Today, I’m sad to say “I told you so.”
Bungie’s sudden change to the Salvation’s Edge raid release schedule on top of having a major issue with connection/server overloaded for the majority of players caused a drastic decline in contest mode participation/clear rates for Salvation’s Edge.
Salvation’s Edge participation/clear rate lowest numbers since Garden of Salvation - which was the last raid prior to Bungie switching to the 2nd weekend after the expansion release / contest mode model of raid releases.

But the content creators feel special again , and that's what is more important

1 ReplyAdditionally, A) This drop in participation is a 19% decline compared to raids released under “contest mode” & on weekends. B) The raid being super difficult would only effect the success rate, not the attempted rate. The community didn’t know how hard the raid was going to be prior to its release. Nor would it have prevented teams from attempting to clear it when it was released. No one knew how hard this raid would be until it was already running. Also, previous super hard contest mode raids didn’t have this drop.

The streamers wanted a challenge, Bungie did exactly that, they should all be happy as they all got exactly what they wanted and asked for.
-
3 RepliesBungie believes the community wants hard impossible content. When most just want fun content you like replaying.
-
That seems pretty logical. Less time to prepare / server issues = less participation. Who would have predicted otherwise? The other question is, does it matter? Surely the true test of the raid is how many people engage with it over the coming weeks and months.
-
But people on reddit tell me solo players are -blam!-, and that everyone loves doing raids. Reddit lied I am shocked.

1 ReplyI wonder how much money Bungie made off of players buying Ranks?
-
1 ReplyIt’s also quite possibly the hardest raid so far which definitely had an effect on

2 RepliesEdited by ㅤ Avvor: 6/12/2024 12:00:49 AMSalvations edge was the hardest day 1 in destiny history It makes it more special that way especially for what seems like destiny’s last big expansion Only way it could of been improved is cutting 48 hours back down to 24 allowing people to get into normal earlier and making it like it used to be with the old contest raids P.s salvations raid clears weren’t low because of the yap that you said Servers were for the most part fine on Friday and Saturday and it was low because it was the literal hardest day 1 ever 1 team properly earned it in 24 hours and the other few thousand players that had the time to no life 30-40 of there weekend away also got it done making it on the rarer side as far as a day 1 A perfect regular day 1 would probably have 1000 teams complete it in 24 hours in terms of how difficult it should likely be with this being a well designed exception
-
1 ReplyIt was low because it was an extremely hard raid on the level of last wish contest. The contest mode was specifically made for teams who were going for worlds first, while I stand by that normal should open when contest is beaten for the first time, it wasn’t due to what you said.

3 RepliesWow. You really went out on a limb on this one. Billed in advance as the toughest Raid produced to date. Remind me to not invite you on the next Vegas trip.

5 RepliesDo you want a gold star or something?

1 ReplyI remember doing the D1 Kings Fall on opening weekend. It was fun. Everyone got stuck on War Priest for ages. It didn’t feel impossible to finish you just needed determination. I must of gone through dozens of LFG groups using the 3rd party LFG sites and eventually got it done early hours of Monday morning. There was buzz about the game that hasn’t been the same since.
-
2 RepliesIt’s gunna have low participation in general because the loot sucks and it’s the hardest raid yet
-
1 ReplyYou'll get the neckbeards knickers in a twist with this post 😆 🤣
-
1 ReplyYes, we know. Day one was hard AF. Your point?
-
1 ReplyI’d argue that engagement was low because of people watching Verity and The Witness on day one. People were getting clapped so bad that I think players didnt care to even try.
-
6 RepliesGive it a rest. It's a world's first against the main antagonist of the franchise. The raid hasn't been out a week yet.
-
1 ReplyMaybe because it's locked out for everyone who: -Doesn't have people to raid with -doesn't have TWELVE CONTINOUS HOURS to figure out each encounter -wants to raid but has crippling social anxiety
-
"less players is always a good thing" -Some brilliant manager at Bungie probably Sony is gonna love the player drop off this game is about to have. Along with the forced 2 man raid mechanics timed mission to get class item..... hooooo boy

Wasn't it supposed to be that way?
