After Final Shape being so fantastic
Please don’t fall back on the old habit of under delivering on every other expansion.
It is not sustainable. Forsaken, Witch Queen, and Final Shape have to be the standards of quality.
If you need to hire more developers then do that. But please focus on decisions that our best for the game in the long-term rather than shortsighted quarterly profits.
Final shape is a great expansion and it is because of the level of effort and care put into it, that it will make good money.

14 RepliesI feel like final shape (the campaign) was underwhelming and didn't deliver. Most of it can be sumed to, "we need to get the vanguard back together." With a chunk near the end being season of the haunted 2.0 for zavala. I feel the vanguard getting together should have been the 1st mission and the rest of the campaign should have been us stabilizing the portal, capturing key locations, setting beachheads, and collecting intel mean while our allies from the last few years join us and fight along side us as we figure out how to defeat the witness. I feel the post campaign missions where better than the actual campaign, which was the red war 2.0 and season of the haunted 2.0.

You know they will. The executives have revealed their entire philosophy when it comes to game development. Make the most money with as little effort as possible. They said word for word, not to “overdeliver”. Forsaken was only good because vanilla D2 was horrible. Witch Queen was only good because Beyond Light sucked, and more than half of the game was sunset. Final Shape was only good because Lightfall was terrible. The only outlier here is The Taken King, because vanilla D1 was still kinda decent. But that was simply before Bungie perfected their evil strategy of milking us like the cattle we are. The Codename Frontiers expansion is probably gonna suck, like Vanilla D2, Beyond Light, and Lightfall. If Bungie is comfortable, they get lazy. If they’re in trouble, they cook. Right now, Final Shape is being received so well that they’re getting pretty damn comfortable.

1 ReplyIt’s still the honeymoon period. Then it’s back to the way it’s always been, with repetitive activities and seasonal activities.
-
1 ReplyThe core game hasn't really changed with regards to activities.
-
1 ReplyThey'll definitely regress now that they're finished with tfs
-
4 RepliesWell….all that’s left are the episodes. Basically battle passes with just a tad bit more content from what I hear. That has skeleton crew written all over it.
-
they're going to sunset everything again, don't worry.

1 ReplyDepends on what one considers fantastic. I for one don’t see any of the new weapons/raid weapons interest me, Prismatic might be nice but it’s just old stuff slapped together. We’re a few days in and I’m already bored. No new skimmers, the exotic special sword is again just a re-use of old exotic perks. I don’t get why anyone would cheer this on. The campaign was mostly the vanguard bickering and Cayde glazing Crow. Sure “oh my god” the final mission is so epic. One mission. The raid loot is utter trash. We don’t even have any remarkable strand perks on the artifact. Boring rewards, and rewards is in the end what most players play for. Imo.

1 ReplyAs far as I’m concerned destiny is officially over until destiny 3 drops.

28 RepliesFinal Shape is NOT a standard of quality to adhere to. Taken King/Forsaken for large DLCs Rise of Iron and Beyond Light for smaller/medium DLCs All of these above DLCs actually moved the bar from a design and technical forward while providing strong well written narratives, art, and music while also opening the door for seasons upon seasons of content very naturally including future large DLCs. And also as whole years, not just DLCs alone these were what set the expectations of what Destiny should be and is at its most fun. Reasons why Final Shape is both in a isolated view and compartively: -No focused artistic direction or theme -Comparitively lacking soundtrack but in isolation is very very strong -Little to not content tied to the actual DLC itself both in isolation and comparitively. Taken King and Forsaken would like a word -No true narrative development. In the end, we still live and weild the same power and all our friends are still around and all of our enemies before the Witness died still exist. They're not scared or emboldened. Just doing their usual or nothing interesting at all. -No systems development whatsover. Of any sort -Small loot pool for what should be one of the largest if the not the largest we've every gotten And the list continues with stuff like this. Things that even with issues and the rough patches, in the past we could at least count on -Actual progression -Further development of systems -More artistically unique spaces and very smart and interesting themes -Interesting and important characters in our future Does Final Shape do any of this? No. Not ONE. Even Lightfall which is my most hated DLC, at least provided a somewhat artistically unique space and tried to give us an interesting character.

4 RepliesIts the end, what would they regress to? All we have left will be the episodes, Echoes starts soon and will finish off the story of failsafe and the vex, all we really have left that I can think of is Fikrul and the Scorn which Crow mentions he will try and find. Oh yeah, almost forgot, Xivu Arath and the fate of the Taken. The next three episodes should be Vex endind, Scorn ending, Taken/Hive ending. Likely these seasonal stories will play out till the end of this year, concluding the Light and Dark Saga and the end of Destiny 2, finally.

No more expansions brother. Episodes going forward, everyone's on marathon now until release in 2026

Edited by Bownzinho: 6/9/2024 10:24:36 AMFrom a story point of view I would tie up the Xivu Arath story in the next expansion and then stick to different villains for the next couple of expansions (if they are going to keep going long term anyway). I know that things are pretty much done so that’s not likely. We certainly don’t need another “saga”

16 RepliesThe final shape isnt sustainable. Barely any content and a single player zone. The exotic quests were all legit a couple hours long lol.

It wasent terrible for once but we’ve played better campaigns than that. Bungie did learn some lessons though, and did a lot of things better - but a lot of the problems still remain. The wild hunt mission was one of the worst missions I’ve ever played. Game is still built around “gotcha” mechanics and final campaign bosses are still hard to do solo - no scaling whstsoever. And the only great thing about the campaign was the 12 man activity at the end. Quite honestly something like that should end all of these campaigns.

Haha by now don’t expect . Also this is the end for most people .
Forsaken, Witch Queen, and Final Shape have to be the standards of quality.
Those are three wildly different standards of quality to adhere to.

There are no more expansions. Unless you be good.

While I agree keep in mind Final Shape has extra long to cook in the oven BECAUSE Lightfall was a cut cutscene from Final Shape made into a DLC at the last possible minute. In order to have a Final Shape situation again a DLC has to fail, Forsaken had extra devs which Bungie needs and Witch Queen i feel like was a lucky break since it added QoL aspects and they finally announced the witness with that dlc
