Remember in the run up to Forsaken, when the future of the game looked uncertain, Bungie revealed a roadmap to show everyone they had big plans for the future of Destiny.
As we approach the conclusion of the Light and Darkness saga, with uncertainty around the future of the game, Bungie is pulling out all the stops to sell TFS.
But no roadmap.
I think that’s pretty significant and it suggests to me that D2 development will be scaled back, or paused, at least until Marathon is released.
Maybe the Destiny roadmap shifts focus to D3 and they don’t want to reveal that yet.
Or maybe rumours of a full Sony takeover carry weight and anything beyond Marathon is currently undecided.
EDIT: Just to clarify, I’m talking about a long term roadmap (what comes after TFS and the 3 announced episodes).

3 RepliesHopefully, it's over, and I can finally leave my basement. 🫣

1 ReplyLike when they did that little poster that showed Beyond Light, WQ, and Lightfall(?) is that more to what you’re alluding to? The thing they released before they ever announced Final Shape? I remember the Forsaken roadmap with all the seasonal content planned out but if you’re asking for something after the episodes I’m not sure.

4 RepliesD3?? I might be the only person to think this, but I don't think there will be a d3!! The light and darkness saga is destiny imo. Arguably it already happened with the release of beyond light.

1 ReplyWe have already been told . It will be just episode of different storylines from destiny . Vex seem to be coming back in force . Once FS drops that’s the D2 story done . Haven’t pre ordered and might get FS but for me that’s it .

2 Repliesyeah they been real quiet about what is after FS, I see FS lasting 6 months whats next?

3 RepliesMarathon only needs to release by spring 26 to trigger the final bonuses then staff will quit. It's at least 18 months away. Leaks suggest
6 episodes for destiny, already built, so no expansion for 2 years. Frees up everyone to work on marathon once TFS drops. Next drop may well be D3 in 27/28
Apparently future plans are revealed officially once the 8th mission is completed
I've seen full details of the 1st 3 episodes, it's seasons but longer, a lot will walk away for good imvho
Jet Set WillyIt’s all going concording to plan 😂🤣 - old
I expect that Bungie have more than the next year mapped out, and it would be nice to see what they have planned. Obviously it would be subject to change and depend on a multitude of factors, some of which could be beyond their control. But it’d still be good to see. -
2 Repliesroad map.. i'd take any info on how episodes are going to be different from seasons and how getting only 3 of them is going to be better for me as a player at the same price points. Lets have the details of that considering they have been promoting episodes with no real information whatsoever.

3 RepliesStarting in 2024, Episodes will be replacing Seasons as our new way of storytelling and content update format for Destiny 2. Each Episode will contain new story content and rewards, including a new Exotic mission, Exotic weapon and armor. Episodes will be split into three Acts, with a new Act releasing every six weeks—containing new stories, quests, activities, weapons, artifact mods, pass ranks, and rewards. Echoes, Revenant, and Heresy will be the first three Episodes, coming in The Final Shape year. Road Map usually come late or on release. That up to bungie how they do it. If the artificial mod, usually that come out before final shape come out or last min

They only mentioned the annual pass content. Marathon development was scaled back as a result of the Final Shape delay and developers were moved off of other projects to help with the dlc. They’ve already mentioned more content coming in the future that will be revealed after the conclusion of the Final Shape story.

10 RepliesEdited by The Hermit IX: 5/28/2024 8:20:08 AMI think your post is complete nonsense and it gets a resounding down vote. You’re fishing to create negative attention because you crave attention. Stop being so short sighted. We have a week to go and just like when they dropped prismatic, no one had a clue. You’ll be playing FS day one and here crying about your wait time to get in. Totally disappointing on every level.

1 ReplyIf final shape does badly in terms of profit than yesterday the game will see scaled back development as more Devs will be layed of and for marathon I doubt it will do as well as bungie wants

4 RepliesWhen do we get a marathon roadmap? The future of destiny seems to depend on collective meltdown levels. If anyone would join me in my pre tfs meltdown I'll be around.

4 RepliesEdited by WinterSolstice: 5/28/2024 8:11:15 AMThey stopped doing roadmaps after I think it was Season of the Dawn. They also wanted to be super secretive about Final Shape in fact I don't think they planned anything other than the launch trailer since they showed little in the initial trailer and said to wait till the week before Final Shape for more if I remember correctly. I think backlash is what got them to show more but even then you can tell they're being secretive. Also they did kinda show a roadmap. Launch will include a new activity, strike and the story, after that is the raid, after raid new activity/story mission and likely Prismatic won't be fully available till raid is done so remaining prismatic and likely an exotic mission, new episode launch, episode roadmap was shown a long while ago just without details other than things like "New activity, new weapons/armor/exotics this week, new weapons that week" Basically your standard that every dlc follows. Edit: Also we know they plan 2 dungeons with the new episode system if I had to guess 1st one drops either at the tail end of Echo or the beginning of Revenant with the 2nd one being likely start of Heresy.
