I'm sure all the devs have received numerous feedback on bows but I just wanted to share my thoughts. I'm an avid bow main (which I distinguish from a bow swap main) with around 60,000 bow crucible kills if my tracker is to be believed. I understand the reasoning behind giving bows a 30% nerf (24% for lw [15% initial nerf and 15% more HP to guardians]) as it was intended to hit blinting and laneing hard especially with the changes to the special ammo economy. The result, however, is that bows are now one of the least used archetypes in the entire game having only peaked recently at 5.8% or something like that according to Mercules. While blinting is effectively dead, it has left bows as the worst primary and unable to compete with any sort of other archetype. For long range, I am shredded by pulses and scouts as I have to peek twice so they know exactly where to prefire (and it's not feasible to perform an accurate jump shot at the range.) For mid to short range, sidearms, smgs, shotguns, and hand cannons demolish me. Even if I get the first shot, redrawing and trying to aim through flinch is very difficult to the point of futility. Frankly the only way any bow main makes them work currently is well by bow swapping with an ability (knives being most common) or a glaive which I thought was the whole point of the nerf: to not encourage that sort of playstyle. Because of the special ammo changes (or at least with the transmat system) and the fact that scoring kills with just a bow as your primary is very difficult and inconsistent, I often can't run a shotgun which leaves me open to almost anyone pushing me. It does feel kind of discouraging to have put almost 2,000 hours into a game and do better with weapons that I have barely touched before vs the one that I love and have spent almost 1000 hours trying to master. With all this said, if a couple changes were made, I believe bows would still be balanced but competitive and the changes would not need to be much. [b][i][u]Let's play into their fantasy: Reduce the draw time of lw bows from 500 down to 400 and give them falloff of 35m allowing them to be used for CQC. Reduce the draw time of precision's down to 500 and 476 with Oathkeepers and give them a falloff distance of 45m. Give precisions a 3% damage increase to allow sundering to proc on any resil (thank you whoever stealth buffed that origin trait) and keep all the other damage the say. Bows would still require two crits to kill but they could actually be usable. Please make changes similar to this. I really want to enjoy the game again playing with the weapon I love. Thank you and cheers.

3 RepliesYo saw you playing with geist yesterday. Couldn't agree more, just like to add something. Bows are the only primary to have their ttk tied too much with perks, Mercules was always explaining that it was frustrating that GL where very depended on spike nades to be viable, bows are like that but on steroids, you need it to have draw speed as low as possible(elastic string + draw speed master work + archer tempo) + reload speed as fast as possible. Trying to farm the bow from the dungeon is just too much rng. I would say just make all bows LW 400 and precision 475 draw speed, then we could have more freedom for perk. But you know as I, 96% of players hate bows, and this will be downvoted as hell. You will see a buch of "no"; "adapt"; "keep crying, glad bows died" thats just how much hate this community has for bows. But am with you in this frustation, and I love to hear from other bow mains about this issue as well.

1 ReplySadly after reading the Twab this week with no changes to bows besides a perk nerf, Ive come to the conclusion that Bungie is satisfied with the current 1% usage rate of bows right now. I guess since a majority of people disliked them compared to amount of players who used them, they would rather them be dead than try to make them fit in with the other weapons.

I agree.
