Thrash. As a guitarist I can confirm that those riffs are often much more physically demanding than doom metal, and I like a challenge. Although in all honesty, melodic metalcore is just the peak of metal imo. It has technical riffs, awsome thrash adjacent solos, death metal vocals, beautiful cleans vocals, and whatever the -blam!- Jason Richardson is.

Thrash metal is just the raccoons getting into the garbage again

You’re comparing apples to orangutans here. There are plenty of phenomenal bands in these genres, just as there are boring and derivative ones. Like what you like. Genre elitism is the Achilles heel of metal. If it’s heavy and it gets your head bobbing, it’s good 👍

Thrash, I'm a big trivium fan

3 RepliesI don't pay much attention to subgenres, honestly. I know that most of what I listen to is somewhere in the metal spectrum (a lot of it is metalcore), but I get a lot more confused when we get to the black/death/doom/etc metal classifications. I'm never sure if a song is considered Symphonic Black Metal, Melodic Deathcore, Techdeath, or whatever else people like to call it. I listen to stuff like Archspire, Carnifex, Shadow of Intent, Inferi, Make Them Suffer, Humanity's Last Breath, Born of Osiris, Crown The Beast, All Shall Perish, et cetera. I don't know what subgenres most/any those fall into, but I do know that they sound good. Know what I can tell you? THALL 🤘

Mongolian Metal is supreme...

1 ReplyDoom Metal is a symphony of delight, but all metal subgenres bow to their two supreme leaders: 1.) Power Metal (the Goat) 2.) Space Psychedelic Opera Metal (Just check out Face of the Deep by Chris Christodoulou)

2 RepliesNeither are that great imo. But I’ll pick thrash just because Metallica. Both are pretty mid as far as metal subgenres go. But I find myself craving thrash more than doom, sometimes it just is one of those kinda days. And tbh idc what anyone says, as overrated as they are Metallica still hold up to this day. My personal favorite album is AJFA. That album has so many phenomenal songs.
Also… (insert mandatory Lars roast)
