cloud Strider take her along when they visited Earth to delete Rasputin's data on Neomuna. However being dumped in London she was basically left to fend for herself, which was attacked by Fallen Raiders, before making her way to the Last City. Then began setting up the Future War Cult to prepare herself in a long con to get back into the Vex Network that ended in Splicer. Her Exo body was all that was left so we assumed she was dead, but the knowledge of the Conductor Chair experiment/the Vex Device she was using during that Season must have been passed off (just based on lore this season such as searching data on London real estate or describing her watching the Eliksni captain lament over her dead body) and now one of the Maya copies have possession of this Conductor Device (as seen in the artwork). With the power of the Echo fragment that landed on Nessus, she has enough power to command a larger army along with the Vex Device.
Could be wrong but that's how I personally think the story will go.

6 RepliesWow! Egads! What a theory! As if Ikora didn’t spell it out for us when she said something about this situation reminded her of “the Endless Night”! Remember that? Remember Lakshmi, and who she’s a clone of???
