Today, I’m sad to say “I told you so.”
Bungie’s sudden change to the Salvation’s Edge raid release schedule on top of having a major issue with connection/server overloaded for the majority of players caused a drastic decline in contest mode participation/clear rates for Salvation’s Edge.
Salvation’s Edge participation/clear rate lowest numbers since Garden of Salvation - which was the last raid prior to Bungie switching to the 2nd weekend after the expansion release / contest mode model of raid releases.

That seems pretty logical. Less time to prepare / server issues = less participation. Who would have predicted otherwise? The other question is, does it matter? Surely the true test of the raid is how many people engage with it over the coming weeks and months.
