The Problem with Prismatic

I'm having alot of trouble delving into prismatic as a class. The class choices for supers, abilites, and the exotic class items are missing alot of potential combinations as the class there are a list of supers that do not belong as choices for the classes, which makes players lose a ton of combo potentials and loadout build potentials as the game progresses with it's slow burn with episodes. So here's a list of everything I've compiled as a player so far: Warlocks: -The arc super for prismatic should NOT be Stormcaller, but Chaos Reach. Warlocks already have a ton of ad clearing potential through weapons and not enough damage for boss DPS. As a Warlock, the two best Supers are Nova Bomb: Cataclysm and Needlestorm. Putting Chaos Reach adds better loadout build potential for Warlocks than Stormcaller by a landslide. -Incinerator Snap is a poor choice of melee for warlocks vs Celestial Fire as warlocks do not fair in close range as well as Hunters and Titans. If anything, Celestial fire can proc Radiant and other buffs better at long range than Incinerator Snap can at close range where Warlocks may sometimes get One-Tapped by stronger foes such as bosses. -With no access for Void Soul, Warlocks have some slower ability uptimes than Hunter and Titan. While being transcendent, that's not really an issue. But for certain builds, having a Child of the Old Gods over Feed the Void (since we can actually use Secant Filaments to get devour another way) would make a better choice of build options for warlocks since their abilities require more charge time. Hunters: -Arcbolt Grenades have no place for prismatic. Only one Exotic piece can actually work for a build regarding them and it's just not feasible in higher-end content once you are past the legendary campaign. Skip Grenades are a far better choice and have alot more utility in the long run as a grenade choice. -Shatterdive would be a way better option for the hunter stasis aspect for prismatic than winter's shroud as it has mutiple uses and loadout potential compared to winter shroud. Titans: -Replace Hammer of Sol with Burning Maul. Hammer of Sol can't dish out end game damage like Burning Maul can and the class synergy with it is somewhat lackluster compared to Burning Maul as there are more combination potentials with that than Hammer. Exotic Class Items: -The very first flaw of the Exotic Class Items are that they do half of the power of a regular exotic piece, even when you combine two Spirits. This vastly lowers the potential of these items, and even half of the spirits involved are bugged as it is. -Back in D1, we could equip Exotic Class Items along with Exotic Armor Items that made the game more fun. While back then, there weren't any special abilities to them, just being able to equip two exotic armor pieces was really nice and felt that we were increasing in power because of it. In D2, we can only equip the class item to lackluster upgrade in ability in comparison to the regular Exotic Armor Items we have acquired over the years. -If we were able to equip the exotic class item now with the special spirits along with the Exotic Armor of our choice, we would actually be able to make full builds with these combinations. If it means having to lower the capabilities of the spirits to balance out the power coming from combinations with these class items, I can see a lot more loadout potential happening for each class that deserves this freedom. -Since the rolls are random, I do not see why they can't be acquired at least 15% more from chests or events from The Pale Heart. With a large pool of combinations to get, having to do the Dual Destiny missions and waiting on other people over and over to do multiple runs to get lackluster combinations 85% of the time is not very good for a new exotic item in general. I understand the need to keep power in check for a game like this, but seriously this is frustrating. So I ask Bungie to take these factors into consideration and hopefully make the following changes listed above in a later update.

  • I think this is intentional as Bungie had to put some limitations on Prismatic to make the other subclasses still viable. If Prismatic had it all, noone would play any of the other subclasses.

  • You're forgetting that Prismatic is purposefully 'unfinished' though --- that they stated from the beginning that additional aspects, facets, and features as well as things for the class items will be released in the future for it. They didn't ship it "complete" but rather left it open to use it as content faucets in later episodes.
