Destiny 2 needs a raid ENTRY difficulty without revive tokens like Destiny 1.

The goal is to get more people playing the endgame and pull my less talented friends through. What does everyone else think?

  • Root Of Nightmares , minus the planet encounter The other 4 people are just there for ad clear and moral support, while 2 KWTD people are connecting the nodes

  • Personally, I've thought revive tokens in raids were stupid since leviathan launched. I much preferred the long revive timer in D1 to punish death rather than tokens and a wipe timer like in D2.

  • Bungie desperately needs to work on how they handle difficulty. I think this is what needs to happen: New Light: -Can overlevel up to +50 -Enemies have less health -Purely focuses on any narrative aspect and the experience. Game actively trying to push the player to play on Explorer at least as their regular difficulty. Emphasis on teaching and providing proper tutorials. -New Light raid, dungeon, and exotic quest experience to give these players a raid, dungeon, and exotic quest that aren't the existing ones that will still reward them accordingly. Explorer: -Can overlevel to +30 -Enemies have slightly less health -More accessible but still starts to engage and introduce the player to mechanics and more typical combat expectations. -Depending on activity drops are different. For a raid it would be raid exotic drop or quest disabled with a single weapon and single armor drop upon completetion. Exotic quests would require currency like acendant shards to purchase the exotic at the end due to easier difficulty. Guardian: -Can overlevel up to +30 -Pre-Lightfall Normal difficulty -All normal drops -The way the game is intended to be played by most. Legend: -Player forced -10 power -This would fall in between the Pre-Lightfall Legend and Master difficulties. Neither really worked as one was too easy and the other was often overtuned for what it was trying to be. -25% loot buff. -Where lots of stronger gear drops start such as exotic catalysts, curated rolls, high stat armor etc. -Most titles requirements for non endgame activites fall in this category -Empower the player for rising to the occasion but don't overwhelm Master -Player forced -20 power -This would replace grandmaster and would be where most players would cap out. -50% loot buff. All armor drops 64+. Double perks on final column for weapons. Can use currency to enhance perks on weapons from master content. -Start of exlcusive drops such as adepts and other new ways of offering truly unique stand out and powerful gear for playing at higher difficulties. Paragon -Player forced -30 power -This would sit above grandmaster to give those who want extreme challenge the ability to have it without ruining the game for everyone else. -100% loot buff -Several very hard to obtain exotics availble here to entice players to engage. Legendary armor with a bonus perk and mod slot, max stat drop armor, legendary weapons have double perk drops in both columns and +20 masterworks rather than +10. All weapons drop with the enhanced versions of their perks. People should be able to play the way they want and be rewarded accordingly. This would also give Bungie the chance to actually run wild on ideas for Paragon but also force them to make smarter design choices moving forward on everything they make.

  • Agreed. It seems a shame for the devs to put so much time/effort into creating the raids, only for so many players to never go near them. I used to raid regularly in D1. But a combination of no longer playing with the groups I used to and the changes Bungie have made have resulted in me only having a couple of completions in D2.

I think this would make players not even play the game. If you’re talking about replacing it with a timer then I think more players would actually raid.

      • Personally, I did like hard mode in D1 No revives and playing with more risk did feel pretty rewarding if you ask me Granted no self-res But I do also think it is a slight bit petty basically Less talented still need to learn the mechanics of a raid Even if they want borders Not everyone can just assumably and safely say 🗣” I will add clear” (granted some parts it will be that but may also have to think) I've even seen people say they are not a people person and they trust there friends more than randoms Bungie just wants to keep promoting fireteam finder which only works halfway through how they wanted it intended I've used it enough to where either A. Someone will Kick you last second for something basically (Bungie needs to resolve that) B. A bunch of liars will come in and say they know the raid but they just wanna get carried C. Most experienced always need there ol reliable KWTD (its understandable really) Fireteam finder isn't a mistake but it is a mess :/

      • They used to have normal mode raids in D1, no revive tokens, just learn mechanics. Probably had higher raid participation numbers. They had a hard mode with limited revives, I think the rewards had a higher light/power level and a slightly different look.

        • I think that the game could use a Pantheon lite. Single encounter of raids on a rotator, with world drops instead of the raid loot, and spoils. I think a lot of the discouraging part of raiding for newer entries, is that it can be a 3-4hr+ trip through the raid, and a lot of players dont have the time to devote a block of time like that to learn a raid in entirety. Break it into smaller sections, or just encounters, and it is easier to learn and practice just that encounter whenever you have some free time. Then when its time to do the raid, you know the encounters and can do them more comfortably since the mechanics are understood. Transitional sections of raids tend to have quirks but are not difficult to do. However, they can be time consuming. Encounters can take an hour to learn each role and perfect, and then executed in under 10m, but having to teach each encounter each raid is where the time sink really starts to come in. D1 and even some parts of D2 had mimic encounters from raids, where they pulled some of the mechanics to an activity and I kind of enjoyed it, but its not the same as the actual encounter. You gain a basic understanding of the mechanic, but it doesnt necessarily teach the timing and positioning needed in the actual encounter. I would even say that there could be a "normal" encounter rotator, even with MM or just using the FF system where players could learn the encounters (even add a couple tool tips to help with mechanics if MM is implemented).

                • I have been saying this for 10 yrs. They have added the Menagerie and more 6 player season activities that I consider "raid light" with no fail mechanics and I think the overall large playerbase has enjoyed that (see the love for menagerie and even new 12 player event) but after 10yrs I'm not sure it will ever happen.

It’s a very good idea, but I don’t think it should apply to every raid. The end goal of creating an “entry” difficulty would be to teach folks basic raiding mechanics so that they feel comfortable learning more challenging raids. I think putting an entry mode on all the raids would encourage the opposite; most beginners would never want to do the harder and more rewarding stuff.

                  • If you use up all raid tokens something is going wrong and needs to be addressed.

                    • Yes, have a newby level difficulty with less rewards with less stats, and that way they get exposure (Instead of Raid sets they get like normal pool drops) That gets them a taste of what a raid is, then they can do harder difficulties if they want better rewards

                      • Activities in D1 were hard but doable and fun without all the gimmicks they stick in D2: champions, health gated bosses, raid like mechanics, revive tokens etc.

                        •
The goal is to get more people playing the endgame and pull my less talented friends through.
Removing them is not going to change anything because most don't care to raid, and that's because of the issues/damage this developer caused over the years with raids that are set in stone. I used to like running raids in D1 because we had more freedom to play how we wanted to and use whatever we wanted to, to an extent, and the devs at that time knew how to create incentives to want to run raids, unlike the devs now. D2 is all about too much control over what players need to use to run raids, and that's not including how poorly the loot system is designed in Destiny 2 raids versus how it was designed in Destiny 1.

No, if anything the only thing they should remove is the wipe timer for not rezzing someone, if some dafty keeps getting themself downed during the final stage of a boss encounter why should the whole team suffer for their stupidity, no matter how much you tried keeping them alive. On a note of this, our whole team came close to a wipe on the Herald of Finality because someone couldn't keep themselves alive, we got to last stand and his health was a literal pixel when the wipe timer hit us for not being able to rez him, a witherhoard shot saved the day, not a joke.
