Well nerf seems like an over correction.
Been looking at a lot of testing on this and myself. Well is now just a healing nade and a melee hit together. (Healing nade and radiant with 10% damage resist) Does this really make it a super anymore if it's just really 2 abilities put together? If it is suppose to be the lean into damage buff super why does it not match banner or even add the ability to get more damage when in well with Phoenix protocol like helm does with weapons of light. Or give the ember of benevolence when in well for ability regen to. SOMETHING. The animation as well is to slow to be a panic super for many things. Cast time needs sped up to fit that role better. But the state it's in doesn't seem "Super" seems like an ability.
TLDR: Well sucks now and needed a more interesting change than this blanket nerf with radiant outside of well. Not saying we need the old unkillable Well back but needs more adjustment.

5 RepliesBubble got smoked too and even got weapons of light moved to an exotic. Borderline useless with said exotic and completely useless without it

1 ReplyEdited by OurWildebeest: 6/8/2024 1:51:44 PMWhen I started playing D1 Destiny, I picked a warlock main, and I was a Voidwalker at first (like all warlocks in D1 were), but switched to Sunsinger when it became available, and stuck with it as long as it existed. I didn't care that much about res, though that was cool at times. Mainly, I used a grenade spam build. Add Sunbracers, and I could turn a medium sized room into a sea of flame when I used my super. That is what I enjoyed - basically what Destiny was to me. Secondarily, I enjoyed bubble titan + Saint-14 helmet. Goading enemies into walking into the bubble, then punching them to death. I still play solar warlock with Sunbracers most of the time, and I often use Witherhoard to get a little of that old feeling, but it's not as fun as it was, for me. That's all to say, if you are into Well, I'm sorry it got nerfed. But at least it still exists. My favorite way of playing the game was entirely eliminated with D2, and I've probably played about 50% as much D2 as I would have if I could have kept playing grenade-spam Sunsinger instead of a slightly modified version of hammer titan.

2 RepliesThat Well nerf honestly needs to be fully reverted and given a buff that makes the buff actually count as radiant for Hunters. At this point, Well is a detriment to run in a team and actively hinders GG hunters. Another problem is that the game is basically still balanced in harder activities around how old Well was so there is even less of a reason for the nerf.

Just look what happened to hand held supernova....-blam!- isnt right yet hunters get a 100% trials winning super that cant be countered nor stopped in any way shape or form other then hiding which even then they can still kill you. Hunter main btw

Well is still a good option, now you just need to pair it with other DR sources so it's not a brain dead option. If you don't need well for damage then just use song of flame for your DR, simple

1 ReplyI suspect the reason for several of the nerfs is the new exotic sword. If you stacked well, a Wolfpack rounds sword, getaway artist, rift with solar soul, and possibly some of the lightning version of that sword with armor buffs to up sword damage and the well kept everyone immortal we would likely have a must have x sword warlock meta due to the sheer volume of damage outputs that can be stacked with that. I think the impact on lethality of well camping likely counteracts this based on what I’m imagining from what I’ve seen from just a small chunk of this.

2 RepliesYeah, it's over nerfed. As is everything bungie does when nerfing a warlock. History again repeated. I'm all for a well nerf as it was the most brain-dead super, but now it's useless even for the user in both pvp and pve. Song of flame is no better and feels weak, too. All solar is now daybreak until that gets nerfed again.

3 RepliesThe thing about Well, was that it was a great dramatic moment. Guardians all standing inside it, dealing damage, and getting smashed by enemies, knowing that if you stepped outside you'd be insta killed. When I started playing, it was one of the things about the game that drew me in. A great moment in space magic, gone.. like tears in rain.

Besides the Radiant buff it gives when outside of Well, it’s one of those Supers that deserves to be forgotten. Especially when you can get as good or better survivability from Song of Flame with Devour.

Working as intended so Bungie could turn around and charge you $50-$100 for Song of Flame.

1 ReplyA buff I think would benefit is if the healing stacked with other sources. For example pop well and snd use a healing made or a rift. That way you build into it and have to way the benefits of sacrificing another source of healing for a dmg phase or survival later.

3 RepliesSwitch to well, we don't have enough wellocks, the only way to do this is if you run well, change to warlock so we have a well... I was hoping Well got obliterated because there are a lot of people who can't play the game without it, and I left my warlock behind just so I could tell people I didn't play a warlock. Maybe at some point, i'll get to enjoy my once favorite class again.

Nah and you’re doing it right. New super is excellent. It’s powerful and has great survivability. Fire teams will have to figure out their own survivability moving forward. Warlocks are doing alright with Prismatic.

1 ReplyMy theory is it was nerfed for Destiny 2’s final raid, they’ll leave it as is for a month or so then “balance” it back into a healing/defensive favor without making it overkill.
