Kinda disappointed with the body shot changes in PvP, maybe some of them should be attuned?

So it's been a couple of months since the body shot changes went live in PvP and I will say that PvP is in a pretty good place right now and is doing a lot better than it was a couple of seasons ago but after playing a couple hundred hours I have to say some archetypes really didn't need these changes. In particular, I am referring to aggressive pulse rifles, adaptive pulse rifles, aggressive hand cannons, and adaptive side arms. Aggressive and adaptive pulse rifles used to be the most forgiving archetypes in the game but their trade-off was that they weren't as lethal at the base. Now they're still very good but you can't play as aggressively or risky with them because of the reduced body shot damage. In a sandbox where everyone crutches on Messenger with head seeker and now Elsie's rifle with Zen moment head seeker, other archetypes need some help because a high impact will always out ttk them, and since everyone is using the perks listed above, they almost always get the 2 bursts. Both aggressive and adaptive should at least get their body shot nerf halved. This will allow them to better compete with and against high-impact pulses. Aggressive hand cannons are a different story. These guns were designed with the mentality of slow firing, heavy recoil, long range, and some forgiveness. Now that forgiveness is gone so there isn't really anything to differentiate them from 140 adaptive hand cannons. Yes, they have more range but a god role rose can easily compete. Also again, you can't play as aggressively with these guns anymore. Before you could slide into engagements and all you had to do was worry about landing 2 crits but now aggressive play becomes more difficult as the forgiveness is gone and most people are teamshotting so you will most likely get out guned. People may point out that Igneous hammer adept is still a top 10 trials weapon but I would like to remind people that there are other 120 hand cannons other than the igneous hammer. I've got the god role max range adept igneous and it's a great gun but you still can't play as aggressively as you used to be able to. Bungie has really pushed this archetype into a team shot or peak shooting weapon and that is a really boring and cowardly way to play. Finally for adaptive sidearms. They are still really good but the forgiveness they offered with the 2 crit 2 body is gone. This also kind of lowers the range because you are dealing less damage (yes the crit is the same but sidearms are spam weapons). In a world with max range SMG's it makes it kind of hard to compete at certain ranges. To sum up, I think the overall changes weren't necessarily bad but certain archetypes do need to be separately adjusted. Certain guns need extra forgiveness to make it easier to compete with the top dogs like Messenger and Elsie rifles. The reduction to flinch has also made messenger and Elsie's rifle extremely easy to use. At least before you could kind of count on Flinch to help you during a gunfight but with these changes and the buff to zen moment, you may as well be shooting them with single pebbles of smooth sand. Rapid fire and full auto archetypes are doing pretty well with these changes because they are more forgiving by nature (missing a burst or part of a burst on a pulse hurts way more than a bullet or two on an auto rifle). If Bungie doesn't want to add more forgiveness then maybe they should consider nerfing the ease of use on high-impact pulses and perhaps a nerf to zen moment on high impacts specifically as it's kind of become overkill especially when combined with head seeker in a heavy teamshot environment. Again I'm not saying that PvP is unplayable, far from it actually, as a PvP main I think PvP is in a better place than it has been in a long time. Hope this feedback is well received and feel free to add your own thoughts. GG's.

Adaptives are still a very forgiving three burst and can actually 2 burst up to 5 or 6 res now. Sleeper weapons for sure. Aggressive I have found to need high stats like Belasariius and Blast Furnace and if you can get consistency perks (mine is headseeker / eye of the storm) the two burst is very consistent.

  • I really agree with the igneous part.
