REVIEW: The Final Shape Is Over-rated

CAMPAIGN Campaign isn't that good, maybe better than Lightfall, even though it was completely predictable and filled with mostly cut scenes and monologue. PRISMATIC I find it to be under-whelming. I don't even use transcendence. The concept is cool, but overall I feel it is nothing more than a novelty. THE PALE HEART This is the only thing I have enjoyed thus far. Patrols. Not alot compared to other AAA games, but so far the best in Destiny. PATHFINDER Lame. This is coming from someone who doesn't do bounties, but I still prefer the bounty system over Pathfinder because it doesn't force me to play content that I don't want. Also, why isn't it front and center in the director? Why is access to it somewhat hidden? EXOTICS/WEAPONS/ARMOR Pretty solid, even though I don't really have any plans to actually use any of it. EPISODES It appears to be the same as a season, except we are getting 3 instead of 4. So basically we are getting less content for the money if paid annually. RAID Haven't played it, because I don't do Raids. Not worth the time investment in my opinion. SOUND Not as good as previous DLC's. GRAPHICS Same. Dated. OVERALL As predicted, too much recycled content. Review: 6/10. As a Destiny main of the past 4 years, I really don't see myself sticking around much longer. I just I wish didn't give in to the hype and spend $200 on it. I'm not saying Destiny is a bad game, I'm just saying I think it has run its course, and I don't see Bungie bringing anything innovative to it in the future. Bungie just isn't the game developer it used to be. I think Bungie/Destiny is dead.

It's good but not as good as Forsaken and Taken King. Prismatic and some weapons are fun. The story was told in cutscenes and parts of it made little sense. The rest of the campaign was the same run here and do stuff, this time with raid mechanics. That final speech from Zavala where nobody said "Hang on, he was going to run out on us an hour ago. And he got his Ghost killed. Clown" and yet characters not seen for ages rocked up and then disappeared right after. Ikora getting emotionally incontinent, again. Yawn. And the Witness at the final battle waving his arms around was just, well it made me laugh. He's the ultimate bad guy in the universe .. "I can slice things into fragments with the mere flick of a finger don't you know but hey, this time I'll just stand here and let them shoot me". The end of a ten year saga went out not with a bang but a whimper. Cayde was the highlight and Savathun as well, their voice actors deserve every penny. The woman who does Savathun is just brilliant. Nathan Fillion just as good as he ever was at playing Cayde. The rest of it is a lot of grind and very little content that is genuinely new. 18 missions, the same one three times, over three characters to get your subclasses, aspects and grenades, the fragment hunts were occassionally interesting but mostly the same run here time fillers we've seen before. Same as Micah's quests where we were sent back into old content for the McGuffin that's always at the end. Overthrows are the same type of three levels and then kill the boss we have seen many times before. Cysts are just bigger lost sectors and it just feels like Bungie engineered every part of this to get you to spend time in game. The class item mission I am told is fun and a mate wants to run it so we'll see. Personally it's yet another uneccessary hoop jumping exercise that sums up Final Shape. Getting it is the content, once you have it there is nothing new to do with it. It smacks of Bunge trying to be clever, most of the time that's aiming way too high. Seasonal activity is dull. This week it's scan these, do a strike, now a seasonal thing. Now go do some activities and bounties on Nessus. Wow, pushing those boundaries right out there. And this is their storytelling. Last week's message was the robot and his boyfriend telling us about their relationship. Yawn. Giant who cares. What I don't get is that the lore cards and the exotic descriptions are excellently written, yet we get this two dimensional guff as a story. I'll give it a couple of weeks before the diehards start getting restless.
