Hello Guardians and other people chilling at the Tower!
After 3 hours playing the story and prismatic... I feel dissappointed... Im a player since D1 Beta and of course i played D2 Beta aswell. So i have a lot of time in Destiny and this time i got disappointed with the new DLC. Not because of the story but because of the "new" subclass called prismatic and here is why:
First of all. It feel kinda boring and lame. Its basicly nothing new just the grenades, abilitys and fragments are mixed. It feels like bungie was lazy and didnt think about something new. I like the concept but they messed up. A 3rd darkness class (there are sooooo many ways to make a 3rd darkness class) with everything new would be much fresher and cooler then just "mix" the subclasses. For me this feels just like Light 4.0. Also the new super of Lightclass are cool but then im asking myself why we get new Light supers when Darkness Supers just have 1 for each class. Now we have 2-3 Light supers for each character and just 1 strand and stasis for each character. Thats also a missed opportunity to give the darkness class love.
2nd one it feels wrong. This may sound stupid but it says that the limitation of light and darkness are gone so we can use both but in the otherhand we are limited to chosen fragments, aspects and abilitys. I mean yes balancing and stuff like this but we are broken and we need to get broken to kill the whitness. It would be much better if we can choose from all we got but limited like fragments. Powerfull stuff costs more then weaker stuff. So you need to choose what u are playing. For an example;
You want to play prismatic with well but it seems to be broken so you can just use 2 aspects instead of 4-5 so you have leee benefits of the aspects you choose.
In the other hand if you play something that isnt meta right now you got 4-5 aspects. So you have more benefits but a weaker super.
Also bring back Io
I hope bungie will note this^^
Whats your experiences with prismatic?

1 ReplyI genuinely do not get the hate, like are y’all not build crafting and making stuff synergise? On my warlock I have two turrets shooting everything, infinite grenades, melee to unravel everything, my super back every 30 seconds.

I think it can be powerful but still not used to it other than certain builds. Holding judgment until the exotic class items are released.

Im a player since D1 Beta and of course i played D2 Beta aswell.
Stopped reading after this part. No one cares you played the D1 beta, 80% of us did. It doesn't mean anything. Whatever you said after this is irrelevant and invalid. Shush.

4 RepliesI was kind of worried before the release that prismatic would be exactly like I thought it was, and it well, is. Don't get me wrong, I think some aspects are cool, like I have consecration on with the Strand melee so you can do it 3 times, but ultimately I feel like it should have coincided with the fabled third darkness subclass since it really is more of an amalgamation of things rather than a new element all together.

So after playing the whole campaign WITH prismatic and new aspects/fragments. My oppinion wont change. It feels still boring, lame and nothing new. Yes you have different grenades and supers but yeah... Even with good builds its just the same. I made a arc build on my hunter with stasis grenades and it feels like my normal arc build just with different grenades and a different super thats mostly weaker then the original build. A 3rd darkness class would be still much better. Imagine we stole the 3rd darkness class from the wittnes suring the campagn somehow and use it against him in the final battle. This would be so sick.

I can't make judgements on Prismatic, because I've only played 4 hours. YOU shouldn't make judgments about the viability of Prismatic after only playing for 3 hours. But sure. Let's listen to some random guy's opinions who's barely played. Oh, and let's believe him about Prismatic, because he played the D1 beta.

It's like an overload/barrier mechanism, nothing else. Feels a bit boring, but maybe they are planning to improve it somwhow.

2 RepliesPrismatic feels underwhelming because it's mostly a "jack-of-all-trades, master of none" class. It can go wide in ways the other subclasses can't, but the trade-off is it has a lower power ceiling to compensate. They didn't want Prismatic to completely overshadow the need to use the other subclasses.

3 RepliesI will say Transcendance feels pointless since you have to save it for random shielded enemies and it takes forever to charge up which is why they constantly add charge spots.

1 ReplyHave only completed the first missions so far, normal and legendary, however, it feels fun to use. I do think it opens up a different play style. You, as others have said, do have to build-craft into it. Also consider what exotic armor to use, as some will work really well with them. It’s also important to have a light and dark weapon. That way you can build up each bar, fairly quickly with kills. I think that having limited abilities, aspects, supers, and fragments is a good thing. If everything was unlocked, there wouldn’t be a reason to use the other subclasses.

You don’t even get most of the fragments until you’ve completed the campaign then a few quests and spent ages doing the puzzles in the open world so how can you say it’s bad when you’ve played a few hours when you don’t even have a quarter of the available stuff haha

So go outside bro.

2 Repliesprismatic is broken without the class items, very fun to use

My experience is that you need to find synergies and build craft…. Also, unless you have played through the post-campaign, you have not seen all of what it can do. The initial build we were given was pretty basic. You have to acquire all the fragments and start to unlock all the seasonal pass bonuses. I’m enjoying the new Solar super (warlock) with Prismatic more than I thought I would…and it is very powerful. It is not a gimmick. It’s part of what seem to be a design philosophy change where content is concerned. Where there play mechanics play a much larger role in mid level content. Besides, the lore made it clear very early on that the division into class and subclass was an artificial role. There was no inherent barrier to any Guardian using any power.

It’s fantastic but you need to learn how to use it properly and also get the entire kit. I’m a Warlock main and I love it

Feeling the same. Had a bit trouble with prismatic Warlock in legend campaign. But after switching back to void its much easier.

Jet Set WillyIt’s all going concording to plan 😂🤣 - old
I’ve only played the first mission as I haven’t bought TFS. I found prismatic underwhelming. Prismatic just seemed like a gimmick to deal with the new pink bar enemies.
