Pathfinder (strike, gambit...) isn't fun because you can't get the final reward unless you also play activities that I don't like.
I guess the idea is to let you play a variety of activities instead of just one.
But since I don't play activities I don't like, I end up not wanting to play Pathfinder.
I wish Pathfinder would provide a route that doesn't require PvP.

People who are for this change, picture it like this. I'm so bad at PVP, do you want me to not only be on your team, but be trying to get something like 20 sniper kills?
-
1 ReplyWouldn't it be better to have separate Pathfinders for Vanguard, Gambit, etc.? And the current mixed Pathfinder just needs to be more rewarding to make people want to participate in activities they don't like.

1 ReplyEdited by clay: 6/9/2024 6:19:05 PMThank you for your reply. My definition of PvP includes gambit. My current Pathfinder requires me to get 20 sniper kills or 25 powerful enemy kills in Gambit. I can't complete Pathfinder with pure PvE (strike). Until now, you could get one reward by completing at least eight Vanguard bounties.

9 RepliesI think a lot of people are missing the point, especially those who say "You don't have to play PvP" or, "Play ALL of the game" or "Get Gud" etc. As far as Private Matches go, what's the point? Why create a need for a workaround? The point is that Bungie does not have to do this! There is no valid reason, game wise, why PvP should be a requirement anywhere. It does not contribute to the game's wellbeing. Consider, IF - big IF where Bungie is concerned - there were choices everywhere, not only in Pathfinder, to play PvE activity OR PvP activity. You do see the choice in many activities. Zavala f'rinstance. What would happen in Pathfinder had the free choice? Would players desert the game. No. Would progress be delayed or accelerated? No. Would PvP players complain? No. I doubt they want drongos messing up their game. Would PvE players complain? No. Is there any reason for anyone playing for fun (not profit) to complain. No. Would the Streamers complain? Probably. Meat grinding is their product. So, why does Bungie do it? Well, there are several reasons, many to do with Bungie's reluctance to provide a game for all. I have my own possible reasons, but none are very complimentary, so best left unsaid. So, there you have it. Why is the problem there in the first place?

3 RepliesFollow the path that avoids pvp you don't have to do all the quest to get to the end, personally I love pvp and I hate gambit but I still manage to get to the end
-
This I’m not a PVP player and it always feels like a chore. I’ll play IB when I get a chance and I didn’t mind Mayhem PVP modes in D1 with vehicles but I’m an old school Halo BTB fan. I digress. PVP and PVE needs to be separate on pathfinder
-
While I can get through pathfinder without doing PVP, I find that I am forced to do things I would never do before. I would never do a get 50 sword kills in a vanguard ops. I would never do get 3 primevals. I would not do the bounties for sniper rifle kills. I generally would do "get so many super kills" as the super I run is a one shot super best used on bosses. I would only ever do a few gambits in any given season. I NEVER play PVP The new pathfinder is all about forcing players into things that would not choose on their own, to include PVP. It removed player choice and limits what bounty activities are even available. The New pathfinder is the exact opposite of how they billed it in the TWID. Bungie lied about it, like most things they have proven to be a very dishonest company.

1 ReplyAgreed a billion percent I enjoyed old system, I was able to CHOOSE what bounties and what activities i want to play this system takes away player power and agency in choices I will not engage with system and honestly it takes away my interest in playing the game
-
Each activity should have had its own path map. At least with bounties we could ignore the ones we weren’t interested in, now it seems every path has undesirable nodes. Fix it bungie.

20 RepliesAgree forced PvP in a pve game is unfair
-
Not to mention bright dust farm is quietly dusted.
-
5 RepliesI played gambit. When I say played I mean I worked on the pathfinder objectives while other people around me played gambit.
-
I have no idea why they didn't just make one pathfinder for each ritual activity
-
I agree with OP, I'm mainly a PVE player so I do not enjoy being forced to play PVP. I'm sorry but to these people -blam!- "PVP is part of the game just deal with it" or similar stuff, consider this : you play a game because you enjoy it, you play for pleasure and that's all. So why would you willingly participate in PVP if you do not like it the least bit ? Destiny is playable for PVE only players and before the Final Shape I could avoid it as much as I wanted. Now I'm forced to compete against other players if I want a chance at earning my pathfinder rewards. And it sucks. I don't get any satisfaction from Crucible or Gambit and it's my right to decide not to take part. Players should have the choice not to engage in PVP and if you disagree you're just a gatekeeper. All that is happening and will keep happening now is people will simply join PVP matches and wait for it to end, or get their pathfinder objectives done and leave the game early which will screw up the game for the other players. I think it's a dumb move from Bungie. I'm not complaining about the rest of the Final Shape because they've done a damn good job and delivered properly. But the pathfinder needs some tweaking. Stay awesome guardians.
-
Needs to be seperated between Vanguard, Crucible and Gambit. I dunno why they didn't do this in the first place. Why have a reset but no ability to "NOT" do the junk you don't wanna do? Each list should have its own path.
-
Unless, I'm wrong. They should've made playlist specifics for Pathfinder. I don't play PvP and on the occasion I play Gambit. I finished all of The Pale Heart Pathfinder nodes for the xp and cores and reset it once. Other than that one, I haven't touch the others. I don't find bounties boring, I pick the ones I can complete fast.
-
What? And not push people to be farmed by players with the brand new sub-class and new supers/fragments behind the paywall? Preposterous.

1 ReplyEdited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 6/10/2024 1:27:20 PMYep. I think players should be able to ride their activity of choice from start to finish every time if they want to. Giving people the choice is the best practice. Either give every activity its own pathfinder, or let players choose at reset which activity to heavily or even fully lean into. As it is now they’ve basically just created a system that means a lot of people just won’t engage with it. Which makes it a bad system. Again, allowing for choice is better. This isn’t “play your way” as was implied. If the issue is that this is an attempt to push people into activities they don’t normally play, the issue isn’t that people aren’t playing it, it’s WHY they aren’t playing it. The issue is with the activity, not the players.
-
i dunno why bungie did the system like this, they always come up with an interesting thing to pass the time but half the time they -blam!- foot their way around things just make activity specific pathfinders, that way people dont need to get stage 4 cancer trying to clear side objectives in a pvp thats full to the brim with trials and comp rejects
-

1 ReplyMeanwhile i did my resets without touching pvp or gambit. Take a different path if you dotn want to pvp

I wish kids would stop buying a game and then cry when they realize they need to play said game.
-
Meanwhile i love that I have a consistent thing to do in pvp.
-
Huh? I have played zero PVP this season and reset it 10x by now.

5 RepliesI finshed it without one pvp shot fired. And I am a nobody causal who can't even solo any dungeon etc lol. I just played the game.
