Just lading 2 headshots it's not possible anymore in this meta, bows are in a great disadvantage against things like khovostov and red death, they can't even compete in their intended range, TTK is way too high for this type of weapons to be even usable. Not even quick swapping is possible fue to the latest changes.
Bow need and overall damage buff in pvp and arrows need to be hitscan, so that, like the other hitscan weapons, can hit while peak shooting (and don't constantly hit walls while the enemy does hit).
Sucks to like playing bows right now, hope Bungie does something about this.

Absolutely not, they ruin games of PvP probably more than snipers…

11 RepliesNo thanks, bows are designed in a way that can never have them balanced in pvp. It’s either going to be a miserable weapon to play or miserable weapon to play against, it’s better for them to stay out of pvp.
-
4 RepliesBows can die in a fire. When they’re good they trash the entire crucible. If they get a buff, they need to use special ammo.

Bows are literally the most annoying weapon in crucible offering special (previously slug shotgun body shot damage) weapon like damage across a sniper rifle distance range with hand cannon aim assist and flinching them does very little to nothing in a primary weapon. Without question the worst playstyles to ever verse is le monarque with oathkeepers on invis hunter. I'm pretty sure checkmates health changes were literally created because of an inability to balance bows so they had to redesign the primary sandbox and leave them behind.

1 ReplyEdited by Sterling: 7/5/2024 5:23:21 PM2023 Wishender and Monarch, I would rather have shatter dive cracked again then get plinked 1000 feet away with wall hacks for an entire season. They are an infinite ammo sniper, it makes them have to tread carefully or you get infinite range low ttks. Tell you what they can do, hot swap with a 120 hand cannon. Still works very well if you get snap quickdraw.

They should 1 shot to the head.

Unfortunately bows will never be balanced in Crucible without taking huge hits to their usability. They’d have to feel downright awful to use (like LFR level flinch and Acrius handling) to be balanced around the damage they used to do because bow blinting is fundamentally busted. Bungie has to balance bows around bow blinting which makes them feel nearly unusable if you’re not doing it. Generally, it’s accepted by most PvP players that bows must stay terrible for the health of the game because they just fill the role of a sniper with infinite ammo and way less skill required (which is saying something because snipers are not particularly high skill either). Probably not the answer you want but it’s the truth, from a former bow player.
Also aren’t bows hit scan on perfect draw? I swear they made a change a while back that made their projectile speed on perfect draw as large as possible so it functions essentially like a hit scan weapon.
I agree it's probably got to suck liking bows.. But it's also true that bows being good has never not been bad for pvp as a whole. The most boring thing to play against outside of scout spam, and they're really just the same.

-
Yeah let’s not
-
Nah man. Delete this lol.

Bows deliver damage in a way intrinsically beneficial to pvp. When they're good it's really really annoying. When they're mid, they're bad. I'd rather they be bad personally, bow meta is not worth the sandbox.
-
Bows should never be good in pvp. Theyre unhealthy for the sandbox if they get a crumb of usefulness
-
Idk man I see YouTubers with bows absolutely destroying people jumping on walls with stasis crystals getting clever angles. I believe there is a skill issue here

Edited by amazing_month041: 7/6/2024 10:56:38 AMLe Monarque still good in pvp and it can always 2 tap and it has crazy aim assist I would like to use other bows but nah

There handcannon hunter main overlords will not allow that -
It is certainly possible to hit both crits, but the base skill requirement has gone up a lot. I do think the aim assist nerfs hit a bit too hard and instead should have been given damage falloff like other weapons in the game. The other thing that should have happened to balance them out after requiring 2 crits was reducing the reload animation cap from 0.5s to 0.3s. This would have allowed them to compete more with other weapons within their intended range and hopefully lessen the peek shooting style that everybody hates. They did release archers gambit again which acts as a slight band aide to bows, but it requires a specific perk instead of having been implemented to the archetype as a whole. In the end, I feel like the changes mentioned above would put bows in a more healthier state as well as one that would lessen the annoyance of playing against.

Yes let's bring back the passive sitting in spawn, no objective play style back pls.
-
I’m so glad bows are the way that they are right now

If bows suck to use then don't use it, not very long ago bows dominated pvp with the quick swapping/wish-ender. If its your favorite thing to use in pvp then maybe this is your time to take a break from pvp until then next weapon balance or find something else to use.

Bungie hit them a bit too hard. Instead of focusing on the 2-3 bows actually causing problems and 1 OP playstyle, Bungie decided it was easier to make all bows terrible. Wish-Ender’s wall-hacks made it the best peak shooting weapon with 0 downside in trials. Le Mon got a buff when they changed its damage profile because Bungie doesn’t know why lightweight bows are bad. It’s not the damage, it’s the accuracy and stability stats. Bungie didn’t touch that, so Le Mon remained the best stat-ed bow in the game by a significant margin. Quick Swapping just needed a penalty. Maybe not letting you swap after shooting a bow until you reload it (even just in PvP). Instead they took the easy way out and dumpstered an entire weapon type.

Edited by s: 7/5/2024 11:16:34 AMBows are still very strong they just require a high skill curve. No longer can you sit 50 meters from everyone and cheese with them. Now for them to be good (which they are) one must chain class abilities with them or weapon swap after tagging with them. I personally think the best way to buff them would be to increase their fire rate rather than buff their damage back to how cheesey they used to be. edit: that or simply like rocket sidearms keep the weapon class a pve weapon class as it is a rather failed weapon design for pvp

elitegcan you clean up PVP a little? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ - old
This is pretty old/sad news about bows. These things sit in my vault and they used to be a fun option to pull out.. but I'll give you something to try that I just experimented with today that I don't know if I'll get to test again: try air trigger / 1 hop bow shooting with max reload / icarus grip.. etc try in that direction.. I was getting some nice results where I test in grasp of avarice but got mauled and lost patience with that strat after 1 game of Iron Banner, lol... still if you are dedicated could work... the air trigger came with Point of the Stag.. but I also tried the 1 hop with Lethophobia/Pre-Nasty.. and obviously nice perks will help.. but test out maxing reload and draw speed if possible.. that was the direction I was headed. ...by hop I mean no double jump just single jump to trigger "air" benefits from trigger,assault,icarus..etc ...I think it has a chance in PVE but will take some expertise in PVP if there is a benefit.. and I may be just way off wrong but know bow people are dedicated > pls let me know if it works if you try! -
1 ReplyI'm voting for Joeton. my favorite pvp weapon but bungie took my toy away . now if you don't have a hand cannon and go around punching everything. your using AR. pvp was fun watching them blow up,but now it's got a Corn cob up it and boring.
