So Echoes is just the seasonal model with lipstick - yeah, I’m out.
The seasonal model just brings the game shallow content that is drip fed to keep the studios numbers up. After watching the Echoes ViDoc, it’s clear that Echoes is just Seasons under a different name. The content is equivalent to a heroic public event and the stories are the equivalent of two expansion story campaign missions chopped up and stretched out over 13 weeks.
This model of content quantity and quality has been the major factor in this franchise losing its appeal to the veteran player base that grew up with the studio producing significant amounts of rich content each release.
I said from jump street that I wish for this franchise to make a comeback and for the studio to invest into it again. If they started to care about this franchise - I’d care to invest into for another 10 years. TFS expansion has been a great ending to the light n darkness saga.
But with a new start in the franchise and the studio deciding that the seasonal model is something they’re double down with, I’ll be ending my relationship with this franchise. It’s clear that this game is now intended for a different audience than Destiny has been serving since 2014.
As long as the studio’s philosophy is to purposefully drip feed their customers and purposefully under-deliver- I can’t support them. When Bungie returns to the philosophy of purposefully making great games that amaze their customers and their expectations - when Bungie returns to that, I’ll return to Bungie.

For clarification - Bungie has been hyping up what is coming after TFS for almost as long as they’ve been hyping TFS. With that they decided to post this super vague ViDoc. This feedback isn’t for the people in these forums, it’s for the devs at the Studio. The simps that fill these forums and defend every thing Bungie does - this feedback isn’t for you. These were my initial thoughts from the ViDoc. Episode 1 comes free with TFS. Obviously I’m going to play it and see how the Episode model is going to be. But what Bungie is representing is that Episodes in no different than Seasons. Also, just because I’m not interested in more of the seasonal model doesn’t mean I want to go back to a TTK year long content droughts. Come on, people. Quit thinking so binary. I just want post expansion content that comes with some meat and effort put into them. The Seasonal model has been an overwhelming failure to most people that play this game - and the sentiments expressed in feedback and player engagement of these seasons since TWQ is the proof of that. The staleness of the seasonal model was one of the most sighted aspects of players growing apathetic towards the franchise since TWQ. If Episodes pans out to be just more of the seasonal model, I’m out. The game has sucked with seasons and just because TFS is epic doesn’t mean I’m interested in more seasons. The majority of the comments on this post show that those in this forum can’t help but put some sort of emotional twist on the post when I’m not in the emotional state they assume, assume that this is an “I’m leaving” post, assume that the post means I’m advocating for something I’m not, or just falls over themselves to defend the studio like I’m attacking one of their family members. Wild stuff. 😂 All this post is is Episodes look like they’re going to be the same as the seasonal model. I hope not. Because if it is, I’m not going to have the interest in continuing. Calm down, people. Jesus.

23 RepliesHonestly the new episodes they announced sound dope. Am I crazy? The loot looks amazing. Its unique. And the dreadnought coming back in the 3rd episode is awesome. I am surprised as I thought they'd be nothing but barebones trash and recycled content.

Lol I told people months ago, it's just a tactic game developers do eventually. Seasons get boring and they switch it up and call it episodes. I've seen it in another Sony main mmo game I played for a decade. Same ish but they can better utilize their teams now and push out more, hopefully, content.

I, like every other intelligent and logical individual in the playerbase will just wait and develop my own opinion, which will undoubtedly be more intelligent than yours. I still haven't formed a final opinion on The Final Shape. Forming an opinion based on only partial experience and information is what your parents would call "going off half -blam!-". Though judging by you, it might be your grandparents, because your parents obviously aren't teaching you much.

This is a fake outrage. We already knew what Episodes are and how they would roll out. If you have the expansion already you don't have to play them but i don't believe for a second that you didn't know Destiny 2 would continue to be the live service game it always has been.

The stuff that happens between DLC's can't be like back when there was content droughts between DLC's. It certainly looked like a significant improvement over the previous seasonal model and having 3 instead of 4 will mean people are able to pace themselves and hopefully act less frantic about everything.

Pretty much, but you will be down voted because you are not jumping on the bandwagon of whatever new hype bungie is pushing this week. You are not singing their praises as new and inventive and screaming that your SO excited. Fan fun out there if you can.
