Before the idiot trolls show up, I have 1550 raid clears, all the raid seals, and have no problems finishing raids. I'm also a former top 500 speed runner with a former top 200 legacy speedrun board placement. I also have over 500 sherpas
Anyway.
Making the raids -5 was a pretty bad idea. Yes, surges exist now, but that makes every raid feel like week 1 Pantheon and while Pantheon was really fun as a temporary activity, having it around all the time is tiresome and boring for myriad reasons.
1. It robs the player of progression. Last Wish is over 4 years old at this point, and it should feel like it's 4 years old. We've struggled through, triumphed over, and grown out of that raid. Returning to it should be a feeling of nostalgia, not a feeling of "I'm doing this for the first timr again, every time, forever." That's not fun and not exciting.
2. Helping people get through raids as beginners is now a LOT more difficult. The reliance on meta and good builds is even higher than it was before, and makes the activity less friendly to folks trying them out for the first time as small mistakes are immediately punished by extra boss phases or death from adds.
Having some raids be less light level and gear intensive than others gave new players an entrance into raids without needing to have the very top stuff, and since this game's mid game is so intensely boring, hollow, and short, players are now forced to either run longer raids, which will chase people away, or require a longer grind to get into raids, which will chase people away.
3. Making us under light does NOT make old content feel fresh and new. Nothing you do will ever make this old content "feel new again" and you need to stop listening to the 0.01% of people who are stupid enough to think that nerfing our light levels makes content fun and interesting.
Did Bungie not learn anything from Neomuna? Making patrol zones Legend Difficulty didn't make the patrols fun and interesting, it made them tedious and boring and people avoided going to Neomuna if at all possible. Why would you do that to raids? Getting people to raid is hard enough already.
4. Fatigue. Bungie misunderstands the notion that sometimes things just need to be chill. Nobody cared that Morgeth could be one phased with special weapons. It was fun to do, and we laughed about it. Laughter is a good thing. Having to "square up and try" every time adds player fatigue, and now if some folks wanna chill, we gotta go find something else to do.
5. At -5, the gear selection tightens even more than it already had. As an example, there were several ways to two phase Warpriest in Kingsfall. Rockets, linears, Whisper, hell, you could even do it with 5 thunderlords and a div bubble if everyone hit their supers right.
Now, a sizable percentage of those builds are a three phase, which means people will start using them less often. That means fewer guardians playing how they like to play and being squeezed into the meta box, which frustrates most players.
Overall, this is a change nobody wanted and that nobody asked for. Even the streamers didn't ask for this. It's the one time when the community and streamers are in agreement here. This change is bad and, knowing this community, it's going to cause even more gatekeeping than what already exists. People didn't like the "gjallerhorn or kick" mentality of D1 and changes like this take us right back to that reality as people don't want to 3 phase raid bosses simply because 1 or 2 LFGs don't have top tier crafted weapons.
This needs to be rolled back. You're literally going to kill off what's left of the raid community this way as seasoned players are going to become more selective of who they bring along and new players are going to start avoiding raids because of how unfriendly they're becoming.
Please revert this change. It's not in the best interests of the game to make these activities suck more. They need to suck less.

I 100% agree with this tbh
