Please revert Surges and -5 Difficulty to all Raids and Dungeons

This change makes raid more inaccessible. This content already is the most inaccessible content in the game. If we wanted a challenge, we would run a master raid or dungeon.   • This I will say is the worst change in the game. I understand it's designed for teams but good lord change the ghost of the deep boss because I know it HAS to be bugged lol

    • I entirely agree. Its so annoying that now its gonna be WAAAAYYYY harder to get rank 11 since the dungeon bosses health pools have all been increased and now I HAVE to run weapons with the surge or else my damage will be as long as dmg's "break" from bungie

      Yeah, it’s just dumb and annoying. If you’re matching surge it’s a 5% nerf to damage. This drastically limits what you can bring for your loadout at any point. It also makes you feel a lot more squishy. Not a problem for experienced players, but it kinda stinks if you’re trying to teach. Haven’t done much of the new raid, but it’s already looking to be a bit much with these Edit: from what I’ve experienced today, survivability is waaay lower than it was. 30% increased damage and the potency of some of the combatants in the new raid are just a bit too much. So far, not loving the new raid…

      • Honestly, just revert [b]ALL[/b] of the level changes made since Lightfall, there was never a problem with overleveling content in the past. Master was already harder than normal with the added modifiers and champions (Although there is an argument here for reworking champions anyways). Pantheon showed us that Bungie is capable of making targeted adjustments to encounters to spice things up, which should be the norm for Master. The old system had an inroad for less skilled players to at least feel as if they were contributing, which had no merit or effect on the challenge of the higher-skilled players. For these players, there was always the [b]choice[/b] of underequipping and underleveling to achieve the same effect that is now forced on all players. You're not asking for more "challenge", you're just asking for more gatekeeping. More [b]options[/b] are good for the game, not less engagement. I'd rather us go back to how activity scaling worked in TWQ with the introduction of additional activity difficulty options (I.E. have Contest just be a selectable difficulty choice on Raids and perhaps Dungeons, but revert Normal and Master back to what it was before). The only activities where deltas make sense IMO are the Legend Campaign, GMs, Contest Raids, and scaling activities (i.e., Onslaught). I'd say keep those and have the rotating surges there to keep things fresh, but remove deltas and surges from everything else in the game. It's a shame really, enforced deltas killed the vibe of the game for me last year (Enough to make me quit), and I was close to giving Bungie at least one more year before this change hit. I've done pretty much everything the endgame had to offer beforehand, but making the entire game more tedious and bullet spongy while also making us more squishy is something I already got to experience once before with The Division 1's 1.3 update, and it was not an experience I want to have to go through in RPG style games anymore. So respectfully, I'll pass.

        A horrible decision by bungie, I'm a hard core raider and I hate this so much, makes raids not chill, I don't want to sweat all the time, I want to enjoy good laughs with my clan & friends, not try to sweat, -5 isn't that big of a deal for me, but for someone else it is, and how can we enjoy playing with others if everyone is -5?

        Interesting what they have done, and badly thought out. Only a small percentage of the game population raided to begin with, these changes make the new raid even more inaccessible. Don’t think I’ll bother now, or dungeons for that matter. Such a shame, the final shape in many ways is outstanding, enjoying playing Destiny again. Maybe they forgot how unpopular surges and burns were back in the old nightfalls. As for the -5? you can thank 1 particular streamer for that, he mentions it frequently as “its how it should be”

      • I have no idea where these changes are listed but it’s probably the reason me and a friend couldn’t beat the final boss of warlords ruin just me and him. We had done it last season a few times with no issues just us two but now the final boss is an absolute nightmare. We had to give up because it was so ridiculous with the amount of enemies spammed and how if you’re titans like we were you are forced into strand banner of war to even survive the encounter. It’s miserable and I saw no issue with how the endgame activities were in season of the wish. Normal mode should be no surges and fairly casual but still somewhat difficult. It was perfect last season.

          The changes don’t make raids any less accessible then before I’d argue it made them more your doing more damage then you ever did before with out them raids/dungeons are end game content they are never ment to be hand fed to you like playlist activities or story content

            Only way bungie will do that is if enough people stop playing iv done master raids and master dungeons but it's getting to the point they ain't even worth it

            • Last night a friend and I purposefully ran an older dungeon (Prophecy) off surge to see the changes. On the whole, it wasn't terrible. We still got it mostly pain free. However, I definitely noticed orange bars being tougher without surges, and many rank and file enemies taking an extra hit or two compared to before. So overall, I don't think the power delta and surges are the worst changes they could've made, and don't "ruin" the old activities. But I personally did notice the delta when fighting tankier enemies, and I do think these kinds of changes set a bad precedent for non-master, non-legendary content.

              • Have you honestly tried the new content, because I ran warlords ruins last night and wasn't any harder than before TFS. I've only completed the first encounter for the new raid but I am an avid raider and it too isn't much harder than before
